Chapter 1397: Chapter 1392: Changing Again and Again

Treading through the rain-soaked wasteland, Yang Yi thought he was indeed not suited for the job at hand.

The rain was lessening, but this damned weather was truly annoying, with wind blowing when it wasn’t supposed to, and rain falling at the wrong tis, only to stop when it was needed most.

Yang Yi could acquire the most detailed intelligence from Big Ivan, such as the recent lax behavior of Big Ivan’s guards, their strong feelings of hosickness. Although they earned a lot, many still yearned to leave, and so on.

Staying in a closed environnt for a long ti and doing monotonous work might be bearable initially, but eventually, weariness would set in.

If only the wind and rain were more severe now, since Big Ivan’s guards had already grown slack, they would be all the more lax in such adverse weather.

However, Big Ivan’s guards were quite skilled, with at least half of them from special forces like Russia’s Signal Flag or GRU. Their long-term training ensured they still had a solid foundation. Even though they were lax, they were still vigilant when needed.

As they neared the manor’s walls, the four mbers of Cerberus grew tense. Their movent transford into a combat readiness formation, moving quickly and forming a battle formation, prepared to attack or retaliate at the slightest hint of enemy detection.

Behind a small hillock that rose just above a person’s height, the Cerberus team halted.

After stopping, Carl raised a hand, signaling those behind to cease their advance as well. Then, one mber of Cerberus swiftly launched a drone, which silently lifted into the air and flew forward within a minute.

The manor’s walls ca into view.

The drone moved quickly forward. Though the wind and rain had diminished and the drone was sowhat affected, it could still function properly.

Why initiate a strong attack by blowing up the walls and storming in quickly? Because Big Ivan’s manor walls were filled with caras.

Nowadays, with surveillance systems being so affordable and effective, soone as wealthy and surrounded by enemies as Big Ivan would certainly use them.

Not only would they use them, but would install surveillance caras in every corner, and use the best, most advanced ones available.

Thus, scaling the walls was impossible, and that’s why initially an aerial approach for the attack was important.

Now, with the aerial approach abandoned and wall-scaling ruled out for being too conspicuous, only a direct assault was left.

“No one behind the wall; this weather is advantageous; no obvious sentries in the manor.”

Utilizing the drone, Karl Stemonsen quickly reconnoitered the area behind the walls and spoke into the radio: “We’re about 150 ters from the wall. Reaching the vicinity of the wall and then breaching it in 30 seconds. Any problems?”

According to plan, the explosive breach was Black Devil’s task.

If everything went according to plan, Black Devil would breach the wall, with Cerberus charging in imdiately afterward, followed by Pandora Box and Black Devil.

“No problem.”

The ones assigned to the explosive breach were Vasily and Liefjev, chosen because they could run fast, keeping pace with the younger Cerberus mbers in a short ti.

“Second and third teams, enter in order. Let’s get ready and move!”

They could no longer advance covertly; there was no cover to use. So, Vasily and Liefjev dashed towards the wall.

Following the principle of overestimating the enemy rather than underestimating them, one could never dismiss them. Overestimating the enemy might at worst result in hesitating to attack. As long as one dares to attack the enemy, they might find them easier to handle than expected.

But underestimating the enemy was unwise. Believing the enemy to be weak only to find them formidable in battle would result in one’s own downfall.

Thus, following the assumption that the enemy is strong, the plan anticipated being detected by Big Ivan’s guards imdiately after leaving cover, and them reacting swiftly.

However, the reality was that as the attack comnced and they left cover, there was no movent within the manor.

At least, outside the buildings, there was no one, no one ca out.

They had reached the foot of the wall, which wasn’t very high, only about two to three ters, making it easy to scale.

Had the enemy not detected them, or had they detected them but were still preparing to respond, or had they detected them but hadn’t had ti to react?

There were three possibilities, none easy to ascertain.

The principle of reaching the enemy as covertly as possible is a basic protocol for any special forces unit. Should they continue with the explosive breach, alerting the enemy, or try to continue approaching in stealth?

Karl Stemonsen, the commander, was in charge. Since his task held the greatest risk, he had the authority to decide.

“No breaching!”

Karl quickly made the choice.

The straight-line distance from the wall to the building was 200 ters, which was very far for a decisive action.

If the enemy were alerted and Karl Stemonsen had to sprint the 200-ter distance on foot, he would avoid it at all costs.

No matter how capable Cerberus was, being pinned down by two machine guns under such circumstances would be fatal. So a blind rush after breaching wouldn’t work.

Breaching the wall required Cerberus to attack under Pandora Box and Black Devil’s cover. But now, the temptation to see if they could approach the enemy more closely without breaching was significant for Karl Stemonsen.

“Keep a close watch on the enemy’s movents, we’re scaling the fence!”

Karl quickly made the decision, then waved his hand. Two n extended theirs, using the backs of their hands to lift a team mber’s foot, silently and seamlessly sending the first assault team mber over the wall.

Details, pay attention to details. Why use the back of the hand? Because the heavy rain made everyone’s boots muddy, and using palms for lifting could get the gloves muddy, affecting weapon handling.

Yang Yi stood aside, observing these details clearly.

Once the first man was in, Cerberus paused until he whispered into the radio, “Follow up!”

Thus, the remaining three mbers of Cerberus Red Team followed, with one lifting, one pulling, and finally, two prone on the wall pulling together, easily vaulting themselves over in an instant.
