"Brother Chengming, who is she?" Zhou Ziqiao asked with red eyes.

Gu Chengming, worried that she would lash out at An Yan, stepped in front of her. "It has nothing to do with you. How did you get here?"

Zhou Ziqiao glared at him angrily. "If I hadn’t co, how would I have discovered your secret tryst? I heard she’s pregnant. Is it yours?"

Gu Chengming replied coldly, "Yes, it’s mine, so now that you’ve asked, leave."

Zhou Ziqiao stomped her foot in fury. "Uncle Gu said we would get engaged next month. What does this an now?"

Gu Chengming said, "I never thought about getting engaged to you."

"So you’ve fallen for this woman who’s both blind and deaf? In what way am I inferior to her?"

Anger marked Gu Chengming’s face. "You are inferior to her in every way. Leave now, or I’ll have my bodyguards throw you out."

Zhou Ziqiao cast a venomous glance at An Yan and drove away.

An Yan felt a headache coming on. Was female competition always so fierce no matter where she was?

Gu Chengming bent down to look at her. "Don’t worry; she won’t set foot here again."

"The way you spoke just now, your parents might misunderstand. What if they co here..."

"Sorry, I didn’t consider your feelings."

An Yan looked at him. "I also don’t want to cause you trouble."

"Don’t worry, I will explain everything to my parents."

An Yan nodded slightly. "Can you get a mobile phone and a laptop?"

Gu Chengming nodded. "Sure, I’ll have soone take care of it right away. I’m a bit busy these next few days and can’t co to see you. Rest well."

An Yan smiled faintly. "Okay."

Just then, Qingqing walked out of the kitchen, and seeing An Yan, she was particularly excited. "Miss Mu, you can see now? Oh my, I’m so excited, I forgot you can’t hear. I’ll write it down for you."

An Yan shook her head lightly. "It’s okay, I can read lips."

Looking into An Yan’s eyes now so full of life, Qingqing was overwheld with excitent. "Miss Mu, your eyes are so beautiful."

Suddenly, she realized she was being a bit presumptuous in front of Gu Chengming and quickly lowered her head.

Gu Chengming was in a good mood and didn’t reprimand her. He exchanged a few more words with An Yan before leaving.

An Yan said, "Qingqing, please take back to my room."

"Okay." Qingqing pushed her into the elevator and up to the second floor.

An Yan pretended to admire the room’s decor but was actually checking for surveillance and listening devices.

Sure enough, her search wasn’t disappointing—apart from the bathroom and washroom, every possible place was utilized for surveillance.

Either Gu Chengming was extrely suspicious and possessive, or after saving her, he beca aware of her identity and had ulterior motives.

She accepted neither possibility.

In the afternoon, Gu Chengming’s assistant brought the mobile phone and laptop.

An Yan calculated the timing. When Qingqing brought them, she was soaking in the bath.

She had Qingqing bring them into the bathroom and then dismissed her.

An Yan turned on the laptop, which had so battery left.

Upon checking, she found the laptop was being monitored.

Whatever she looked at on it, soone on the other end would know.

The sa was true for the mobile phone. She was very displeased with this surveillance.

She guessed that all the phones of the estate’s servants were being monitored as well, to prevent her from contacting the outside world.

An Yan looked down; she wanted to contact Su Yue and Bi Chong.

She wanted to know how Leng Feng was doing, and she also wanted news of Fu Shiyan.

Now, all she could do was wait for an opportunity.

Mu Family.

Xu Wanqing sat on the sofa, peeling an apple, sighing repeatedly.

"Why won’t An Yan answer my calls? Just not answering at all. Could sothing have happened?" she wondered.

Mu Boyan looked down, "Mom, don’t say such things recklessly. It’s not right to curse soone like that."

"I know I shouldn’t say that. I just really miss the kid. She’s so smart and cute." Xu Wanqing looked at him, "Boyan, accompany this afternoon to buy a gift, will you?"

Mu Boyan was slightly surprised, "For whom?"

"For An Yan, obviously. Did you think I’d get one for Mu Yingying? That child has done wrong and I don’t know where she’s vanished to these past two months, unreachable."

In his mind, Mu Boyan thought, that person is now in detention; due to insufficient evidence, they haven’t been able to sentence her yet.

The Mu Family had sealed off the news both externally and internally, therefore, Mu Hongsheng and Xu Wanqing were unaware of this.

Xu Wanqing sliced off a piece of apple and handed it to Mu Boyan. Just as he was about to reach out and take it, she placed the knife and fruit on the fruit plate.

"Let’s go now, otherwise we’re just idling at ho." After that, she got up and walked upstairs, "I’ll be down in a jiffy."

Mu Boyan stretched his hand to emptiness, then withdrew it with a sigh. An Yan had been missing all this ti; he didn’t want to admit that she might no longer be alive, but deep down, he had already accepted that she might indeed be gone.

After Xu Wanqing was ready, she and Mu Boyan drove to the mall.

During the journey, they encountered a set of traffic lights at an intersection.

Mu Boyan was in the first position on the left-turn lane.

At that mont, a large truck making a right turn charged straight ahead.

Mu Boyan acted quickly with agile reflexes, swiftly swerving to the left, scraping against the barrier and rushing out.

The big truck braked urgently, but it was too late; it crashed directly into the small cars in the other two lanes.

The small car was severely deford; the chances were slim for the people inside.

After parking the car, Mu Boyan rushed to ask Xu Wanqing, "Mom, are you alright?"

Xu Wanqing raised her hand to her head, grimacing in pain. The sudden swerve had caused her head to inevitably knock against the car window.

Her brows were tightly knitted, her expression one of agony.

Mu Boyan didn’t dare to move her, "Mom, I’ll take you to the hospital right now."

Xu Wanqing grabbed his arm and turned to look at him, "Boyan, I rember now, I rember everything."

In the mont of Mu Boyan’s astonishnt,

Xu Wanqing’s lips quivered, "Mu Yingying was the one who pushed off the boat. I overheard her on the phone; she ntioned the An Family. She’s the daughter of the An Family! So, the An Family’s daughter should be my daughter, right?"

Mu Boyan pressed his lips together, remaining silent.

Xu Wanqing’s voice choked with emotion, "An Yan is our Mu Family’s child, isn’t she?"

Mu Boyan didn’t know how to respond.

Once he told her that An Yan was the Mu Family’s Little Five, how would he explain An Yan’s disappearance or, more accurately, her death?

He daren’t speak. He couldn’t bring himself to say it.

"Mom, since you’ve rembered, let’s make sure Mu Yingying, or An Yingying, gets the punishnt she deserves. As for whether An Yan is a mber of our Mu Family or not, further tests are needed for proof. And about the car accident just now, I sense sothing off. Once we deal with this matter, we can discuss An Yan’s situation, alright?"

Xu Wanqing nodded, her eyes brimming with hope.

She had it all planned out; if An Yan was her daughter, she would make up for the twenty years of lost affection.

If she wasn’t her daughter, she was prepared to make An Yan her goddaughter.

It was at this mont that a man in a black coat, wearing a mask and a duckbill cap, carrying a sharp knife, charged towards their car.
