Even when she showered, he stubbornly refused to leave, insisting on waiting inside until He Zhilan had finished washing up. Only then would he escort her back to the room like a little eunuch helping the Empress Dowager. After He Zhilan lay down on the bed, he finally went to take his own shower.

Even though the sleeping person wouldn’t give him any response, just looking at her sleeping face, He Teng’s heart felt as if it would burst into a magnificent bloom of happiness.
By midday the next day, Lin Chan and He Dongxue arrived at the base with a few others. Save for Chen Yun and Bian Mufan, who couldn’t find the ti, and Xing Ye, along with the ever-busy Qi Chengnan, even Bian Xiulin brought his two baobei to visit He Zhilan.
“Auntie He! Auntie He!” Xing Jialang and Xing Jiaqing waved their little hands from afar, calling out to He Zhilan. As soon as they reached her, they swiftly jumped down from the arms of Lin Chan and Bian Xiulin, each hugging one of He Zhilan’s legs. “Auntie He, is there a baobei in your belly?” Xing Jiaqing gently touched He Zhilan’s stomach, asking, “Is it a little brother or sister? When they grow up, they’ll be my brother’s and my playmate? My brother and I will take care of them!”
“Does Jiaqing like little brothers or sisters?” He Dongxue asked, glancing at He Zhilan and calling out, “Sister-in-law, you’re finally back. I almost missed you to death.”
“I like little sisters! Because I already have a brother! Auntie He, will you give a little sister? Or a big sister or brother would be nice too!” Xing Jiaqing earnestly considered for a mont before delivering a response that made everyone chuckle.
He Zhilan pinched Xing Jiaqing’s little cheek, saying, “Auntie He can give you a little brother or sister, but not a big brother or sister.”
After saying this, He Zhilan teasingly glanced at He Dongxue, laughing, “You missed to death? Yet, why do I not see any of the haggardness soone should have when they’ve missed soone? Instead, you look like you’ve put on so weight, your face has more flesh.”
He Zhilan hadn’t seen He Dongxue for over half a year, so while others might not notice much, she imdiately discerned that He Dongxue had gained weight—a notable amount, with more flesh on her face.
He Dongxue, though never as slender as He Zhilan, still didn’t have much at on her bones; her fra was simply wider than He Zhilan’s.
Bian Xiulin laughed at this, saying, “Zhilan, did you notice too? I thought I was the only one who noticed! But think about it, ever since Dongxue returned to school, Young Master Chan has been running to school four tis a day without fail, constantly worried about the cafeteria food. He’s been sending breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an extra night snack, trying to make sure our dear Dongxue doesn’t struggle with her studies.”
