Chapter 1063: One Thousand and Sixty-One, Visit
“Xiaong!” A familiar voice called out from behind Chen Xiaong.
Chen Xiaong turned around imdiately upon hearing the voice, her face lighting up with a delighted smile. Sure enough, it was Luo Shu. “Luo Shu, it’s really you. Why did you co back?” When Luo Shu had left, she told her she was going to a faraway place. So many years had passed without any news from her; Chen Xiaong had thought Luo Shu would stay there forever and never return.
“I ca back to see you all. I didn’t expect us to et here.” Luo Shu glanced at Tian Fengjun, who was clutching his hand and crying out in pain, “Is this scumbag bullying you?”
“I was blind.” Chen Xiaong turned her head and glared viciously at Tian Fengjun. She did not pity his current plight in the slightest. Besides, even if he hadn’t embezzled money, she still wouldn’t want a man tainted by dishonesty.
“How do you want to deal with him?” Luo Shu asked. She was never lenient toward people who hurt her friends.
“He embezzled money from my company. I want him to go to jail.” Chen Xiaong did not hide her intentions. The mont Tian Fengjun suggested divorce, she had already decided to take legal action against him. Having endured the crucible of the business world over the past two years, she was no longer the naive girl who only cared about food. Though she still loved her snacks, her character had grown considerably tougher.
“Alright!” Luo Shu agreed with a smile.
The mont Tian Fengjun heard Chen Xiaong call out Luo Shu’s na, he knew he was dood. When he siphoned off the money, he had already secured protection and thought he’d have no need to fear Chen Xiaong reporting him. But now, with Luo Shu on Chen Xiaong’s side, it was a different story. Luo Shu, wife of Lu Hanmo, was the young lady of the prestigious Lu family of Jinchen—soone even his powerful ally couldn’t afford to offend.
Realizing this, Tian Fengjun could no longer take into account the blood dripping endlessly from his injured hand or the excruciating pain that left him trembling all over. “Xiaong, I was just joking earlier. I love you so much; how could I ever divorce you?”
He turned to the pale-faced woman standing nearby. “She and I are only friends; you have to believe .”
“Shaless!” Chen Xiaong glared fiercely at Tian Fengjun. Did he really think she was so gullible? After all, she had graduated from Jinchen University. While she might usually avoid using her brain unnecessarily, she was far from stupid.
“Xiaong, I was wrong! Please forgive this once. I promise I’ll never do it again.” Tian Fengjun begged desperately. He had originally thought Luo Shu wouldn’t care much about her friendship with Chen Xiaong; now he knew he couldn’t have been more wrong.
“Wait for my lawsuit.” Chen Xiaong no longer wanted to see his disgraceful face and pulled Luo Shu outside. Despite her decisiveness, her heart still hurt—after all, this was the man she had loved for over three years.
Luo Shu followed Chen Xiaong as they walked outside. She turned back to look at Lu Hanmo and gestured outward with her finger.
Lu Hanmo smiled and nodded. He knew that on Yuan Star, Shushu would be perfectly safe.
At a nearby restaurant, Chen Xiaong reserved a private room and ordered an entire case of beer. She planned to get completely drunk tonight.
Luo Shu didn’t stop her. After all, with her around, it didn’t matter how drunk Xiaong got. Since Xiaong wanted to vent herself properly, Luo Shu would stay by her side.
Chen Xiaong downed bottle after bottle, her gaze gradually becoming blurry, and her speech slurred. “Damn Tian Fengjun… that bastard… not only did he deceive emotionally… he also took all my money… damn him… I’ll make him pay… sob sob sob…”
She cried loudly, then looked at Luo Shu across from her and suddenly burst into laughter. “Luo Shu… tell … I treated him so well… why did he still do this to … I…” Her body swayed, and she collapsed onto the table, completely drunk and unconscious.
Luo Shu shook her head and looked at Chen Xiaong with a pang of sadness. She knew it would take Xiaong a long ti to recover from this ordeal.
After sending Chen Xiaong ho, Luo Shu helped tidy her up a bit and fed her a hangover dicine before leaving. She had just received Lu Hanmo’s ssage, informing her that Tian Fengjun’s issue had already been dealt with. This ti, Tian Fengjun would definitely rot in jail.
Luo Shu released her Divine Sense to check on Chen Xiaong inside the house and saw her sitting on the bed, dazed and sighing quietly. Everyone had their own life to live. The most Luo Shu could do was help her to this extent and hope she would recover from this pain soon.
Over the next few days, Luo Shu t up with Wang Fei, Zhang Qi, Liu ngyao, Xiao Yan, and ng Yujuan. Their lives were all going well, and each had a happy family now.
Mu Wan had moved to Pearl Island City, and Wang Fei ntioned that Mu Wan had married a wealthy businessman there and was living a comfortable life. Just a few days ago, she had called to announce the birth of her second child, a baby boy. The family was overjoyed and planned to throw a grand celebration, inviting all of them to attend.
Luo Shu calculated the dates and realized there was still a week until the celebration. Since she wasn’t leaving anyti soon, she decided she would go to Pearl Island City and reunite with Mu Wan. After this departure, she didn’t know when she would return again.
The blazing sumr heat made even the breeze feel warm. Sweat rolled uncontrollably even when standing still.
On the training field, a group of guards in camouflage uniforms ran in formation under the lead of another guard similarly dressed, all dripping with sweat.
When the running exercise ended, the leader finally stopped and barked orders to the soldiers who also ca to a halt, “Attention! Align to the right! Look forward! At ease!”
He swept a casual glance at the group. “Rest for ten minutes, then training resus!”
“Yes, sir!” the soldiers responded in unison before scattering.
Luo Shu’s gaze fell on Luo Zheng in the distance, and a faint smile lifted her lips. Compared to before, he had grown taller, stronger, and now truly looked the part of a guard. His cultivation had reached Nascent Soul Late Stage, proving he had worked diligently over the years.
Luo Zheng entered a nearby rest area and picked up a tea cup from the table, taking a sip of water. Since he began cultivating, his body had beco lighter and stronger as if fatigue was no longer sothing he could experience. Even in the sweltering sumr, he felt neither heat nor exhaustion.
Hearing footsteps nearby, Luo Zheng turned his head in surprise. When he saw who it was, his eyes widened in astonishnt, followed by imnse joy. “Sis, you’re back!”
Luo Shu smiled and nodded. “Just visiting, leaving in a few days.” She glanced at Luo Zheng’s insignia. “You’ve done well! You’ve already been promoted to Centurion.” To achieve such rank in six short years had surely required countless victories.
