Mather’s side; he was swimming with a woman he had just taken a fancy to.
I was in the study doing my own thing.
Then I heard a scream, so I ran out and saw Mr.
Mather by the pool, dead.”
“Are you sure he was dead?”
Steve hesitated for a mont, then nodded heavily and said, “His entire right chest was blown away, dead.”
Yang Yi smiled and asked, “Good, do you have any questions for ?
You can ask, and I shall answer.”
Steve thought for a mont, then shook his head, “I don’t have any questions.”
Yang Yi laughed and said, “Oh, I thought you’d ask who we are.”
Steve sighed deeply and said, “At first, I thought you might be from law enforcent, although I knew it was unlikely, I still hoped.
But now I’m sure you’re not.
If you’re not Interpol or from so other departnt, then you must be one of Big Ivan’s.”
Yang Yi smiled and replied, “You guessed wrong.
I knew you’d guess wrong because your deduction is logical.

So a man without any subordinates to protect himself, not even a bodyguard, thinks imdiately of fleeing after Deyo’s death, to avoid being controlled by other subordinates with force.
Does this explanation sound plausible?”
Yang Yi shook his head, “It doesn’t add up.
He has no abilities to protect himself; though he’s managing Deyo’s money, after Deyo’s death no one can protect him.
Since he has plenty of money but lacks self-protection, he shouldn’t choose to flee.
What a smart man, or rather, what a typical response would be, is to choose a new boss.”
After thinking a little more, Yang Yi continued, “To add on, aside from Deyo and Steve, no one knows exactly how much money Deyo had.
As long as Steve wasn’t too greedy, he could easily conceal a portion of the funds and offer the rest to a new boss he deems worthy, instead of fleeing aimlessly, risking being caught and brought back, which is very different from willingly submitting to soone.”
Annastasia exhaled smoothly and elegantly, “Then who would he submit to?”
Yang Yi exhaled too and said, “Given that Deyo is already at a disadvantage and seemingly on the brink of failure, I wouldn’t be surprised if Steve has secretly chosen a new employer.
The only people Steve would decide to switch allegiances to while Deyo was still alive must be soone extrely powerful.
Excluding the possibility of surrendering to his enemy Big Ivan, and also ruling out Steve turning himself in to international law enforcent agencies like Interpol, then he only has one choice—Nicholas!”
Annastasia raised her shoulders and said, “I thought I needed to remind you, but it seems you’re already aware.
There’s just one thing to remind you of—you think Steve is in our hands now, but he’s still lying.
What does that tell you?”
Yang Yi inhaled and replied quietly, “It ans he still has hope.
Whether or not he has switched allegiances to Nicholas, he believes his new backing can save him, and… it’s not far away, it’s probably in Nice!”
After finishing, Yang Yi’s expression changed, and then he commanded sternly, “We can’t stay in Nice any longer, we must go, right now!”
