Chapter 2321: The More I Think About It, the More Secure It Is

Officer Qiao was exasperated. “Hasn’t she had enough ti to get her revenge? What more does she want?”

He was baffled by the situation. It was as if she had no sense of gratitude!

There are no parents who are entirely blaless. They had raised her well, arranged a good marriage, and sent her off properly. Despite whatever grievances she might have harbored, without their efforts, she wouldn’t be where she was today.

Even if she held a grudge, wouldn’t the years of suffering have been enough to resolve it? Must she continue to hold onto resentnt against her own parents for the rest of her life?

Mada Qiao, however, felt a sense of vindication upon hearing her husband’s frustration. Smiling, she said, “Old Master, don’t worry. With her elevated status and the support she has, she’s beco increasingly proud and temperantal. I’m sure she’ll co to her senses eventually. She ntioned that we would et when the ti is right, so let’s just wait.”

Mada Qiao said as well.

Hearing that, Officer Qiao let out a sigh of relief. “I told you that she should get rid of her anger.”

The more he thought about it, the calr he beca. Officer Qiao said with a smile, “Never mind. If staying at the inn for a few days can appease her, then we can stay here!”

She was a girl with a thin skin, so she had to find her own place. As her elders, there was naturally no need for them to argue with her.

Mada Qiao felt a pang of discomfort as she watched Officer Qiao smile at their beloved daughter. Despite her irritation, she wisely chose not to argue at that mont. Instead, she managed a tight-lipped smile. “Old Master, you are right.”

Miao Cong, on the other hand, was struggling to keep his composure.

He had envisioned, countless tis, the glory of arriving in Hangzhou City and eting his brother-in-law, Lord Shao. He imagined himself thriving in such an environnt, surrounded by admiration and respect, and couldn’t wait for the mont. His excitent had only grown with each passing day on the journey. By the ti they reached Hangzhou City, his anticipation was at its peak, feeling almost unbearable.

Yet, his father-in-law and mother-in-law seed to be extending his wait indefinitely, much to his frustration.

It was as if he had climbed a steep mountain and was just about to reach the summit. He could almost grasp it with a small effort, only to find himself held back and asked to wait just a little longer.

How could he endure this?

The wait felt like a relentless tornt—one that didn’t kill him but left him gasping for relief!

Miao Cong, increasingly agitated, repeatedly asked Qiao Wei what was happening. He urged her to persuade her father and mother to move from the inn to the magistrate’s residence.

After all, they were family. Who would dare accuse Lord Shao of unfairness? Lord Shao was showing his filial piety; how could anyone possibly fault him for that?

Qiao Wei, already uncomfortable and frustrated, couldn’t tolerate Miao Cong’s incessant nagging. In a fit of anger, she snapped, “Can you just be quiet? If you’re so eager to curry favor with them, why don’t you go on your own!”

Miao Cong was taken aback.

Despite his usual eloquence and intelligence, he found himself at a loss for words.
