"Ada! Ada! Stop sleeping, get up quickly, there’s a fire!" He Father rembered He Da, disregarding everything, and hurriedly crawled out of the window. His clothes caught fire, but he didn’t have ti to put it out, rushing straight to He Da’s room.
The rural house’s window was made of wooden slats, and at this mont, it was scorching the hands severely due to the fire, but fortunately, the fire outside the window wasn’t too intense yet. He Father ran towards He Da’s room while shouting loudly in the yard: "Fire! Help! Fire! Quickly, help!"
He Father’s voice was loud, perhaps also because of the fire, it startled the neighbor’s dog. Instantly, the dog’s barking resounded, waking up the He family’s neighbors. The n didn’t even bother to put on clothes and imdiately ran towards the He Family house, seeing He Father at the door of He Da’s room, trying hard to put out the fire, attempting to open the window to crawl inside, still calling out He Da’s na.
He Da had already woken up, yet, because he had inhaled too much smoke, his head was dizzy. Additionally, with one leg missing, he couldn’t walk normally, and the prosthetic leg was placed by the bedside, but putting it on took quite a long ti.
He Da supported himself with the furniture, but after only a couple of steps, he fell directly to the ground. He Father’s shouting kept ringing in his ears, seemingly just a step away, yet also as distant as thousands of miles.
"Dad, don’t worry about . You quickly run out! Dad, don’t worry about ." He Da’s voice was so weak it was barely audible, but the anxious He Father outside couldn’t hear it.
He Father was so anxious he spun in circles when he saw neighbors bringing water to help put out the fire. He directly poured a basin of water onto himself, disregarding the pain of his hand’s wounds, directly prying open the window and crawling inside, "Ada! Dad’s here, you have to hold on!"
"Dad, forget about ! The house is wooden, it can’t withstand fire. I can’t move, you’ll have to go out quickly, don’t worry about !" He Da was already lying on the ground nearly unconscious.
After He Father heard this, he had no intention of leaving. He was coughing incessantly due to the smoke, yet he said, "You are Dad’s son, how can Dad not care about you? If I can’t carry you out, even in death, Dad will accompany you!"
How could any father bear to watch his son die in front of him while he escapes alone?
Once, it was his failure to protect He Da that led to him being deceived, losing a leg, and becoming a beggar. He had longed for years to get this son back and now, how could he possibly leave this son’s life or death alone and leave by himself?
"Old He, quickly co out! The house is going to collapse! Old He! Don’t be confused! Quickly! Ada’s leg won’t make it, can’t crawl out, you quickly co out!" Neighbors kept throwing water towards the window, trying to minimize the fire here to give He Father ti to get out.
He Da was already unconscious on the ground; He Father still didn’t give up. He carried the unconscious person on his back, thinking in his heart, if they were going out, father and son would go out together; if they were to die, father and son would die together!
"Old He!" A brave neighbor stood by the window, shouting non-stop inside. Listening to the voice, no one knew exactly which beam had collapsed. Without hearing a response, everyone was about to die of anxiety, "Old He, quickly respond if you hear ! We’re by the window. Reach out your hand, we’ll pull you out!"
