Everything in Jiangnan was progressing well.

Everyone was focused on this positive developnt. The Fourth Prince had sent an imperial envoy from the capital? So be it. No one took it too seriously.

After all, they had been with Lord Shao for a long ti and had encountered many imperial envoys, so they were used to it.

When Shao Liulang arrived in Hangzhou City, he was annoyed to see that Shao Yunduan was not waiting outside the city with local officials. He stopped and sent soone into the city to fetch him.

He was an imperial envoy!

Shao Yunduan was showing disrespect to the Emperor by neglecting him. How bold of Shao Yunduan!

In reality, Shao Yunduan and Qiao Xuan had gone to Jiangning and wouldn’t return for three or four days. They were not in Hangzhou City at the mont.

Zhang Wenshu smiled faintly and asked the Deputy Prefect to arrange accommodations for Shao Liulang and his party at the inn. He instructed the Deputy Prefect to inform them directly that they could either enter the city or return to their residence.

If they really wanted to make a scene, they should first consider their surroundings.

If sothing were to happen to the imperial envoy, he would report it to Lord Shao and ensure a proper burial.

Shao Liulang, a coward at heart, turned pale upon hearing such blunt remarks.

First Old Master Qiao was also shocked. He quickly intervened, trying to smooth things over and salvage so dignity. Shao Liulang, intimidated, chose not to make a fuss and entered the city, albeit reluctantly.

He was not a fool. The indifference of the officials along the way clearly indicated Shao Yunduan’s attitude.

To be blunt, Shao Liulang was rely Shao Yunduan’s cousin, which was why he had dared to speak so boldly outside Hangzhou City.

Without this connection, he would never have dared to act so audaciously.

But he was essentially a paper tiger. When confronted, he was easily frightened...

Once in Hangzhou City, they were treated like any other imperial envoys. After settling in at the inn, all their activities were closely monitored.

Shao Liulang’s anger grew when he learned that Shao Yunduan was not in Hangzhou. He lashed out, accusing Shao Yunduan of being a traitor!

The servants at the inn went about their duties, coming and going without paying much attention to Shao Liulang.

They had been chosen to serve here recently and were well aware of their responsibilities.

Zhang Wenshu sneered and sent people to guard the entrance of the inn. He instructed them to inform Shao Liulang that they would remain in the interim and rest until Lord Shao returned. Everything would have to wait until then.

Shao Liulang was so enraged that he stomped his feet in frustration. Unfortunately, no one paid him any heed.

First Old Master Qiao tried to calm him several tis, but Shao Liulang, though grudgingly, had to temper his anger and scolded him fiercely instead.

When Shao Yunduan and Qiao Xuan finally returned, they encountered Shao Liulang and First Old Master Qiao together.

Since they were "family," there was no need to hide anything.

Shao Liulang’s eyes blazed with fury. All the anger he had accumulated over the past few days erupted as he confronted Shao Yunduan. He sneered, "Cousin, you’ve beco quite impressive. Do you still rember you’re a minister of the Qin Empire? You’ve read so many books about kings, ministers, and loyalty. Have you forgotten everything?"

Shao Yunduan glanced at him with a smile and replied, "I didn’t expect you to beco the imperial envoy. I’m not as impressive as you; I’m just trying to protect myself!"
