With Walter’s higher position, he got the dal first. The Director picked up the dal from the tray and pinned it on Walter’s chest.
After pinning the dal on Walter, the Director shook Walter’s hand, gave him a couple of encouraging words, and then stood in front of Yang Yi.
The Director directly extended his hand to shake Yang Yi’s, then, with a smile, said, "The President asked to congratulate you on his behalf, congratulating you on receiving the Distinguished Intelligence Cross, and thanking you for all you’ve done for the country."
Yang Yi, with a look of gratitude and excitent, exclaid loudly, "Thank you, sir, thank you, Mr. President, for your graciousness."
The Director first spoke to Yang Yi, then turned to pick up a dal from the tray, and loudly declared, "To comnd your extraordinary courageous actions, I present you with the Distinguished Intelligence Cross, a singular honor. I hope you can achieve even more outstanding performance in your future work."
Yang Yi saluted, extrely excitedly saying, "Thank you, Director. I will certainly strive even harder."
Yang Yi and Walter’s dals were the sa, both the CIA’s first-class dal, the Distinguished Intelligence Cross, the highest level. It’s not sothing you’d receive without making an exceptionally significant contribution.
To be honest, what Yang Yi and Walter did wasn’t truly worthy of this dal. They’d be more suited to the second most important Distinguished Intelligence dal.
However, given Yang Yi’s performance in front of the President and the attention the President gave them, the highest level Distinguished Intelligence Cross was theirs. Don’t mind that the two dals only differ by a ’Cross’; the significance is vastly different.
The Distinguished Intelligence Cross honors those who volunteer and perform with extraordinary heroism, facing very high risks yet confronting them with extraordinary courage during actions.
The Distinguished Intelligence dal honors those who provided distinguished service or achieved performances significantly exceeding the requirents of their positions, making very significant contributions to the CIA’s mission.
Two dals, with the Distinguished Intelligence Cross bearing the words ’extraordinary courage,’ and the Distinguished Intelligence dal attributing ’distinguished service achievents,’ hold vastly different anings, as having extraordinary courage signifies being a hero, a living hero.
A simultaneous awarding of the two highest-level dals is rare.
The dal ceremony concluded, applause arose,
and the Director stepped aside while Yang Yi and Walter couldn’t help but lower their heads to admire what their dals looked like, as they had little chance to take a good look.
Sure enough, the Director stepped aside, and the person in charge of managing records stepped forward, and then Yang Yi and Walter, with sowhat regretful expressions, removed their dals and placed them back onto the tray in front of them.
The awarding and recipients of dals would have witnesses give a round of applause, but that’s about it, nothing more.
In other words, Yang Yi couldn’t take the dal away.
The dals were given to the awardees, then, well, the CIA took them back for safekeeping. Recording them doesn’t exist; neither does any ntion of the awards at any ti or place, and only the few present knew why the awards were given. Even when Yang Yi was close to dying of old age, he probably wouldn’t get this dal, because without intelligence declassification, he’d never receive it. And such significant nuclear crisis declassifications are indefinite.
So, Yang Yi only got to take a glance at the dal; however, he wasn’t particularly regretting it.
Alright, with the dal ceremony over, the witnesses returned to their respective posts. As for the specific job arrangents, that was Porter’s business, not related to anyone else. If they weren’t departnt mbers, they wouldn’t even know what was going on.
So the following matters were simple and swift. After Yang Yi and Walter respectively left Porter’s office, they again gathered in Walter’s office.

Yang Yi thought for a mont and said, "Go to New York, see my girlfriend. Haven’t seen her in a long ti, and I think she might be on the verge of breaking up with ."
"That girlfriend, oh oh oh, is it Petra?"
Yang Yi laughed and said, "Yes, that’s her."
