He Teng glanced at his wife, whose eyes were nearly lost in her laughter, scratched his head, and said, "Bought a lot of stuff, it’s easier to carry this way."

After speaking, He Teng led He Zhilan into the room and dumped everything out, saying, "Bought you so snacks. As for the costics, so of what you wanted weren’t available, so I had the shopkeeper pick out similar ones for you."

He Teng didn’t ntion anything about the pendant he had his eye on and wanted to buy for her. It wasn’t intentional; it’s just how he is.

He Teng’s personality is steady and calm. If he isn’t one hundred percent certain of sothing, he won’t say a word about it. When it cos to buying things, unless he’s already bought them, he won’t bring them up at all.

He Zhilan watched as He Teng pulled out all the small snacks from the basket in one go, feeling both amused and exasperated. "What do you take for, a three-year-old child? They’re all kids’ snacks~"

He Teng took a look at He Zhilan, thinking to himself that, in his eyes, Zhilan didn’t seem much different from a child—always needing him to worry about her.

The following days were when the Niu Family was at their busiest. Living with the Niu Family, He Zhilan and He Teng wouldn’t treat themselves as honored guests who did nothing to help. Over the next two days, He Teng helped the n of the Niu Family with various tasks, while He Zhilan joined the won to clean vegetables, slaughter chickens and ducks, and prepare the wedding banquet.

In the blink of an eye, it was Xiaojia and Niu Li’s wedding day—a day when the village bustled with lively energy.

The village consisted of just over a hundred households, and essentially, everyone could be considered relatives through various connections. When the Niu Family held a celebration, not everyone could co for drinks, but nearly every household sent a gift.

Close relations who attended the banquet would give monetary gifts, while distant relations might send so food or cloth.

The bride in the village wore the traditional bride’s attire—brightly colored, making Xiaojia look even more youthful and radiant.

"This is sothing I had your Brother He help buy a few days ago. It’s my personal wedding gift to you; it’s from the heart, as a good friend’s gesture," He Zhilan said as she visited Xiaojia at her ho and handed her the items she had He Teng purchase. "They’re just so skincare products. The weather in the village is chilly and tends to dry out your skin, so you’ll find them useful."

"Thank you." Xiaojia accepted the gift without hesitation, thanked her, and took it. The village girls weren’t accustod to using costics, so when she heard it was skincare, she didn’t think about how expensive it might’ve been. She was simply touched by Zhilan’s words that it was a thoughtful gift from a friend.

"I don’t know what else to say to you, but, in short, I wish you and Niu Li a lifeti of happiness together and a family filled with love," He Zhilan smiled gently and added, "Niu Li is a man you can entrust your life to. Marrying him, you’ll be happy."

Xiaojia nodded, the worry in her eyes fading a bit.

The village wedding customs were particularly interesting. When the groom ca to the bride’s house to pick her up, the bride’s family would block the door and sing mountain songs. If the groom could counter-song with appropriate replies, only then would the bride’s family push the bride out from inside the house, letting the groom take her by the hand and lead her away.

After that, the relatives would follow behind the bride and groom, carrying the bride’s dowry, and head to the groom’s house for the wedding feast. Along the way, laughter filled the air, and the mountain songs never stopped.

The Niu Family festivities lasted until 8 PM before the guests finally dispersed. Here, there wasn’t the custom of teasing the bride and groom in their room, but the lively atmosphere carried on late into the night.
