434: Chapter 422 Choice 434: Chapter 422 Choice Rodriguez raised his hand, then he said cheerfully, “, I’m a vacuum cleaner!”
Standing up, Rodriguez put his hands on his hips and declared with a swagger, “I’m like a vacuum cleaner, I can clean up anything in the room, anywhere that needs cleaning?
Let do it!”
Rodriguez had never had a nickna, and it was about ti he got one, but honestly, the nickna “vacuum cleaner” was quite low-grade.
Yang Yi laughed, “You’ve settled on that as your nickna?
Co on, shouldn’t a broom be the one to clean rooms?”
Rodriguez imdiately replied, “But the vacuum cleaner is much more advanced!
Boss, next ti we’re storming a place, let handle it, I’ll clean up the enemies like dust.”
Yang Yi laughed heartily, then he turned to Chris and said, “He’s a vacuum cleaner now, so what are you?”
Chris shrugged and said seriously, “Hunter, please call Hunter.”
It was just a code na, Yang Yi laughed and said, “Hunter?
Alright, that nickna is a tiny bit better than vacuum cleaner.”
Rodriguez quickly protested, “Why is his better than mine?”
Yang Yi was about to answer when he heard Jethro’s voice coming from the walkie-talkie on the table.
“Hey, Robot, co over for a al, and please bring Owl along.”
Yang Yi looked at Brian and said, “It sounds like he’s got sothing to talk to us about.”
Brian nodded, “Yes, let’s go and have a al with him now.”
Every day, soone delivered als to Yang Yi and his team in their room, but today Jethro took the initiative to invite Yang Yi and Brian to eat with him, clearly, he had sothing to say.
Yang Yi stood up and said, “Everyone, stay alert, we should be back before long, see you later.”
It was just a few dozen ters away, Yang Yi and Brian left the room, looked around, and then made their way to Jethro’s yard.
Jethro had already changed his clothes, swapping the brown jacket for a black one though his pants were still sowhat wrinkled.
Combined with Jethro’s look and deanor, he still resembled a country bumpkin.
Jethro’s hair was still damp when he stretched out his hand, inviting Yang Yi and Brian to sit down at a dining table before getting straight to the point, “I need so help now, so I’ve asked you guys to co and have a chat.”
With the subject laid out bluntly, Jethro then shouted to soone behind him, “Boyata, the guests are here, serve our dishes.”
Jethro wasn’t in Ukraine for a vacation, so Yang Yi knew their dinner couldn’t be fancy, but since Jethro had invited him and Brian for a al and ntioned serving dishes, there had to be sothing substantial.
But when soone nad Boyata began to bring out the food, Yang Yi found it vastly different from what he considered a dish.
Slices cut from Ukrainian black bread, with a slice of white, fatty at sandwiched between two pieces of bread, and then a bowl of red borsch soup.
That was it.
Jethro picked up what could be described as a sandwich, then said to Yang Yi and Brian, “Make yourselves at ho, don’t be shy.”
The sandwich was rudintary but large; Jethro took a bite that was easily a quarter of it.
Stuffing his mouth full, Jethro truly wolfed down his food.
Yang Yi took a bite and found that the sandwich, stuffed with fatty pork, was still edible.
At least the pale pieces of fat must have been marinated; they were palatable.
Brian took a bite and then said in a deep voice, “This Saro did a good job.”
“Mm, mm…”
Jethro nodded repeatedly, his voice muffled by the food in his mouth.
After swallowing, he said in a deep voice, “Surprisingly, I like this thing; it’s quite tasty.”
Brian smiled and said, “I prefer it with so pickled cucumber slices, or so tomato slices wouldn’t be bad either.”
Jethro turned his head and shouted, “Boya, bring so pickles and tomatoes, sliced.”
Once Jethro had started eating his sandwich, he stopped talking about serious matters.
He focused on his sandwich, and after he finished the first one, he sucked the grease from his fingertips, then said with satisfaction, “Not bad.”
There’s only one word to describe Jethro: crude.
But being with Jethro didn’t make one uncomfortable; in fact, it was quite relaxing.
Yang Yi added pickled cucumber slices to his own sandwich and then tomato slices, and he found it tasted much better, while Jethro picked up another sandwich and suddenly said, “All my brothers are gone.
They followed for many years; they were people I could trust.”
After a vigorous bite of the sandwich and a few chews before swallowing, Jethro continued, “Now I have three rcenary Groups, but we all know rcenaries work for money.
Today you fight for , tomorrow you might fight for my enemy, so any important and secret matter I can only trust to my n.
But now, you understand my situation.”
Yang Yi nodded.
There wasn’t much to say.
The nature of being a rcenary ant never being fully trusted, unless one had a long-term partnership with Jethro, or unless he decided to throw in his lot with Jethro, becoming one of his subordinates.
But since neither a long-term partnership with Jethro was an option nor was becoming his subordinate, there really wasn’t much else to discuss.
It all depended on Jethro’s choice.
Jethro silently finished his second sandwich, and when he picked up the third one, he said in a deep voice, “But I have a lot of things to do, things that need to be done tonight.
I can’t find a better option than you guys.”
Yang Yi responded indifferently, “Not sure what needs to be done?”
“Be my bodyguards.
I’m going to et soone very important, and you are to protect .”
“But we aren’t bodyguards.”
Jethro waved his hand and said, “I know you aren’t bodyguards, but I don’t need you to protect like bodyguards.
Do what you can; you don’t have to take bullets for .”
Yang Yi and Brian exchanged a glance.
After a mont of thought, Brian said, “What about the paynt?”
Jethro took a deep breath and said, “Double.
Is that acceptable?”
Brian shook his head and said, “No, that won’t do.
Our current duty is to engage in combat once we’ve identified a clear enemy.
But guarding a person is different; danger lurks everywhere.
To be frank, Mr.
Jethro, we aren’t professional guards, but we do undertake security tasks, so I demand a fair price.”
After thinking it over, Jethro said, “Five thousand a day.”
Brian looked at Yang Yi, who knew it was a fair price, so he nodded and said, “Okay.”
Jethro took a breath, then continued in a stern voice, “My only requirent: keep your mouths shut, whether it’s now or in the future.
Keep what you see to yourselves.
Any problem with that?”
Yang Yi smiled and replied, “No problem, of course no problem.
That’s the least of professional ethics.”
