"Old Gu, I won’t beat around the bush with you. Soone swore to us that He Zhilan is your Gu Family’s legitimate biological daughter. Stop hiding it from us," the Shen patriarch said, his patience clearly wearing thin.
"Soone?" The Gu matriarch imdiately caught on to the word. "Old Shen, who might this ’soone’ be? How does this person seem to know so much about our Gu Family’s affairs? Are you sure what they’re saying is true?"
"That’s not sothing you need to know," the Shen patriarch replied curtly. "In any case, don’t bother denying it—He Zhilan is Gu Zhilan, isn’t she?" Waving his hand dismissively, he clearly wasn’t willing to divulge more about this mysterious source. With an angry glare, he scanned the Gu Family’s entire household and said, "This matter must be cleared up today!"
"Old Master, there’s nothing unclear about this matter," Gu Hengyuan admitted directly. "That He Zhilan is, in fact, Gu Zhilan."
At this, Gu Hengyuan lifted his gaze to observe the Shen patriarch’s expression, carefully noting each subtle change. Only then did he continue slowly, "Since this ’soone’ has already inford you that He Zhilan is Gu Zhilan, this individual must be quite capable. Strange, though—how co they didn’t also tell you about the situation with our Gu En and Gu Zhilan?"
"Hengyuan, what situation?" Upon hearing Gu Hengyuan’s admission, the Shen patriarch’s expression finally eased a bit. He pressed further, his tone significantly less harsh now.
"Gu Zhilan went missing when she was six years old. Later, we adopted Gu En as our daughter.
