Chapter 1590: Requesting to Be Sent Away

After a prolonged silence, Shao Yunduan seized the opportunity to reveal the purpose of his visit.
The Crown Prince, taken aback, fixed his gaze on Shao Yunduan and gradually regained his composure.
“No! I cannot agree! Officer Shao, why entertain such thoughts? It is in your best interest to remain in the capital. Others pursue such endeavors to amass experience, but you are exempt from this necessity!”
The Crown Prince displayed a mix of anxiety and anger.
Undeterred, Shao Yunduan maintained his resolve. Bowing respectfully, he asserted, “Crown Prince, I fear that if I linger in the capital, the Fourth Prince may stir up trouble, and other princes might exploit the situation. What if it implicates Your Highness?”
“I have contemplated this, and I believe a temporary departure from the capital to lie low would be prudent. Wouldn’t it be beneficial for everyone to alleviate tensions?”
The Crown Prince’s expression darkened as he listened to Shao Yunduan. “Officer Shao, are you still unable to let go of the past? Are you blaming ?”
Shao Yunduan paused briefly before responding, “Crown Prince, you are reading too much into it. I harbor no such sentints.”
Did he really need to pose such a question? Let go? How could he let go? What would happen to his wife if luck hadn’t favored her, and she encountered Xie Jingrong and his accomplices?
Her survival was due to her own abilities and fortune, but that couldn’t serve as an excuse to absolve the Fourth Prince of any wrongdoing.
The Crown Prince attempted to console him, stating, “Regardless, Madam Shao returned unhard. She suffered no harm!” How could he say that?
As a loyal minister, he had to heed the Crown Prince, but his heart remained frigid.
Although Shao Yunduan’s denial sounded genuine, the Crown Prince sighed with a bitter smile. “I understand that you still harbor resentnt, Officer Shao. But who in this world can act without restraint? There are limits to what one can accomplish. Even as the Crown Prince, I am bound by constraints.”
Could the Fourth Prince manipulate the Crown Prince’s hand with a simple trick, rendering him immobile? Shao Yunduan, maintaining his composure, respectfully responded, “Crown Prince, your wisdom is evident, and I acknowledge it.”
“Despite that, do you still insist on leaving?” inquired the Crown Prince.
Shao Yunduan cast his gaze downward and nodded. “Yes, I can gather intelligence for the Crown Prince and avoid conflicts with the Fourth Prince. Would that not be a win-win situation?”
“I may not harbor resentnt from the past, but convincing the Fourth Prince might be challenging. If he perceives lingering animosity and seizes an opportunity to strike, what recourse do I have? Would I not be burdening the Crown Prince?”
“That is why I believe it’s in everyone’s best interest for to depart from the capital.”
“Crown Prince, please grant this request!” Shao Yunduan knelt down, clasping his hands. “The Emperor summoned to the court today to reprimand for the incident at the interdiate office of Heavenly Mansion yesterday. I have requested the release of the decree, and the Emperor instructed to inform you.”
The Crown Prince’s heart sank as he looked at Shao Yunduan, the previously gentle expression now marred.
A feeling of disappointnt and panic overwheld him. He couldn’t shake the sense that the bond between him and Shao Yunduan was irreparably damaged.
He resented Shao Yunduan for magnifying a minor issue and expected more from soone he held in high regard.
