They yearned for the wealthy elders’ favor and indulgence. How could they possibly contemplate marrying a servant?

What hope did they have left?

Their lives seed utterly bleak.

Mada Shao’s sternness had left them in tears. They appeared bewildered, unsure of what they had done wrong. But had they done anything wrong?

Wasn’t Ms. Fang acting in their best interest?

Aunt Qing quietly chuckled to herself.

They lanted their misfortune at crossing paths with Mada Shao...

Ultimately, it was Aunt Qing who proposed a solution. Regardless of where these won ca from, they could still be sent back.

Sending back gifts was generally considered rude, but this situation was different. Since they were dissatisfied and Ms. Fang couldn’t keep them, sending them ho and discussing their future seed the best course. What soone doesn’t know can’t hurt them.

Interestingly, the two won were visibly relieved upon hearing they would be sent back, as if they had narrowly escaped disaster.

Going back ho seed preferable to staying here.

Here, they faced the prospect of either being expelled or coerced into marrying a lowly servant.

After seeing them off, Ms. Fang and Eldest Uncle returned to the province with Taotao and Zhao Shu.

Once the girls were gone, Ms. Fang declared her intent to find out who dared to send them to the Shao Family.

Did they truly believe the Shao Family was naive enough to be easily manipulated? If so, individuals like Shao Yunduan would never have erged from the Shao lineage.

Observing the tension between Ms. Fang and Eldest Uncle, Shao Yunduan and Qiao Xuan couldn’t help but exchange amused glances when they spoke privately with Taotao.

Seeing Shao Yunduan smile, Qiao Xuan jokingly scolded him, "Even with Father in such a state, you still manage to attract so much attention. How many more beautiful girls are going to co after you?"

Shao Yunduan pulled her close and kissed her, chuckling. "Behave yourself, don’t stir up trouble!"

Qiao Xuan burst into laughter, realizing he was being unreasonable.

Although he didn’t quite grasp Shao Yunduan’s intentions, things seed to settle. Eldest Uncle promised not to engage with such individuals in the future, firmly rejecting any advances, lest they misinterpret his intentions.

Eldest Uncle felt he should limit his outings. He wasn’t accustod to entertaining such people.

His kind-hearted nature made it hard for him to turn away others’ good intentions...

Shao Yunduan turned to Ms. Fang for assistance.

Was there any need to ask?

Ms. Fang, annoyed by the situation, agreed without hesitation.

She made it clear that no man in the Shao Family was permitted to take concubines, shutting down any potential objections.

Qiao Xuan hosted a banquet to entertain the ladies, aiming to foster friendships.

Though the families were disappointed, they sought other avenues for profit and reluctantly let go of their initial hopes.

As Zhao Shu and Taotao prepared to return to Hangzhou, they bid farewell to Qiao Xuan, Shao Yunduan, and Ms. Fang.

Shao Yunduan rembered sothing important. "Don’t forget to reclaim all your forr properties. If those stores are still under Prefect Fu’s relative’s control, demand their return. If they’ve been sold, recover their original value. I’ll write to Zhang Wenshu; he knows what to do."
