Chapter 834: Eight hundred and thirty-two, unable to extricate oneself Chapter 834: Eight hundred and thirty-two, unable to extricate oneself Pavilions and towers, small bridges over flowing water, fish in the pond are frolicking joyfully.
A stunningly beautiful man in a brocade robe, with a face like the autumn moon, is sitting in a pavilion. He supports his chin with one hand, idly tossing fish food into the pond, imdiately causing a frantic competition among the fish.
“Cut! Very good! Take a break, and prepare for the next scene,” the director calls out.
The man stands up, twisting his sowhat stiff neck. It’s so cold, and having to pretend to enjoy oneself in the chilly wind is indeed difficult; his body is almost frozen stiff.
Chen Xiaong imdiately takes a military coat and walks up to Mo Li, draping it over him, “Put this on quickly, be careful not to catch a cold.” She is now Mo Li’s assistant, a position she had pleaded for from Wang Fei for several days.
Wang Fei does not wish her to get too close to Mo Li, but from the first mont she t Mo Li, her heart was moved. She wanted to give it a try; if she and Mo Li are truly not suited for each other, she would let go.
But the longer she spends with Mo Li, the more she is drawn to him. She knows that letting go may not be as simple as she imagined; it’s now very hard for her to extricate herself.
She only hopes to stay by his side every day, to see him every day. Even though she knows that he does not like her—because Wang Fei once told her that Mo Li only sees her as a little sister, and she is not his type. But she really does not want to give up just yet.
“Thank you!” Mo Li politely says. He is aware of Chen Xiaong’s feelings for him; her gaze towards him is too intense to be ignored. But she is not the type of woman he likes, so he made it clear to Wang Fei that he does not feel the sa about Chen Xiaong. He hopes Chen Xiaong won’t cling too much; she is a good girl, and he does not wish to see her get hurt because of him.
“It’s what I should do.” Chen Xiaong smiles sweetly, takes a thermos from her bag, opens it on the table, pours a capful of steaming soup, and hands it to Mo Li.
“Drink it while it’s hot, it will make you feel warr,” Chen Xiaong says with a smile. She had gotten up early to prepare this soup and kept it in the thermos to prevent it from cooling down.
Mo Li takes the soup, holds back his words while looking at Chen Xiaong for a long while, then speaks, “Xiaong, you don’t need to go through this much trouble; the production team has hot water, I can just drink that.”
“I am your assistant, this is what I should do. Have a taste and see if it’s good.” Chen Xiaong looks hopefully at Mo Li, waiting for him to drink the soup.
Mo Li sighs inwardly, raises his hand, tilts his head back, and drinks the soup, noticing that his body indeed feels a bit warr.
Handing back the cap of the thermos to Chen Xiaong, “Thank you! I have to go prepare for another scene.”
After saying this, he steps towards another set. He truly does not know what to say to her to prevent her from getting hurt.
Chen Xiaong packs away the thermos, following Mo Li’s steps. She is now Mo Li’s assistant, and except for when he is acting, she is always by his side. She hopes that when the day cos for her to let go, this will beco a beautiful mory.
Arriving at the next set, it has already been prepared. This scene is indoors and not as cold as before.
Mo Li takes off the military coat and hands it to Chen Xiaong, then steps forward to his mark, waiting for the director to announce the start.
Chen Xiaong holds the military coat, still warm from Mo Li’s body, slling his scent, and smiles satisfiedly. Her desires are few; just being able to watch him like this is enough.
Mu Wan cos up next to Chen Xiaong, gently pats her shoulder, “Xiaong.” She has no scenes today, and upon seeing Chen Xiaong, she cos over. She knows about Xiaong’s feelings for Mo Li and has tried to advise her, but this girl just won’t listen.
Chen Xiaong smiled gently at Mu Wan, “Aren’t you cold wearing so little?”
“Cold indeed, could you lend the military coat in your hand to wear?” Mu Wan smiled and pointed at the military coat in Chen Xiaong’s hands.
“This coat belongs to Mo Li, I’ll find you another one.” Chen Xiaong clutched the military coat she was holding even tighter, as if afraid that Mu Wan would snatch it away. Even though Mu Wan was her good friend, she didn’t want her to wear Mo Li’s clothes.
Mu Wan shook her head with a helpless smile, “Look how nervous you are, I was just joking.” She truly hoped that Xiaong could think things through and be able to let go sooner.
“You’re really annoying!” Chen Xiaong frowned playfully at Mu Wan.
Mu Wan chuckled, turning her gaze towards Mo Li, who was practicing his lines, “He really isn’t suited for you.”
Chen Xiaong nodded bitterly, “I know, but I don’t want to give up just like that, I want to try.” Even if there was no result in the end, at least she had tried.
Mu Wan shook her head and sighed, “It’s almost ti for my part, I need to get ready.”
“Okay!” Chen Xiaong nodded, her eyes fixedly watching that tall figure. She would persist for one more month, and if there were still no results by the end of this play, she would leave.
As the sky gradually darkened, everyone who had been busy all day could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Chen Xiaong packed up her things and left the set, walking towards her ho. To beco Mo Li’s assistant, she had rented a house near the set.
Pushing open the courtyard door and gently closing it behind her, Chen Xiaong walked towards her room.
“I’m back.” A deep yet pleasant voice sounded.
Chen Xiaong slightly frowned and looked at the newcor, “Hmm!” The other person, like her, was also a tenant here.
“Haven’t had dinner yet? I’ve made so, let’s eat together.” Spoke the man dressed in a black suit, handso with a stern expression.
“No need, I’ve got food.” Chen Xiaong declined in a flat tone, walking towards her house. She had always wondered why, despite the man looking no less handso than Mo Li, she felt no affection for him.
“Xiaong, do you dislike ?” The man asked.
Chen Xiaong stopped, turned to look at him, “I neither dislike nor like you.” Sotis in life, it’s just like that. The person you like doesn’t fancy you back, and the person you don’t care for clings to you.
The man stepped forward, grabbed Chen Xiaong’s hand and pulled her forcefully towards him, looking down at her, “But I like you.”
Chen Xiaong was stunned, it took her a while to regain her senses and she touched his forehead, “Do you have a fever today?” This was the first ti a man had confessed to her, but why didn’t she feel any joy at all, instead feeling sowhat creeped out?
