"Zhilan, I’m back." He Teng opened the door and called out from the entrance. No one answered him, so he pushed open the room and went inside, only to see his wife and son still blissfully asleep at this ti.
He Teng couldn’t help but find it funny; his son sure could sleep, and it seed his mom could sleep just as well because of it.
"Wifey." He Teng bent down to give the sleeping He Zhilan a kiss on the cheek, his voice full of amusent, "Ti to get up."
He Zhilan finally opened her eyes groggily, paused when she saw He Teng, "You’re back already? What ti is it?"
Ever since He Teng’s father also started helping out at the supermarket, He Zhilan had been ho alone. Once the child went to sleep, she found herself with nothing to do. Out of boredom, she’d watch her child sleep, and before she knew it, she also drifted off for a good nap.
"It’s past ten." He Teng laughed, "Let’s take the kid to the supermarket in a bit. We’ll have lunch there with Dad and the others. I told Dad not to co back to cook lunch."
He Zhilan agreed, turned to look at Little Tuanyuan, then smiled at He Teng, "Little Tuanyuan woke up around five this morning, wide awake, which got up early too. After nine, he got tired and fell asleep. If you hadn’t co back, maybe I would’ve slept till eleven just like him. When Tuanyuan gets a bit older, I’ll just take him to the office with ."
"Sleep as much as you need to, just don’t skip any als. The weather cools down in the evening, rember to go for a walk and get so exercise," He Teng didn’t mind at all. After Zhilan went to wash up, he lay down where she had been and leaned over to kiss his Little Tuanyuan. The little one, still on formula, slled softly of milk, and it was really comforting.
More than half an hour later, the two of them went out. Because it was hot outside, He Teng carried his son while He Zhilan walked next to him with an umbrella. Since He Teng was tall and He Zhilan was wearing flat shoes, if she wasn’t careful, the umbrella would hit him. After it happened a few tis, even Zhilan herself couldn’t help but chuckle mischievously.
"Do you want to carry you?" He Teng cast a sidelong glance at the mischievous He Zhilan, "Believe , I can carry the baby in one hand and you in the other all the way to the supermarket."
"I believe you! I believe you!" Zhilan nodded vigorously, like a pecking chicken. Actually, she hadn’t done it on purpose at first; it was just that seeing He Teng’s expressionless face after being hit made her want to play a little prank. She chuckled, stood up straight, turned her head, and accidentally saw a figure. Her smile froze, and she awkwardly turned her face away, letting her gaze fall elsewhere.
"By the way, bro, I recently discovered sothing really interesting." Probably eager to shake off so unsettling feelings, Zhilan quickly spoke up to change the subject, bringing up Chen Ning, "Ever since my second brother opened the supermarket, Chen Ning hasn’t visited Little Tuanyuan at alti anymore."
"Isn’t she at work now?" He Teng hadn’t seen Chen Ning in a while.
"Yeah, a couple of days after the supermarket opened, Chen Shan’s father helped her get a temporary teaching position to cover for a teacher on maternity leave. The school is about a 40-minute walk from the supermarket, and she’s living in the dorm the school arranged for her. She even bought a bicycle and reports to the supermarket right at alti every day. When she doesn’t have classes, she’s just holed up there. After eight, when the supermarket is getting ready to close, she rides her bike ho."
