“You, there!” The arrogant young man’s anger escalated as he shot a fierce glare at Qiao Xuan.
Had he not been wary of Ah-Ye, he might have commanded his remaining three lackeys to charge forward. His foresight, however, prevented him from underestimating Ah-Ye’s strength.
“I’ll settle this today! Just you wait!” he declared with hostility.
Qiao Xuan sneered in response. “Alright, I’ll wait!”
While the insolent young man dispatched the servants to fetch the carriage, he continued his confrontation with Qiao Xuan. “I won’t waste my ti with you, fool! You dare to strike my n? Go to the Heavenly Mansion office and explain yourself! If you refuse, don’t expect a peaceful departure!”

“I doubt you can intimidate ,” Qiao Xuan retorted.
Her confusion deepened. This man defied the typical behavior of a wealthy playboy, refraining from boasting about himself. Yet, his arrogance suggested a deep connection to Heavenly Mansion, as if it were a family enterprise.
Qiao Xuan speculated silently that he might be a privileged scion concealing his identity. If so, he must have a powerful backing. If not, there was no reason for concern.
The Upper Heavenly Mansion’s governnt office? Perfect!
While other won might avoid such a situation to protect their reputation, Qiao Xuan remained indifferent. She knew her husband wouldn’t reproach her.
“Alright, let’s go to the Heavenly Mansion! I want to see how the magistrate handles this!” Qiao Xuan declared.
The arrogant young man grinned viciously. “You’ll find out soon enough!”
He vowed that regardless of the family’s status, if they dared to pose challenges, he would take severe action.
A modestly dressed young woman consistently appeared, lacking the airs of nobility and sporting an accent distinct from the capital. Accompanied by only a handful of humble servants, it seed implausible that she hailed from a prominent family.
Could she be a relative exploiting the situation from another city?
Determined to impart a lesson, he envisioned her kneeling at his feet, crying, kowtowing, and repenting.
Pointing at the children, he commanded his lackeys, henchn, and lapdogs, “Bring them along. None of them are to leave!”
The recently comforted children, now terrified once again, couldn’t help but glance at the oldest among them.
Lixia gently caressed the head of a young lady, offering soothing words. “Don’t be afraid. Just go. Our madam will protect you.”
Though still frightened, the children, guided by the eldest youth, stiffly nodded. “We’ll stay with this madam.”
The group resolutely returned to the city. The arrogant young man, fearing their escape, dispatched his lackeys to report the incident to the Heavenly Mansion, accompanied by constables. anwhile, he closely tailed Qiao Xuan’s wagon to prevent any attempts to flee.
Inside the wagon, Qiao Xuan gathered the children and generously offered them fresh fruits. Seeing their longing but timid expressions, her heart softened. She smiled gently and reassured them, “Don’t be afraid. Trust , we’ll be alright. Co, eat quickly!”
