“Look at this, such a lively spirit.” He Hongi took the child from He Zhilan’s arms and teased the child, “Little Tuanyuan, I’m your grandaunt. Your grandma missed you so much, she’s been eagerly awaiting your return.”
Liang Tao chuckled nonstop, “I didn’t expect to beco a granduncle so soon. It feels like my seniority just skyrocketed all of a sudden.”
“Uncle, it’s not just your seniority that went up.” He Dongxue chid in, “My dad’s now a grandpa, I’m an auntie, and my second brother’s a second uncle. It feels like I’ve suddenly been promoted from a junior to a senior.”
Lin Chan muttered, “Soon I’ll be a ready-made uncle too.”
Bian Muhe glanced at Lin Chan and teased, “If you have the guts, say it louder. Don’t whisper in my ear like a cat owing.”
Lin Chan was just talking big, anyway. He didn’t dare.
Liang Tao greeted Bian Muhe and then said to Lin Chan, “Didn’t you say you would have your engagent party with Dongxue when the baby has his hundred-day banquet? How co Dongxue hasn’t agreed yet? I was hoping we could toast to your engagents this ti around.”
“I’d love to, but Dongxue hasn’t agreed yet.” Lin Chan, thick-skinned, replied, “Maybe uncle and auntie could put in a good word for with Dongxue over the next few days?”
“Alright, alright, if you keep on like this, Dongxue will get upset.” Bian Muhe glanced at He Dongxue and joked a bit in her defense.
With that, the group finally left the train station and headed to their prearranged accommodations.
The Liang Family had arranged for them to stay in a newly opened inn. The inn wasn’t very large, but the He Family booked five rooms and took up the entire third floor. As they helped everyone with their luggage, He Hongi and Liang Tao explained, “It’s newly opened, clean, and hardly anyone has stayed here. We made sure to check it out before booking it for you. When relatives co for the baby’s banquet and can’t return to the village the sa day, they can also stay here. It’s not expensive, and since we booked so many rooms, the owner gave us a great discount.”
“Thanks for handling the baby’s hundred-day banquet, auntie and uncle,” He Zhilan expressed gratitude. “We ended up being completely hands-off, not needing to do anything after arriving here.”
He Zhilan didn’t really care about the cost; rather, it was He Hongi who ended up bearing the most burden with the He Family’s return.
But it was just like He Hongi, so easygoing, taking care of everything for the He Family without a single complaint. She also had wonderful in-laws who helped manage several tasks for them.
After getting settled, the group naturally headed to the Liang Family’s place first.
Even though Liang Tao and He Hongi both transferred to the county town, Liang Jing’s grandparents chose to remain living in the small town, as they were used to the neighbors and lifestyle there.
Lin Chan arranged for two cars in the county town. He drove one and He Teng drove the other, taking the whole group directly to the small town.
Liang Jing’s grandparents knew their in-laws would arrive around this ti, so they prepared a whole spread of food, waiting for their arrival. Liang Grandpa heard the cars outside and told Grandma Liang, busy in the kitchen, “It seems like they’ve arrived downstairs. I’ll go greet them.”
This was Bian Muhe’s first ti visiting a small place like this in the south. It wasn’t the first ti he had t the Liang Family though; he had seen all the He relatives at He Zhilan and He Teng’s remarriage. Upon seeing Liang Grandpa, both he and Lin Chan greeted him warmly.
