Seraphina’s POV
Max’s lips pressed into a thin line. He looked like he had sothing more to say, but was too stunned to speak.
"And either way... the Lancasters are my family," I continued, not letting him believe anything based on rumors and half-assed assumptions. "I have every right to use their money if I want to. Fake people always feel the need to show off what doesn’t belong to them... but real ones?" I shrugged. "They don’t need to sing an epic for people to know who they are."
Max stared at , he was completely thrown off guard. "Are you... Saying you’re the real heiress of the Lancaster family? And lissa’s the fake?"
I tilted my head and smirked. "You said it yourself. Congratulations on finally enhancing your knowledge."
"But... I heard you forced your way into the family," he said, still denying to believe in my truth and going on with the rumors.
I scoffed. "Seriously, man? Do you think the Lancaster family is so random pushovers who’d let just anyone walk in and force them as they please?"
He opened his mouth, but nothing ca out. He just kept looking at , like he couldn’t believe but sothing was forcing him to.
Honestly, I didn’t care whether he believed or not. Let them all talk for all I care. I’d been through worse than this. It was nothing for .
"Hey... what’s going on there?" the subject teacher interjected, appearing out of the blue.
Before I could even say anything, he smacked the back of my head with a rolled-up paper.
It was not that hard, but it still hurts.
"I already told them," he muttered as he narrowed his eyes and looked between us. "One rotten egg in the batch, and the whole class starts to stink."
A few students chuckled quietly, but I could still hear them.
Was I the only one talking? I didn’t even strike up the conversation, so why was I being hit?
"You’re right," I shot back as I couldn’t take it anymore. "A rotten teacher like you could easily spoil the entire class!"
"You!" His face twisted with fury, finger jabbing in my direction, even his index finger was poking , while Max chuckled beside . He seed to be enjoying the drama. "How dare you talk to your teacher like that?!"
"Why not?" I scoffed. "A teacher can humiliate students without knowing the full story, beat them, call them nas, and yet still expect respect in return? And let ask you... Was I the only one talking here? Can’t you see Max was also involved in this?"
"That’s why I called you a rotten egg!" The teacher almost snapped. "He never even looks at the blackboard! And here he was talking to you... So obviously, you disturbed his sleep."
What the actual hell?
I blinked a few tis as I was speechlessly stunned for a second at how shalessly biased he was. Did he seriously just say that?
I rolled my eyes. "So, you agree he doesn’t pay attention in your class and just sleeps through it... and since he talks, that’s my fault? What kind of twisted logic is that?"
The class went dead silent. Even Max wasn’t laughing anymore.
"And honestly?" I continued, my voice low but sharp this ti. "You being this openly biased is exactly why you suck as a teacher."
I didn’t want to start a fight! I’d been quiet all this ti, no matter what they did to .
But ever since I entered this school, this man had taken every chance he could to attack , either openly or subtly.
And on top of that, he wasn’t the only teacher who did that. A lot of teachers did the sa.
Only my horoom teacher seed a bit normal.
I could feel everyone’s eyes on , and I could hear their whispers. But to hell with them!
They talk either way.
The teacher was fuming. His hand clenched the paper roll so tightly that it was on the verge of tearing. His face had turned red, and veins were pulsing at his temple.
"You insolent brat!" he barked angrily. "Get out! Get out of my class right now!"
I stood up slowly, keeping my gaze locked with his, and instead of begging him to let stay, I walked out of the class.
Max muttered under his breath, "Damn..."
I grabbed my bag calmly, with my head high, I started walking, until the teacher added with his poisonous tone, "Go back to wherever you ca from. This school was fine before your kind polluted it."
He was still at it! I clenched my fist as my fingers dug sharply into my palms.
I turned back with a smile. "You’re right, sir. You should’ve stopped at the gates when I first ca... But what to do... You are just another employee my family feeds!"
I walked out with those words.
I didn’t look back.
My heart was loud in my chest, but my face stayed blank. Cold. Like nothing mattered. Like I hadn’t just told off a teacher in front of the whole class.
But deep down, I knew—this ti, I was in real trouble.
And I also knew how this school worked.
They would call the parents.
That was the rule.
I didn’t think, but since I did nothing wrong. I had just defended myself.
But I knew I was in a big ss. After all this, they would call my parents, and that’s what troubled the most!
Because if they couldn’t reach Brother Asher, since he might still be at his base then who would they call?
I didn’t want to trouble him. He had already done too much for as of now.
But what if they called my Mother, and Mrs. Lancaster showed up?
The thought alone made my head spin.
She would eat alive.
If she ca here, I wouldn’t stand a chance to defend myself!
