“Jinshi? Where are you hiding in the middle of the night without sleeping?” Ding Long called out again. His gaze shifted, noticing the missing items at Ding Jinshi’s dressing table. He was stunned and quickly pulled open Ding Jinshi’s wardrobe. As expected, several of her frequently worn clothes were gone.
Ding Long didn’t care about the ti at all; he imdiately grabbed his phone to call Ding Jinshi. After a few seconds of ringing, the call was hung up; when he called again, her phone was already turned off.
“Sir?” Xi Ma was awakened by Ding Long’s voice and hurriedly ran upstairs.
“Where is Madam?” Ding Long’s expression turned cold.
“Madam went out traveling; she said it was organized by the workplace. She’ll be back after a week. Madam just left this morning.” Xi Ma replied promptly.
“Did she ntion where she was going?” Ding Long quickly asked.
“She didn’t.” Xi Ma shook her head.
“Got it, you should go back to rest then.” Ding Long nodded, letting Xi Ma return downstairs while he closed the door. Looking at the empty room, no matter how he looked, he always felt a sense of emptiness inside.
For several days, he left early and returned late, and she didn’t care or ask. Even going out for such a big event as traveling, she didn’t think of notifying him. In her heart, Ding Long truly had no status whatsoever.
The whole night, Ding Long felt wide-awake, tossing and turning on the bed belonging to both him and Ding Jinshi, unable to sleep. Ding Jinshi had a habit of using perfu and consistently used only one kind. In the room, he could faintly still sll that subtle scent she carried.
Yet her presence was lacking.
Ding Long originally wanted ti to wash away the conflicts between him and Ding Jinshi. He needed peace, and so did Ding Jinshi. But unexpectedly, while he sought calm, she seed to continue with her own ways.
To fall in love with a woman whose heart isn’t set on you, what a painful self-torture it is, Ding Long perhaps understood better than anyone.
Her mood each day, he as the husband needed to find out from outsiders; how much she ate today, what she said, he also needed to learn from others. Between him and Ding Jinshi, there was always a wall, thick, unmovable.
