128: Chapter 127 Work 128: Chapter 127 Work Day broke.

Yang Yi had finished his breakfast and then was taken to an office.

Since entering prison, this was the first ti Yang Yi had t the warden.

Most of the prison staff were guards, and the guards could be considered the military officers of this small ecosystem, with Owen being the head of all the guards.

The highest authority in the prison was the warden, who had nothing to do with the guards; the warden should be considered a civil officer.

The warden, in his fifties, wearing a gray suit, stretched out his hand to indicate Yang Yi, who was not handcuffed, to sit down, and then said with a gentle face, “No one has ever successfully escaped from our prison, but last night was sowhat different, a prisoner left his cell, although this doesn’t count as a real escape, you stopped him and should be rewarded.”

Yang Yi said very respectfully, “Thank you, sir.”

“Tell what you want, and I will do my best to satisfy you.”

Yang Yi thought it would be Owen who directly transferred him, but now it seed Owen would not show up personally.

He wondered what thods Owen used that had the warden announcing the reward to him in person.

Yang Yi thought for a mont, then cautiously said, “Sir, life in prison is very boring, if I could get a job, that would be best.”

The warden’s eyebrow raised and he said, “That’s a good choice, what is your sentence?

“Five years, I’m approaching two years served, sir.”

The warden frowned and said, “Five years?

I don’t understand, why are you in the section for repeat offenders?”

“I was intimidated and beaten up in the section for first-ti offenders, sir.”

The warden pondered for a mont, then looked at Owen standing beside him, and asked, “Is there a suitable job position?”

Owen hesitated a little before replying softly, “There are definitely job positions available, but I am not sure which specific position is vacant right now, however, this is easy to fix, sir.”

The warden turned to Yang Yi and smiled, “What would you like to do?”

“Anything, I will follow your arrangents.”

The warden smiled and said, “I think a job that is relatively relaxed with a high degree of freedom would suit you, Owen, make the arrangents.”

Owen looked conflicted and said, “A relaxed job with a high degree of freedom?

There is indeed one job available now, but, he isn’t exactly suitable.”

“Oh, why’s that?”

“It’s in the special section, Mr.

Warden, cleaning and such, not much work, but one can only enter and leave the special section when accompanying the guards on their shift change, so this job entails wandering around inside for a day, a pretty good job.

The prisoner who was responsible for cleaning the special section just lost the job opportunity because of fighting, but that is the special section.”

Owen didn’t elaborate further, but the warden smiled and said, “That’s no problem, inmate number 3387 is a minor offender, I’ll sign the order and let him take on the cleaning duties in the special section.”

After speaking to Owen, the warden stood up, walked up to Yang Yi, patted him on the shoulder and smiled, “Prison is a very special experience, but it is a place where you can be reborn, work hard, and maybe you will be eligible for parole soon, alright, let’s send our hero back.”

“Thank you, sir.”

Yang Yi bowed slightly to the warden, then followed Owen out of the warden’s office.

Walking down the corridor, Owen let out a sigh and said, “I’ve done what you asked of .”

Yang Yi responded in an even tone, speaking softly, “Thank you.

I’ll transfer the full amount to your account within three days.”

Owen spoke in a low voice, “Don’t forget, don’t rush to take action within the next three months.”

“I will certainly rember.

One more thing, Hank, the thief who tried to escape, what’s going to be done with him?”

“Him?

First, solitary confinent for a week, then an extended sentence, plus a stay in a single cell, now he’s even lost the freedom of his hands; he’ll be in handcuffs at all tis.”

Yang Yi whispered, “Is there any way to place him back in my cell?

He could still be of use to .”

“Why?”

“He’s really skilled at picking locks, and I’d like to learn from him.

So could you find so pretext to put him in my cell?

Or you could say that putting him alone in a cell makes it easier for him to escape, and it’s better for to watch over him.

I’ve reported him once already, and if he tries to break out again, I’ll turn him in a second ti.

How’s that for a pretext?”

“No need for any pretext, I’ll send him over to you when he gets out of solitary.”

Owen casually agreed to Yang Yi’s request without the need for a pretext, then he whispered, “You’ll start working tomorrow.

The job is simple, but be careful not to screw it up.

Alright, see you tomorrow.”

Owen handed Yang Yi off to a prison guard, who took him to the exercise yard, as it was ti for yard ti.

During breakfast, Yang Yi didn’t tell his underlings what had happened; at that ti, he didn’t even know what reward he’d be getting.

But now, he could talk about it.

After sitting down surrounded by his underlings, Yang Yi let out a sigh and said, “Last night, that Hank was in the sa cell as , and he wanted to kill .”

The majority of the inmates had no clue what had transpired the previous night.

Since Yang Yi didn’t spill the beans, his underlings were of course also in the dark.

Hence, they were all shocked to hear Yang Yi’s revelation.

“What?”

“Damn!

Take him out!”

“Kill that son of a bitch!”

Watching his underlings erupt in outrage, Yang Yi waved his hands and laughed, “There’s no need to get angry; he’s already in solitary because he was trying to break out again.”

After a light chuckle, Yang Yi exhaled and said, “I will be starting a job tomorrow that requires working eight hours a day, including during yard ti, so for a while, I won’t be out here with you all.

Kris.”

“Boss.”

Drawing Kris closer, Yang Yi whispered, “Keep an eye on Hank for .

After he’s out of solitary, find so guys—not ours—to pick on him every day, beat him, but make sure they don’t go too far, got it?”

Kris replied imdiately, “So we’re just teaching him a lesson, right?

Got it, boss.”

Yang Yi smiled and said, “I want this guy to smarten up first.

When he says he’s beco my underling, then you can stop bullying him.

But make sure that without our protection, he can’t survive.”

Kris grinned slyly and whispered, “Don’t worry, boss.

I’ll make sure it’s done clean and pretty.”

Just then, Rodriguez spoke in a low voice, “Boss, what kind of work are you going to do?

Why do you have to work?

I could do it in your place.”

Yang Yi had not easily co by this opportunity, so of course, he considered Rodriguez’s offer nothing more than a joke.

Waving his hand with a smile, Yang Yi said, “No need.

I actually like having sothing to do, and I like this job too.”
