Seraphina’s POV

"How dare you still run your mouth when you are already like this!" Mrs. Lancaster glared at , baring her teeth. "It seems you still have a lot of strength left in your body."

"Of course I have!" I said foolishly, and didn’t back down. "I didn’t want things to end between us like this again, but... You have left no choice for ."

"What are you planning?" lissa said in a low tone, still putting on the facade of being worried about . "Mom’s just angry right now... Just stay in that room until her mood settles, please."

I let out a cold laugh, but that didn’t reach my eyes. "Is that so? Do you think I’m stupid enough to stay quiet? You really think I won’t tell everyone what you two did to ?"

"You dare?" Mrs. Lancaster spat at , her eyes wild. "Go ahead and try. Let’s see who believes a word that cos out of your filthy mouth!"

"I don’t need the whole damn world to believe ..." I started, my voice was low as I tried hard to bear the pain in my body. "As long as my brothers—"

Before I could finish, another slap landed on the sa cheek, at the sa place, almost knocking my head against the wall near . My skin stung, but my heart had long gone numb.

"You are still trying to threaten ?" she barked, grabbing by the arm and shoving into the room like trash she couldn’t stand to look at.

"Stay here for a few days! I’ll let you out when my sons are about to return," she said in a commanding tone as she turned to lock the door.

But I stopped the door with my palm, my fingers trembling against the fra.

"A few days?" I scoffed, watching her flinch for once. "What the hell does that an?"

"Exactly what I said," she smirked with a victorious voice. "I sent them out of the country. They’re not coming back any ti soon... So, stay there till then. After all... This is where you belong!"

I stared at her. "Are you even my mother?" The words tasted bitter coming out of my mouth. "Even my worst enemy wouldn’t treat like this."

She didn’t flinch at my words as she was already walking away.

I had faced her even in my past life, where she did things to . But before, Mrs. Lancaster used to punish ... but there was still a bottom line where she stopped.

But what had changed this ti? Why was she acting this way all of a sudden?

Sending the only people who cared about away... Just so she could do whatever she wanted with ?

This wasn’t her plan! She wasn’t this heartless. Then...

It was lissa. It must be her.

My eyes landed on her, who was enjoying every second of my misery, like she did in the past..

Mrs. Lancaster left. But lissa stayed as her gaze was fixed on , like she was admiring her handiwork.

"Sister," she said sweetly, stretching a gentle smile toward . "Please don’t be mad at my mother. I’ll co back soon... and maybe let you out."

I didn’t want to play gas with her.

If it were in the past, I would have bowed my head down to her and thanked her until my heart was full of gratitude for her.

"Get lost!" I yelled, wiping that smug smile off her face.

I didn’t need her pity!

You took the first step, lissa... Now, don’t bla if I ruined everything for you!

I’d snatch every single thing you hold dear!

Sean! He’d be mind.

Lancaster? They’d be mind too... Even if Mrs. Lancaster objected.

The title of the young miss that you are so proud of... I’d snatch it and rip off of you.

Just you wait!

I have had enough of you trying to break !

"I know you must be angry," lissa still acted. "But mom is just angry... I... I didn’t an it but when... I went to talk to Brother Alis on the rooftop... She ca to and I guess, she heard our conversation and... she beca furious."

I looked at her blankly for a mont, then let out a short, bitter laugh. "So now it’s an accident?" You really do act the best in this world, I thought.

lissa blinked. "I didn’t an—"

"There is no need to pretend in front of ." My voice dropped. "You knew what you were doing when you ran your mouth in front of her. And I’m sure... You are aware that she was right there when you vomited those words deliberately!"

She flinched, but I didn’t stop.

"You wanted ruin ntally if not physically when you let her to co after . And you’re standing here acting like it wasn’t your fault.

I stepped closer.

"I’m not a fool, lissa. You lit the fire... now don’t cry when it turns on you."

My voice was slow, cold and firm.

"What are you saying! How can I let..." She didn’t even finish when I shoved her out and slamd the door shut in her face.

I stared at the cold, empty walls.

This wasn’t the first ti I’d been locked in here. And if they thought they could break like before... let them try. If I go down, I’m dragging them with .

"Ouch..." I hissed, feeling the sting as warm, salty tears mixed with the blood on my cheeks.

My whole body ached.

My head was already spinning, and now these new wounds had make my conditions even worse.

But I still moved.

I dragged my limping body across the floor as I made my way to the broken cupboard.

"What now?" I muttered under my breath. "What should I do?"

Should I just stay here and wait for them to co and rescue? Or... No... I have a better idea than this.
