666: Chapter 672 Frightening People 666: Chapter 672 Frightening People The security situation in Ukraine is quite poor, especially once you leave the capital, Kyiv.
Long-distance driving becos a risky affair.
Jethro daring to drive Yang Yi and the others hundreds of kiloters to assassinate a major in the military, to be honest, can be considered extrely audacious.
Jethro wants to quickly dissolve Big Ivan’s arms empire within a short period of ti; even if they can’t make Big Ivan’s underground arms trade system collapse, at least they should slow down the operating speed of the system considerably.
Theoretically, even if Deyo did nothing and just waited for Ukraine’s new governnt to firmly control the country, he would have eventually wrested Ukraine from Big Ivan’s grasp, but the problem is Deyo can’t wait, because it’s unknown how many years it will take for the new governnt to settle the military and clear out all the people associated with Big Ivan.
So Deyo is very anxious, Jethro is also very anxious, and driven by restlessness, Jethro has grown much bolder.
That’s why they didn’t just drive; nine people split between two cars, taking turns at the wheel, it didn’t feel too tiring.
From Kyiv to Zaporozhye, it’s six or seven hundred kiloters.
They set off early in the morning, and after passing six checkpoints, it was already two in the afternoon, yet they had only completed half the journey.
Now Yang Yi counts as half a casualty; driving isn’t required of him, but a long-distance ride, with rather poor road conditions, plus the fact that Zaporozhye is already in the eastern region with a sowhat tense situation, requires heightened vigilance on the road.
So, having traveled just half the distance, Yang Yi already feels exhausted.
But at this mont, Anton suddenly said, “This place is good, I want to test the gun.”
There was a gentle hillock by the roadside, with barely any cars passing on the highway, surrounded by vast farmlands, and no villages in sight.
Indeed, it was a great place for a gun test.
“Here?
Now?”
After asking with surprise, Yang Yi noted Anton nod in response, “Yes, right here, right now.”
It was impossible to test guns in Kyiv, especially long-distance sniping with sniper rifles, but stopping halfway to test-fire was probably sothing only Anton would suggest.
But Yang Yi decided to accommodate Anton’s request.
“Boss, can we stop the convoy for a mont?
We need to adjust the guns and take a break.”
Now, with Jethro reliant on Yang Yi, even though not exactly listening obediently, he still t most of the requests raised by Yang Yi.
“Fine, be safe.”
Both vehicles were SUVs, and Anton pointed to the hillock he had chosen, saying, “There’s a small path there, drive the car up.”
Chris, who was driving, really drove up to the hillock, and once Anton got out of the car on the hill, he first looked around, then he opened the trunk, took the gun case off the car, and slowly laid down on the ground.
Anton thodically went about the test-firing preparations, like asuring distances and wind speed, with no intention of hiding his actions from Yang Yi.
What moved Yang Yi was that Anton conducted these asurents without the aid of any tools.
Extending his thumb to approximate the range to a large tree, Anton then licked his finger and spun it in the air to feel the wind speed and direction before quickly beginning to shoot.
Chris glanced at Yang Yi; he stood behind Anton, so he spread his hands to Yang Yi in a resigned gesture, making a you’re-dood sign.
Anton flipped open the scope cover and then fired a shot at a rock about a hundred ters away.
Yang Yi didn’t use binoculars, so he couldn’t see clearly where the bullet landed, but Anton quickly adjusted the scope a few tis and fired a second shot.
The second shot hit the rock, Anton adjusted the scope again, and then he fired the third shot without tweaking the adjustnt knobs on the scope any further.
With a rifle he’d never used before and a completely unfamiliar scope, no one asked any questions, and then he zeroed the scope in just three shots—Yang Yi admitted that he was truly impressed.
However, Anton had only completed the first step of the live-fire test.
He quickly aid the rifle at a sapling about two hundred ters away.
The first shot hit the sapling, Anton fine-tuned the scope a bit and fired a second shot, then after firing a third shot, he tweaked it again, ensuring that the central point of the scope and the bullet’s point of impact were aligned vertically without any deviation to the left or right.
Once he confird there was no left or right deviation, Anton extended his aiming point further out.
This ti he targeted sothing about four hundred ters away—a concrete boundary stake erected in a field.
The first shot hit the concrete pillar, striking the upper end and directly creating a large hole, then Anton adjusted the scope again, this ti for elevation.
After firing six shots at a distance of four hundred ters, Anton was confident that his scope’s crosshairs and the bullet’s point of impact were perfectly aligned.
Anton turned his head to look at Yang Yi, and then he said to Yang Yi, who had an expressionless face, with a smile, “Four hundred ters zeroed, now you know, right?”
Yang Yi shrugged, “What’s it to ?
I’m not the one using this rifle.”
Anton put his eye back behind the scope and said leisurely, “I’ve got to find the trajectory, don’t rush, it’ll be done soon.”
Rodriguez quietly took out a laser rangefinder and aid it at the concrete boundary stake Anton was using as a target for the live-fire test.
After looking at it, Rodriguez put down the rangefinder, spread his hands at Yang Yi, and made a very horrified expression.
Rodriguez walked a couple of steps, handed the rangefinder to Yang Yi, who hesitated for a mont before still raising it to his eye.
The distance was 396.7 ters.
Anton had just made a rough estimate of the distance, estimating only once, and then when he selected the target for the live-fire test, the deviation was only three ters—an error of only three ters at a distance of four hundred ters.
Yang Yi felt a bit startled, so he asured the distances to the targets Anton used for the hundred and two hundred ter marks.
One was 99.5 ters with a re half-ter deviation, the other was 200.1 ters, off by only ten centiters.
It was frightening, Yang Yi couldn’t help but swallow, as he aid the rangefinder at the six hundred ter target Anton was aiming at.
Yang Yi could only roughly assu it was the six hundred ter target, the deviation, well, he estimated it to be within fifty ters, which was the limit of his visual estimation.
Then he raised the rangefinder, only to discover that Anton’s chosen target was at 580 ters.
Yang Yi exhaled softly, relieved, an error of twenty ters, okay, that was acceptable.
“Hmm, no suitable target for six hundred ters, had to make do with a 580 ters one.”
Upon hearing Anton’s words, Yang Yi suddenly put down the rangefinder because this ti he was genuinely scared.
