Dark mist enveloped the area.

Firstly, it was the soldiers at the city gate.

The captain, who had just been laughing and talking with the rchant leader, suddenly felt sothing was wrong. When he touched his nose, his hand ca back covered in blood.

Then, he felt as if he had been thrown into a furnace: "So hot... so hot..."

Blisters appeared on his skin, seemingly filled with pus and bloody fluid.

"I... I..."

He saw another soldier, whose skin suddenly turned purple-black, and who spat a mouthful of blood, then fell to the ground, becoming a corpse.

"John is dead?"

"What is happening here? Are the divine beings punishing us?"

Under this horrifying death, any sense of military discipline imdiately collapsed, sending nurous soldiers and onlooking citizens into madness.

And with more symptoms manifesting on one person after another, a wave of terror spread among the crowd.

"It’s the Black Death!"

Until a scholar scread piercingly, slicing through the silence and bringing dreadful panic.

The Black Death!

It was the world’s most brutal plague, characterized by its rapid onset and the blackening of the infected skin!

Many rchants and peasants, without saying a word, fled towards the outskirts of the city.

But then, to their horror, they discovered that no matter how hard they tried, they could not break through the layer of dark blue barrier!

Not only that, from within the blue-black mist, a large number of red-eyed, black-furred rats erged.

Countless rats converged and ford a river of darkness, covering the soldiers and rchants who scread as they were sward all over.

After the ’Dark River’ had passed, only skeletons remained on the ground, their bones still carrying nurous fine teeth marks.

...

"This..."

Wal looked at the sky do that had turned a dark blue color, his expression undergoing fierce changes: "It’s a great spirit’s ’Spirit Domain’! Unless that great spirit is dealt with, no one can leave..."

"Great spirit? Spirit Domain?"

A trace of perplexity appeared on Fang Xing’s face.

"A malevolent spirit of the great spirit level can form sothing similar to a domain. It covers a region, and no one can leave until every living person is dead..."

Wal’s expression was gravely serious: "I need to find Beis and team up with Tulip Duke to deal with this malevolent great spirit... Otherwise, everyone will die, including !"

’Just a Spirit Domain? I possessed a domain when I was in the Outer Realm. Have I beco arrogant?’

Fang Xing rolled his eyes. A brief sensing by his Spiritual Power revealed that his Golden Core Domain could easily break this Spirit Domain.

At that mont, a commotion rose from the crowd in the plaza.

Radiance Bishop Beis stepped forward: "Faith in the Radiance! Everyone, calm down..."

He wanted to say more, but coughing sounds from the edge of the plaza interrupted him.

The coughs seed contagious, spreading quickly among the crowd. The first to cough, a gentleman wearing a half-high silk top hat, coughed out pieces of his inner organs, fell to the ground, his skin turning purple-black.

"It’s the Black Death!"

People scread, nearly desperate to flee the area.

"Silence!"

Suddenly, Bishop Beis’s powerful voice rang out: "Radiant Descent!"

Buzz!

A pure white column of light erged, shooting into the sky, and turned into a pure white curtain of light, sheltering much of the plaza within.

The previously chaotic crowd started to calm down, and the symptoms of the affected seed to slow in their progression.

"Although this is the Black Death, it is provoked by supernatural forces..."

Wal looked at the fallen gentleman: "The normal Black Death wouldn’t escalate this quickly..."

"A great spirit that kills using the Black Death as a template?" Beis seed to rember sothing: "I’ve read docunts about a cult worshiping a ’Cat-Eater God’ that fittingly matches these characteristics."

"Didn’t you foresee this? My prophet?"

Tulip Duke turned to his scholar, his expression sour.

"I only saw the shadow of dragon wings... and dragon fire!"

The scholar shook his head, showing a helpless expression: "Destiny always mocks ... such is the prophet’s fate."

People who predict destiny will always be toyed with by fate.

The scholar now deeply understood this point.

Wasn’t it supposed to be the Dragon Spirit causing trouble? How did it suddenly turn into the Black Death?

"We need to leave here, this place is no longer safe."

Tulip Duke, taking his soldiers, imdiately prepared to return to the Duke Mansion.

As a noble, he naturally believed his life was more important than that of the commoners.

And this was not just a conscious thought, but a subconscious one, as natural as the sun rising in the east and river water flowing downstream!

...

At this mont, Fang Xing was hardly concerned about what the Duke was doing.

He just stood beside Wal, watching him discuss the situation rapidly with Bishop Beis.

"The Cat-Eater God? Wasn’t that false god dealt with by the Sado Sect? So, you’re saying... this is a deliberate attack from Sado?"

Wal instinctively looked towards Fang Xing.

In his view, in the entire Golden City, it seed that only this Starr had offended the Sado Sect to such a tragic extent.

But the Sado Sect weren’t fools; clearly they could target one person, so why target an entire city?

Of course, he didn’t know that the Sado Sect’s Sealing Technique was not yet perfected, and the Sado elder had already been unable to hold on, forced to be used as a one-ti flesh weapon.

Moreover...

Even if that Sado elder had still been alive, there had been plans to use the plague to force the Tulip Duke to compromise.

It could only be said that in a world where the higher-ups wielded extraordinary power, it was just too difficult for those lower down to get by.

This was a dark era where one longed to be a slave but couldn’t!

"Sado Sect?!"

Fang Xing realized, knowing it was again his fault.

"No, wait... Their revenge is secondary, right? Their main goal must be to kill the Bishop of the Radiance Church and force the Tulip Duke to submit, making him fully commit to the Sado Sect... So, the main target is the Golden City!"

"Though that’s the case, part of it is still my fault... seems I need to take action now."

His mind was racing as he heard Wal speak, "Only another great spirit can stop a great spirit... I think we can take the risk of releasing the Dragon Spirit of the Goron Mountains, since it’s about to awaken anyway..."

"This..." Beis fell silent, "Ever since you left the knight order, your principles seem to have beco much more flexible..."

Previously, a knight of Radiance would never have uttered such words!

"Miss Sofia from the Soren Family."

Wal turned to Sofia, "It seems we can still collaborate... let appease the dragon of the Goron Mountains for you... after all, if we ultimately can’t handle it, we all die anyway."

Sofia: "..."

"So... how do we awaken the dragon?" Fang Xing asked with interest.

To stop the disaster that would destroy a major city, re fists wouldn’t suffice.

Although he was confident he could destroy the Golden City, saving it would require much more effort and energy.

’Since that great spirit escaped its bonds, I can only vaguely sense its presence, unable to pinpoint it precisely... The Divine Sense of a Jiedan Cultivator in the Cultivation World should be at least one li at the Early Stage of Core Formation... but the sensing ability of a Martial Arts Golden Core is clearly inferior to that of a Cultivator...’

Fang Xing decided to first listen to these experts on dealing with spirits.

"Of course, we must go find the Tulip Duke... only within the Duke Mansion are there inherited records on this matter."

Wal said.

"I underestimated the situation, I should not have let the Tulip Duke go just now."

A speck of golden light erged behind Fang Xing, suddenly transforming into a golden sun that enveloped Sofia, Wal, and Beis.

A flash of golden light crossed the sky.

By the ti the three regained their senses, they found themselves already inside the Duke Mansion.

"Ah!!"

A maid dressed in black and white maid attire saw the four of them and was so frightened that she dropped the tray she was holding.

"Assassins?"

A Great Knight surrounded by Fighting Spirit, along with several guards, hurried over.

But before he could clearly see the figures, a finger appeared before his eyes, "Trash should leave the stage first!"

With his Golden Core Power concentrated in his finger, Fang Xing was truly one finger per so-called Great Knight.

Shortly thereafter, he touched his forehead, "Duke... found!"

...

In the basent.

Candlelight flickered.

"The heritage passed down through generations of the Tulip Duke is all here."

The Tulip Duke carefully took out a necklace laden with various gems and diamonds and put it around his own neck, "The final guardian... this artifact was once blessed personally by the Pope of the Radiance Church, having undergone a hundred-day ceremony on the Holy Mountain. Its protective power is enough for an ordinary person to survive a fatal threat from a great spirit..."

On either side of the basent, there were rows of iron shelves.

Various items emitting spiritual light quietly lay there.

In the secret vault of such a Grand Duke, Gold Coins were the least to be displayed.

"In the basent, there’s also a barrier... even if a great spirit tries to enter, it..."

The Tulip Duke’s face broke into a slight smile.

Suddenly!

Boom!

A wall collapsed, Fang Xing walked in holding the neck of a Scholar, "Are you the Tulip Duke? Oh, the one I saw earlier in the square... quickly summon everything about the dragon."

"You, you..."

The Tulip Duke looked at the broken necklace around his neck, pointing at Fang Xing, almost as if in a fit of hysteria, "What about the barrier outside? What about Great Knight Fehr?"

"Oh? Are you asking if there was any resistance?"

A gentle smile appeared on Fang Xing’s lips, "To , it seems like there wasn’t any resistance..."

"Cough, cough... We’re not here to be enemies with the Tulip Duke."

Beis Bishop entered the scene, his heart nearly stopping at the sight, hastily making the sign of prayer while saying, "Tulip Duke, we need to awaken the dragon... using the conflict between the two great spirits to find the key to break the current situation..."

"Of course, I’m very willing to help you..."

The Tulip Duke adjusted his bow tie, "After all, these are my people..."

’Hmm?’

This reaction surprised Fang Xing sowhat: ’The nobles of this world are quite clever, aren’t they? Such a quick turnaround... I thought there would be a furious indictnt of my rudeness and an intent to prosecute .’
