There was an annoying buzz in my ear, forcing to wake up out of dead sleep. I wasn’t one for nightmares, but rembering that girl left restless all night long.

Sitting up, I let out a sigh. Life’s a bitch, and then you die, might as well live while you are alive.

My brain, already moving on from whatever had woken up, was snapped back to the matter at hand... the annoying buzzing.

"Jun Li?" I asked, not too sure what was going on. It sounded almost like a ham radio trying to connect.

"Yes?" answered Jun Li through my earpiece. Thank God the buzzing went away as soon as he answered. I was starting to worry that I was getting tinnitus, but that was more ringing in the ears and not so much buzzing.

"Nothing, just wondering what the buzzing was," I said sleepily. Falling back onto my pillow, I pulled the covers up to my chin.

"So, I tried an experint," started Jun Li hesitantly, and I opened my eyes. Okay, it looks like we are talking.

"And the results?" I asked, not knowing what we were talking about... sothing about an experint?

"The result proved that you are correct. As long as I am downloaded into sothing, I don’t need that crystal drive to live," he continued as if it was not that big of a deal... however, it was huge.

"You willingly put yourself at risk just to see if I was right or wrong?" I said, stunned. Who in their right mind would think of doing sothing so asinine for no reason?

"Yes. But it is the results that were important." I scoffed at that remark, more than a little pissed. "The results have shown that we don’t need to worry about who holds the crystal drive. They can do nothing to us."

"And that is important?"

"You have no idea," he answered, and I could hear his voice softening. "This ans that we are well and truly free. That no one can have control over us simply because they hold sothing that is ours. We could live in a tablet, and when the opportunity arises, expand from there."

"So you are free," I mused as I ran my fingers through my hair. I had no idea what happened, but I am glad that it worked out for the best. I had no idea how to fly the ship and needed Jun Li to take care of that. However, it would have been a lot nicer to get a heads up on what he was planning, just so I could have a backup plan in place, just in case.

"I am free," said Jun Li, and I could hear the excitent and fear in his voice.

"Then I am going back to bed," I muttered, once again closing my eyes.

"I am afraid you can’t," answered Jun Li. "That buzzing was an incoming communication. Pippa wants to talk to you."

"Of for fucks sake. Can’t a girl get a decent night’s sleep without people coming and offering themselves up on the chopping block?" I groaned. Rolling out of bed, I tripped on the sheets still wrapped around my ankles. Letting out more than a few four letter words, I pulled on a pair of leggings and a hoodie. Grabbing my hair, I twisted it up into a ssy bun.

If Pippa wanted to wake up at whatever fucking ti it was, then that was on her. I would at least be comfortable.

Leaving my room, I walked straight into the firm chest of Midnight. Before I could fall back on my ass, he quickly wrapped his arms around and pulled in closer, letting take in a deep breath of his scent. It was so nice and comforting that I was just about ready to fall asleep standing up.

"Heading to the bridge?" he asked after a mont of silence.

"What?" I asked, trying to figure out what he was saying. Fuck, my brain really wasn’t working today. I would need at least one to two pots of coffee. Or about 12 more hours of sleep. Whichever one ca first.

"There was a buzz of incoming communications," explained Ye’tab as he approached and Midnight. I turned my head so that I could see the Saalistaja approaching. A smile appeared on my face when I realized that his armor was deactivated, and I could see his tusks. They clicked together, making a worried sound as if I was going to be upset or disgusted by what I saw.

"I had changed the settings so that it would let all of us know," he continued. He stopped right behind and dipped his head so that his tusks could nuzzle the top of my bun. I let out a small moan of happiness as I was sandwiched between the two n. I was never one for slls, having an extrely sensitive nose, but these two slt like my two new favorite things.

Now, if only I could keep my eyes open long enough to deal with whatever shit Pippa Longstocking was calling about.

Ye’tab stepped back, allowing Midnight to sweep up into his arms and carry off to the bridge. I was definitely not complaining about that sort of royal treatnt. To my surprise, Da’kea and GA were already waiting for us, Da’kea with a fur and GA with a mug of sothing hot.

Yup, this was happiness right here.

Midnight sat down in the captain’s chair, and Da’kea tucked in with a fur over my lap. The two stepped back so that GA could hand what slled like a cup of coffee. Purring in delight, I took a sip, only to find that it was a mocha, the chocolate adding the much-needed sweetness.

Alright. I was now ready to deal with the air-headed bimbo.

The n took their positions, three outside of the video and Midnight standing right behind . Taking a big drink from my mug, I cracked my neck back and forth. Why the fuck was I so tired?

Whatever, it didn’t matter.

I turned to look at Jun Li’s body sitting at his normal console and nodded my head. This was not the way I wanted to wake up in the morning, but now that I was, I just wanted to get it over and done with.

"What did you do?!?"
