Ruyi Pavilion was a private dining restaurant, hidden in a quaint courtyard amidst the bustling CBD.
As you entered, you were greeted by small bridges and flowing water. Walking along the cobblestone path, the interior revealed a decor that was both elegant and rustic. Guided by the staff, Shen Yanshi took a seat at a table by the window.
"Yanshi, you're here," Gong-Nian turned and smiled when she saw him.
"What's the matter?" he asked.
"You helped win my divorce case, and I haven't had a chance to properly thank you. I should have treated you to a al. Do you rember this private dining place? We used to co here often."
Shen Yanshi nodded, "It's been a long ti."
"It's my first ti back since I returned. I still rember you used to love the stuffed tofu here..."
"Do you have sothing to tell ?" Shen Yanshi interrupted her reminiscing. He wasn't one to dwell on the past, nor did he have the ti for it.
Gong-Nian paused slightly, then forced a smile, "Yes, there's sothing I want to tell you."
She took out her phone and pushed it in front of him.
Shen Yanshi glanced down, his eyes instantly turning cold. In the photo, two people stood embracing each other. The woman leaning in the man's arms—wasn't that Xiang-Nuan?
"Yanshi, do you know the man in this photo?"
Shen Yanshi stared at her with a dark expression, "Where did you get this photo?"
Gong-Nian felt a chill down her spine and stiffly replied, "Cao-Lian gave it to . He has a friend who's an entertainnt reporter and stumbled upon this photo. It was taken a month ago in Zhou Mountain. I thought you and Xiang-Nuan were still together, so you might know this person..."
Shen Yanshi's lips curled into a cold smile.
"Yanshi, I'm worried about you. She..."
Shen Yanshi stood up abruptly, "I have sothing to attend to. I'll leave now."
Before Gong-Nian could finish her sentence, he had already walked away briskly.
Gong-Nian gritted her teeth and chased after him, unwilling to give up.
"Yanshi!"
Gong-Nian ran after him into the courtyard and grabbed his arm.
"Is there sothing else?" His expression was indifferent.
Gong-Nian's eyes reddened, "Yanshi, won't you even have a al with ? Are you still angry with ? I didn't leave on my own back then; my mother forced ..."
"I was never angry with you. I had too many things to deal with back then, and I didn't have ti to care about you leaving. I said I would take care of you, and I will, no matter when. But you should know, that's all there is between us."
He looked at her with a cold gaze, and his words carried no warmth.
Gong-Nian's tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at him stiffly.
Shen Yanshi had always been unique. He was silent and aloof, indifferent to others, especially girls. He would throw away love letters right in front of the sender.
But he always protected Gong-Nian.
Many people envied Gong-Nian, believing Shen Yanshi must like her. She also preferred to believe she was special to him.
Gong-Nian choked up, "But we grew up together. We used to..."
Shen Yanshi's eyes were indifferent, "Gong-Nian, stop living in the past."
He said no more and left with large strides.
Gong-Nian stood there stiffly, her palms hurting from her nails digging into them.

Shen Yanshi drove out of the CBD and directly onto the highway.
His eyes were dark, and he impatiently loosened his tie. He picked up his phone and dialed the producer of "Strategist."
The call was answered quickly, with a polite greeting, "President Shen."
"Where's Xiang-Nuan?"
"Xiang-Nuan is filming right now," Fang-Wei quickly responded, "But today's shoot is almost over. Do you have any plans, President Shen?"
"Nothing."
Fang-Wei was taken aback and wanted to ask more, but the call had already ended.
Sensing sothing was amiss, Fang-Wei imdiately went to find the director.
"Director Lee, is Xiang-Nuan's scene almost done for today?"
"There's still a night scene."
"How about we let Nuan-Nuan wrap up early today?" Fang-Wei lowered her voice, "It seems President Shen needs to see her."
Director Lee thought for a mont and didn't insist. He was sowhat proud, but as long as no one interfered with his work or changed his key actors, everything else was minor.
"Alright."
Xiang-Nuan had just finished her previous scene and walked over to the monitor to review her performance.
"Not bad. Your scenes are done for today."
Xiang-Nuan was surprised, "Isn't there still a night scene?"
"It's been moved to tomorrow. President Shen said he needs to see you."
Xiang-Nuan frowned slightly. What could he want?
