Chapter 319: three hundred and eighteen, younger sister Chapter 319: three hundred and eighteen, younger sister Song Xuemo’s eyes suddenly sparkled with excitent as she looked at Song Xiran, “Brother, how are you going to make it enter Luo Shu’s body?” She couldn’t care less whether the Song family wanted Luo Shu to return to their fold; all she wanted was for Luo Shu to die.
“Naturally, I’ll find soone Luo Shu won’t be on guard against,” Song Xiran said with a cold laugh.
“You an her?” Song Xuemo trembled with excitent, hardly able to wait to see Luo Shu’s downfall.
With a smile, Song Xiran nodded, “Having kept her around for so long, it’s ti to put her to use.”
Luo Shu and ng Yujuan were chatting as they walked towards the dormitory.
“With everyone gone for the holiday, I was bored to death,” ng Yujuan said with a gloomy face. She wanted to go ho too, but her ho was far away, and besides, it would cost money for the trip.
“You seem to have had a pretty good ti at school; I see you’ve put on weight after a few days.” Luo Shu sized up ng Yujuan with a smile, teasing her. Since her first days at the university, she had changed a lot: her skin had beco fairer, the blemishes on her face had faded, and she had grown much prettier.
“You’re the one who’s gained weight!” ng Yujuan glared at Luo Shu, annoyed. Many people had lately comnted on her weight gain, and it was a source of distress for her.
“Putting on a little weight isn’t bad! I heard that soone wanted to ask you out to a movie during the holiday?” Luo Shu said with a mischievous wink to ng Yujuan.
ng Yujuan’s face instantly turned red. She looked down, embarrassed, “There’s no such thing!” She had never experienced the sensation of being liked by a boy since childhood. From elentary to middle to high school, the looks she received from the boys were always ones of disdain and aversion as if she were so kind of pest.
That day she went to the library to read, and a boy sat opposite her. She didn’t pay much attention to him at first, until he handed her a note.
She took the note, surprised, and froze as she read the words, “I’ve searched for her in my dreams, countless tis, but suddenly, turning round, I find her where the lights are dim.”
After placing the note aside, she continued reading her book with a flushed face, but her heart wouldn’t stop pounding heavily. This was the first ti in her life a boy had shown interest in her—how could she not be flustered?
The boy, seeing no response, took the paper again and continued to write.
After finishing, he handed the note back to her.
She hesitated to take it, but she saw the words written on it, “Are you free this week? I’d like to ask you out to a movie.”
Reading that line, she was so frightened she stood up quickly, grabbed her books, and ran outside. A boy had asked her out to a movie—was she dreaming?
After dashing out of the library, she pinched her face hard to convince herself that she wasn’t dreaming, that a boy really had asked her out to a movie.
Since then, that boy waited for her every day at the bottom of the dormitory building.
Seeing her co downstairs, he would approach her for a chat and accompany her to the cafeteria for als. After a few days of interaction, she had gotten to know Li Hui quite well.
“Ah, you’re shy! Your face is all red,” Luo Shu said teasingly to ng Yujuan.
“Luo Shu, if you tease again, I’ll hit you!” ng Yujuan threatened, waving her fist.
“Sis!” Luo Shu and ng Yujuan were laughing and joking when a timid voice called out from in front of them.
Without realizing it, Luo Shu frowned and looked up to see Luo Shan, dressed in a white sweater and a black wool skirt, standing not far away and smiling at her. Although her smile was shy, it lacked the innocence it once had, seeming instead as though it was put on deliberately.
“She’s your sister?” ng Yujuan asked, looking at Luo Shan as she approached them.
“Mhm,” Luo Shu replied indifferently. The Luo Shan before her now felt so unfamiliar that any remnants of sisterly affection that lingered in her heart dissipated in that mont.
Luo Shan walked up, smiling at Luo Shu, “Sis!”
“What made you think to co find ?” Luo Shu asked with a slight curve of her lips, her deanor distant.
“I’ve missed you. I heard you were at Jinchen University, so I had soone bring here. Did you miss ?” Luo Shan stepped forward, taking hold of Luo Shu’s arm affectionately as she spoke.
“I’ll leave now, you sisters chat,” ng Yujuan said to Luo Shu before running off. Li Hui had asked her out to a movie, and she needed to get ready.
“Sis, let’s go over there to talk,” Luo Shan suggested, pointing towards the lakeside and pulling Luo Shu by the arm, “The scenery here is so lovely! If I didn’t know it was a school, I’d think I’d entered the imperial palace.”
“How did the Song Family let you out?” Luo Shu asked in a flat tone.
“The Song Family has always been good to . As soon as I said I wanted to see you, they had a car bring over. Sister, are you living at the school now?” Luo Shan asked with an excited glint in her eye.
“Mhm,” Luo Shu nodded subtly.
“It’s so inconvenient living at school. Why not move to the Song Family’s place? Your maternal grandfather and your uncle are all very nice,” Luo Shan said hopefully.
Luo Shu shook her head, the corner of her mouth twisting with a bitter smile, “Did you co to persuade to return to the Song Family?
Luo Shan nodded eagerly, “I really miss living with you and Xiao Zheng like before. We were so happy then.”
“Everything changes,” Luo Shu said as she gazed toward the distant Lake Heart Pavilion, her expression utterly detached. So people, so things, once missed, are missed forever. No matter how hard you try, you can’t return to the past. She couldn’t go back, and neither could Luo Shan.
“Sis, don’t you want to live with and Xiao Zheng again?” Luo Shan looked at Luo Shu, longing in her eyes.
Luo Shu smiled faintly and glanced at Luo Shan, “Go back, and don’t co looking for again.” From this mont on, there was no longer any affection between them.
Luo Shan stared at Luo Shu, her eyes growing harsh, “Sis, must you be so heartless?” Whose fault was it that she ended up like this? If Luo Shu hadn’t brought her out of the village in the first place, she would still be the naive Luo Shan.
If she hadn’t provoked the Song Family, they would never have taken her in. During her ti with the Song Family, she suffered humiliation and endured agonizing pain that made life feel worse than death. All of this was because of her!
