Chapter 784: Seven hundred and eighty-two, restrained Chapter 784: Seven hundred and eighty-two, restrained Lin Helian brought Yhan Cheng to Luo Shu’s ho and was about to knock on the door when she heard the neighboring door being pulled open.
Ma Xiufang, carrying a bag of garbage, walked out and saw Lin Helian with her son. She seed sowhat surprised, “What are you doing here?” Due to Yhan Zhan’s reason, the wives in the Guard’s mbers District did not like to associate with this mother and son.
“We’re here to find Sister-in-law Lu,” Lin Helian said. She knew that others looked down on her and her son, so she didn’t want to say much to them.
Ma Xiufang glanced at the large bag that Lin Helian was carrying and couldn’t help but laugh mockingly, “You might as well save your effort, she won’t pay you any mind.” She herself had been turned away by Luo Shu several tis; if Luo Shu didn’t even care to deal with her, it would be odd if she cared to deal with Lin Helian and her son.
Lin Helian smiled and knocked on the door.
Soon after, Luo Shu ca forward to open the door.
Seeing Lin Helian and her son outside, Luo Shu smiled and stepped aside, “Co in quickly.”
“Okay!” Lin Helian nodded and pulled Yhan Cheng into the yard.
Luo Shu appeared not to notice Ma Xiufang’s presence and closed the yard door directly.
Hearing the door close, Ma Xiufang ca back to her senses, looking thoughtfully at the now closed yard door, frowning. It seed as if Luo Shu had known in advance that the mother and son would co. Wasn’t Luo Shu always reluctant to associate with outsiders? Why was she so close to this mother and son?
Unable to figure it out, Ma Xiufang shook her head and carried the garbage toward a trash can not far away.
“Sister-in-law Lu, do you need any help with anything right now?” Lin Helian surveyed Luo Shu’s living room. It was so tidy!
“Just call Luo Shu, you’re older than , so I’ll call you Sister Yhan from now on.” Luo Shu opened the shoe cabinet, took out two pairs of slippers, and handed them to Lin Helian and her son, “Sister Yhan, put your bag on top of the cabinet for now, and I’ll help you with the crafts in a bit.”
Lin Helian nodded, placed the large bag on top of the shoe cabinet, and then bent down to put on the slippers.
Luo Shu went into the kitchen, took out a plate of fruit and so pastries, and put them on the coffee table. Seeing Lin Helian and her son standing there sowhat uncomfortably, she smiled and pointed to the sofa, “Sister Yhan, co and sit with Yhan Cheng.”
Lin Helian glanced at her clothes, “We should sit on the chairs.” Unlike sumr, they didn’t change clothes often in winter. The sofa was so clean, she really felt uncomfortable sitting down on it.
“It’s fine,” Luo Shu said nonchalantly.
“But it will dirty the sofa,” Lin Helian, looking at the clean sofa, really couldn’t bring herself to sit down.
Luo Shu smiled and shook her head, “It’s truly fine, please sit. Yhan Cheng, sit down with your mom, you don’t need to be polite at Auntie’s place.”
Yhan Cheng looked to his mother, and seeing that she sat down, he followed suit.
“Have so pastries and fruit first, I’ll go get so beverages for you,” Luo Shu said as she walked back into the kitchen.
Yhan Cheng eyed the fruit and pastries on the coffee table, swallowing his saliva greedily. He had never even seen these, let alone eaten them.
However, he did not reach out to take it but looked at his mother questioningly. She had said that no matter how good sothing belonging to soone else was, it was still theirs, and one must never covet what one shouldn’t. If one wanted sothing, they had to work hard and put in the effort to earn it before they could feel truly at ease.
Lin Helian was very pleased with Yhan Cheng’s behavior and smiled gently, “Go ahead and eat!” Compared to other children his age, this child’s life had been exceptionally tough. Not to ntion snacks and fruits, it was already quite good if he could simply get enough to eat every day. If only Yhan Zhan could co back! It had been three years, where on earth had he gone?
Luo Shu ca out of the kitchen, handing over yogurt to Lin Helian and her son, “Try this. If you’re not used to it, I can get you sweet milk.” Milk was her most commonly consud beverage nowadays.
“Thank you!” Lin Helian reached out and took the yogurt from Luo Shu, passing one cup to Yhan Cheng.
Yhan Cheng took a sip of the yogurt, his brow furrowing slightly, then he took another sip, and a radiant smile slowly spread across his face, “It tastes sour and sweet, really good.” He wasn’t used to it at first sip, but after savoring it carefully, he grew to like the flavor.
“Sister Yhan, you should try it too, I made it myself,” Luo Shu said to Lin Helian with a smile.
“Hmm!” Lin Helian nodded, took a sip of the yogurt herself, and announced, “This is really delicious!” Apart from syrup water, she hadn’t tried any other kind of drink. The soda that was now available in the market was sothing she dared not even think about. A bottle of soda cost twenty cents, which could feed her and Yhan Cheng for a day.
Luo Shu went back into the kitchen, brought out a large glass jar of yogurt, poured herself a cup, then set the jar on the coffee table, “Yhan Cheng is growing right now, consuming more yogurt would be good for him.”
“Yes,” Lin Helian said with a grateful smile directed at Luo Shu. She, too, wanted to provide a good life for Yhan Cheng, but her current financial situation limited all that.
“Yhan Cheng, you can take whatever you like to eat, you don’t have to be polite at my house,” Luo Shu said to Yhan Cheng.
Yhan Cheng nodded obediently, “Thank you, Auntie!” The auntie was really kind to him!
“Luo Shu, can you tell what I need to do in the future?” Lin Helian asked Luo Shu.
“Sister Yhan, you just do what you see fit. I’ll give you fifty yuan every month. Is that okay?” Luo Shu asked with a smile. She’d feel uncomfortable making her do nothing at all. Besides, the house was only so big, and there wasn’t that much work to be done.
“No need for money, I’ll just co over to help out,” Lin Helian imdiately refused.
“How can that be possible? We had an agreent. If you don’t take the money, I can’t accept your help,” Luo Shu said, frowning.
“You’re not in a position to work now, helping you is the least I can do, the money really isn’t necessary,” Lin Helian said, her gaze firm.
Luo Shu felt helpless, “How about this, you co over with Yhan Cheng to chat with every day, bring your handwork, and I’ll help you with it.” Since Lin Helian refused to take the money, she naturally wouldn’t let her help with the work. And Yhan Zhan would be back soon; their life as a mother and son could soon improve.
Lin Helian shook her head, “That won’t do. If you won’t let help, I won’t co over.” She knew Luo Shu wanted to help them, and that was why she had offered to hire her.
“So, you’re comfortable leaving Yhan Cheng here alone with ?” Luo Shu said, smiling warmly at Lin Helian, waiting for her response.
“I trust you!” Lin Helian replied without hesitation. She could tell that Luo Shu truly cared for Yhan Cheng.
“Alright then, in any case, you’ll only have these next two days to yourself,” Luo Shu said, taking a sip of yogurt. Once Yhan Zhan returned, Lin Helian surely would not have free ti. Although they had helped Yhan Zhan overco his drug addiction, his body still needed a good amount of ti to recover.
