Seraphina’s POV

It had already been a week since I started staying at Emma’s cousin’s place. The days felt long here, but they were quiet and safe.

Fae, Emma’s cousin would drop by from ti to ti to check on and help treat my wounds. She was a doctor, after all, and unlike most, she didn’t ask too many questions.

"Thankfully, your burns weren’t too deep," she said today as she gently peeled the bandage off my arm. "Otherwise, they might’ve left a scar."

She smiled lightly, but I could still feel the sting on my skin. I nodded and gave her a soft, honest thank you. "If it weren’t for you, I don’t know what I would’ve done."

Fae gave a strange look... Like she didn’t understand why I was thanking her so seriously. I knew it wasn’t a big deal to her or she thought that anyone could’ve helped . But what she didn’t know... was that I knew her from before.

In my last life, it was Emma who introduced to Fae. She had beco my doctor whom I ca to trust. Fae had patched up more tis than I could count... She’d seen the worst of and still chose to help.

She even pitied and every ti she helped she look heart broken.

But after Emma was killed... everything fell apart.

Fae had turned cold overnight. She stopped taking my calls and even avoided eting . One day, she told straight to my face that she never wanted to see again.

I knew what she was going through and I’d believed her.

It was only much later that I found out the truth that it was lissa who had threatened her, telling her to stay away from or she’d end up just like Emma.

And Fae... It was obvious that she’d believe lissa after what she did to Emma or she was just scared.

But now, here she was again treating my wounds again!

And I didn’t know if I should feel grateful... or afraid and stay away from them!

Fae’s hands moved gently as she wrapped a fresh bandage around my arm. She didn’t rush, and didn’t talk much. Just worked with focus and trying to be careful with every touch.

"Does it still hurt?" she asked softly.

I paused. "Not the burn but the..."

She gave a small nod, like she understood what I really ant. This was what special about Fae she didn’t need everything explained.

I watched her work. She’d always been like this... calm and collected, always kind.

Whatever happened in my past life... for abandoning I never blad Fae. I thought and shook my head.

"Fae," I said suddenly. "Did... anyone co looking for ?"

She finished tying the bandage and looked at . Her face was calm, but serious.

"No one ca," she said. "Emma told not to tell anyone."

I nodded slowly. It made sense. Emma was just trying to protect .

Still, my chest felt heavy, sothing made it hard for to breathe.

How could no one try to find ? Was I that easy to forget?

Did I really an nothing to them?

A lot of negative thoughts ca rushing to my mind but soon I tried to shook it off.

No... No, this couldn’t be. I didn’t want to believe it. Of course, if nobody would co... Then brother Alistair would... And him... Lucien...

Just as I sank deeper into the the bitter thoughts, Fae’s voice cut through the tension, pulling out of the darkness I almost sunk in.

"However..." she said, her tone changing slightly, like she’d been waiting for the right ti to speak, "soone’s brothers kept coming every single day... asking about their sister, requesting take care of her and even kept asking to let them see her... just once. Even though... I never stopped them."

I froze.

My heart began pounding like a drum in my ears.

"You..." I looked up at her, my voice barely above a whisper. "Are you saying that... Brother Asher and Alistair ca looking for ?"

Fae rolled her eyes as she packed up the dical kit, her voice laced with dry sarcasm. "Or what, you think I’d make that up just to comfort you?"

"I an... you barely talk," I muttered under my breath, unable to stop the tears burning at the corners of my eyes. I didn’t want to cry but I was feeling so happy at the mont.

Fae let out a short, amused laugh and rose to her feet. "You haven’t changed at all," she said, brushing her hands on her coat. "You are still so dramatic in your head."

She turned to leave, then paused by the door. Her voice softened. "I hope your right hand heals soon. Try not to push it too hard, before your exam try to rest."

And with that, she opened the door.

But instead of the scenery of the hallway, there was Lia, standing stiffly in the doorway. Her eyes t mine and widened slightly. She looked unsure, almost scared to co in. Her gaze dropped to the bandages on my arms, then shifted behind her.

That’s when I felt a shift in air. A presence that made the air colder and heavier all at once.

It was Lucien.

He stepped in behind Lia, tall and quiet, his eyes already locked on .

The mont he entered the room, Lucien’s presence filled the entire space. He didn’t need to speak or move just standing there was enough to drive crazy.

He looked sharp and serious, dressed in black, however his blazer didn’t quiet match his pants, anyway... His presence was hard to ignore.

His jaw was cut clean, his hair a little ssy like he’d been running his fingers through it, and his jet black eyes were cold and steady.

My breath caught in my throat and I couldn’t breathe at all.

My voice trembled as I whispered, "Lucien..."

"Yes... it’s ," he said, his voice low and husky, almost like a whisper that still managed to fill the room.

I stared at him, frozen. I couldn’t believe he was really here, standing right in front of . My heart was racing, thudding hard in my chest as if it was trying to reach him before I could.

"Young Miss, please forgive !" Lia burst out, panicking. "I... I tried to stop Master De Rossi, but he wouldn’t listen! He just walked in!"

Fae, who had been silent all this ti, finally blinked and turned to , still clearly stunned. Her eyes flicked from to Lucien and back again. "Do you... know him?"

I gave a slow nod, my throat felt too tight to speak at first. "Hm... yes," I said softly, trying my best to stay calm even if his presence alone was enough to drive crazy.

Lucien hadn’t moved much. He was still standing there in silence. But his eyes... they were slowly scanning every part of , making squirm under his hot gaze that made my skin burn with a strange kind of sha, like I’d been stripped bare without a word.

"Who did it to you?" he asked, his voice was sharp, cold and dangerous. His eyes held the kind of rage that didn’t need say out loud to understand. Even I felt a chill crawl up my spine.

"You... you must already know," I replied softly, barely eting his eyes. "Then why ask?"

Lucien took in a long breath and let it out just as slowly, his jaw tight. Then, with that calm voice which sounded far more terrifying than anger, he said, "Leave."

"Wh... What?" Fae blinked in confusion, looking at like she wasn’t sure if she’d heard him right.

"You both can leave," I said, giving her and Lia a small nod quietly telling them I’d be fine... even if I wasn’t sure myself.

Fae hesitated. Her eyes stayed on for a second longer, clearly she was unsure if she should leave. But then she nodded reluctantly, and turned toward the door. Lia followed, pausing only to whisper, "I’ll be right outside, Young Miss," before gently closing the door behind her.

The silence filled the entire room again.

Lucien didn’t speak. He walked slowly toward , each step deliberate, echoing faintly in the quiet room.

He stopped a few steps away from the bed and looked down at , eyes locked on mine. There was sothing raw in his stare which I couldn’t comprehend.

I seed far more danger than just anger.

"Why didn’t you call ?" he asked.

His voice was lower and quieter but filled with heavy weigh. He had asked just a question but sohow I felt as if he was complaining and accusing !

I swallowed hard. My fingers curled into the blanket before I knew. "I didn’t you or call anyone! That was my fight and I must fight it alone!"

Lucien’s expression didn’t change at first, but I saw the flicker in his eyes as if he didn’t like what he had just heard.

He didn’t answer right away. Instead, he sat down in the chair beside my bed, slowly and carefully, like he was afraid of disturbing my peace.

"You couldn’t even bother to lean on ," he said finally, his voice almost a whisper. "But I still would’ve co."

That silence ca back again, wrapping around the room.

I didn’t know what to say to that. His words had left rendered speechless!
