Seraphina’s POV

Sean? Was she talking about the guy I used to follow around when I first ca to the Lancaster family?

Well, wasn’t it my right? They were the ones who called him my fiancé. But of course, he hated it. He hated seeing embarrassed in front of others and still never lifted a finger to stop it.

I glanced over to where his family sat, right beside us. His parents looked like they’d swallowed lemon juice. They were all stiff and proper. And Sean...

He was staring straight at .

There was sothing in his eyes I couldn’t figure out. I’d never seen him look at like that before.

What the hell was wrong with that guy?

I only t his gaze for a second before looking away, my skin crawling like I’d just been touched without warning.

I shook it off and paid my attention to the people who were ready to thrash at any mont.

Oh. So now she wanted to bring him into this, my dear, so-called first love, the one I’d been foolish enough to think that I loved him but it was all my way to survive in this toxic family.

"I’m speaking the truth," I said, my voice steady but a little louder than before. "I never had enough money to waste, as I barely had enough to use on myself. I could barely survive in the Lancaster house."

If she wanted to spit fire, she’d better be ready to get bitten back.

The room was dead silent as faint whispers started to begin again. Every pair of eyes seed fixed on us, but it seed I didn’t care about those gazes anymore.

"What are you talking about?" Liam, my father interjected, his hand hitting the table with a dull thud. "I’ve always told the head butler to give you a good amount of money every month." He glanced toward lissa and Stephanie.

"Yes, I know it wasn’t as much as lissa’s, but I still sent that money every single month!"

"Oh, really?" I let out a short and cold laugh. "And how exactly did you give lissa her pocket money, dear Father?" My voice turned sharp. "Why don’t you also tell us the amount you gave her... and the amount you gave ?"

I leaned back, my eyes locking on lissa. "Since I never got a single coin, I’d really like to know just how generous you were with both of us."

lissa didn’t even flinch. She just kept sipping her soup like she was watching a drama unfold, her lips twitched slightly as if she was enjoying the scene unfold. That tiny smirk made my fingers itch to wipe it off her face.

Mrs. Lancaster shifted in her seat, eyes flicking between us, but she didn’t say a word. Liam’s brows pulled tight, but he still didn’t answer.

"Yes," I said loud enough for everyone at the table to hear, breaking the silence. "What did you just say? I didn’t hear anything. Did anyone else hear it? Or is it just going deaf all of a sudden?"

My father’s jaw tightened, his fingers curling against the table. He knew I’d backed him into a corner, and I wasn’t about to let him wriggle his way out.

They were the ones who brought this up, dragged it in front of everyone as if they ca prepared to do this with . But what they didn’t know was I’d be the one to finish it.

I leaned forward, my voice low but cutting. "Go on, Father. Tell them. Or should I?"

Liam drew in a long breath, his eyes flicking to Grandma before he finally spoke.

"I... gave Seraphina around five thousand a month as pocket money. Through the head butler, in cash." He added quickly. "I even reminded her to hand it to her on ti." He spoke as if he really cared for .

I let out a small laugh, but the coldness was seeping out of my eyes. "What about lissa?" My voice was icy enough to frost the people around .

It’s not that I cared about the money. I had never been the materialistic type of a girl but just the thought would’ve been enough for . If he had just walked up to , handed five hundred bucks and said, this is for you, I would’ve been happy. I would’ve kept it safe forever.

But no. They couldn’t even do that.

"For lissa..." His voice faltered for a second, his eyes darting to , then to the people around us who were now watching and waiting for his reply.

"I give her... over ten million a month."

I froze.

"What?" The word slipped out before I could stop it. My eyes went wide, almost popping out of my sockets.

Ten fucking million and every month at that!!?

Was he insane? How could anyone be that blatantly biased and not even flinch about it?

I’d already said I didn’t care about money and I ant it. But that didn’t change the fact that what he was giving her, all those years, should’ve been mine and mine only!

And now that I think about it... it all made sense.

This was why, in the past, lissa had been swimming in cash while the rest of us drowned in poverty. Even when our family went bankrupt, she was still living like a queen. She’d been a millionaire all along

She wasn’t blood relative or the real heiress of the Lancasters... That’s why, when everything fell apart, none of her precious properties got seized. We lost everything and she still had a lot of things.

"What did you just say!" Grandma slamd the table and rose to her feet.

"Grandma, let tell you... I didn’t even get that much!" Brother Alistair instantly chid in and Asher followed him.

"And... I too gave lissa a lot of money... Just how much did she has?" Asher asked coldly as everyone’s eyes fell on lissa!
