Chapter 3

Xu Bai graduated in September a year ago. Right after that, he joined the Feng City Police Departnt.

When he was still a trainee, Xu Bai followed his ntor, who was now the team leader. The first case he handled was Liu San.

Su ng had just joined the police force this year. She had followed Xu Bai and the first case she handled was Liu San.

However, Liu San was different from the other criminals. Liu San was the kind of criminal that only committed small cris, not big ones.

In the past year alone, Liu San, who had broken into?a lot of hos and swindled people, had been dealt with countless tis.

Yesterday, he broke into a house but to his misfortune, the owner of the house got back early and ended up getting beaten half to death when he was discovered. He was subsequently rushed to the hospital for treatnt.

It hadn’t even been twenty-four hours since then.

“Sothing’s not right, Master!”

Su ng stopped the car by the side of the road and seed to have thought of sothing. She looked at Xu Bai and said, “I rember Liu San was almost unconscious from his beating when he was sent to the hospital yesterday. He was very seriously injured.”

Xu Bai nodded.

“Right.”

“Master, Liu San was seriously injured yesterday. It hasn’t even been 24 hours, and he’s already discharged?”

“…Even if he lives here, it might not be him inside.”

“What do you an, Master?”

“Maybe it isn’t him. Maybe it’s his friend or sothing.”

“…That’s true.”

Su ng’s eyes lit up. “It must be his friends.”

Xu Bai smiled.

Although Liu San was common scum, it didn’t an that scum didn’t have friends.

People flock together, and things flock together.

After a while.

Xu Bai and Su ng got out of the car and looked up at the old apartnt building that was built more than 30 years ago.

There were many old apartnt buildings like this, but most of them were concentrated in the Dongcheng District.

Xu Bai glanced at the corridor on the eighth floor and turned to look at Su ng, who was getting out of the car. “Let’s go…What are you doing?”

Su ng took out a few cards from her pocket and laid them out on the hood. Her originally cute expression was now serious.

Xu Bai frowned and walked over. He looked at Su ng, who had a serious expression on her face and was muttering to herself as she spread the cards around on the hood. “What are you doing?” he repeated.

Yesterday, when he brought Su ng out for a mission, Xu Bai saw her do the sa thing when they got out of the car, but he didn’t ask.

Su ng looked pious.

“Divination.”

“Zhan…”

Xu Bai opened his mouth. He wanted to say sothing but was at a loss for words.

At this mont.

Su ng took out a card, opened her eyes, and looked at Xu Bai. “Master, it’s the Surprise Goddess.”

“So…” Xu Bai was confused.

Su ng put away the card and said with certainty, “There must be a surprise waiting for us this ti”.

Xu Bai’s mouth twitched.

What he wanted most right now was the removal of the bug in his system that prevented him from upgrading. Besides that, Xu Bai did not want any other surprises.

Xu Bai thought to himself and shook his head speechlessly.

“Let’s go.”

“Oh.”

Su ng looked at Xu Bai’s face and stuck out her tongue. She put the Surprise Goddess card back into her pocket and followed Xu Bai to the apartnt building in front of her.

This kind of old apartnt building did not have an elevator, and the stairs were narrow. There was even an inexplicable unpleasant sll in the corridor. However, when the two of them walked to the stairs on the eighth floor, there was another sll that mixed with the unpleasant sll.

Su ng couldn’t help but frown. “Master, what’s this sll? It’s a little weird.”

Xu Bai asked the sa question. However, unlike Su ng who had just joined the company, Xu Bai was no stranger to this sll.

“The sll of blood.”

“What?”

Su ng cried out in surprise. She subconsciously put her right hand on her waist and pulled out the police-issued pistol with 12 bullets.

Xu Bai also subconsciously prepared to take out his gun.

But…

Xu Bai felt nothing in his hand.

Su ng looked at the empty holster on Xu Bai’s waist and was stunned.

“Master, where’s your gun?”

“…It was confiscated by the team leader.”

“What?”

Xu Bai shook his head. Two months ago, before Su ng arrived, he had caught a human trafficker on a mission alone. The trafficker had surrendered to him but Xu Bai still shot him twice.

Since there was no second police officer to testify, the team leader temporarily confiscated his gun. At the sa ti, Su ng had just arrived, so Xu Bai lost his gun and brought back a new one.

Su ng thought for a mont and handed the gun to Xu Bai.

“Master, this is for you. You are stronger than .”

“…No need.”

Xu Bai glanced at the pistol and looked up at Su ng. “Never give your gun to anyone, including .”

Su ng blinked her eyes and said, “Oh”.

Although Xu Bai did not take Su ng’s gun, he did not try to show off. Instead, he swapped positions with Su ng and let her walk in front of him.

After all, at this ti, whoever had a gun was the most well-equipped.

As the two of them got closer, the sll of blood in the air beca stronger. The sll of blood was coming from their target, Room 804.

Leaning against the right side of the door, Su ng looked at Xu Bai on the left with a nervous expression.

Xu Bai, leaning on the left, extended three fingers and gestured silently.

Su ng bit her lips and nodded seriously.

Seeing this, Xu Bai counted down. After three seconds, he moved to face the door and kicked the door hard.

Even though he had been with the system for twenty-two years, he had yet to break through to level nine.

But…

Xu Bai also noticed that along with every level of improvent, his physical fitness grew rapidly. In high school, he was a top athlete, and because of his excellent physical fitness, he would be selected by the Federation Jingzhou Law Enforcent University, being excluded from the rule that would require him to graduate from high school before entering the university.

When Xu Bai left high school and advanced to level nine, he entered Jingzhou Law Enforcent University. His physical fitness was already at the top among his peers and even the 30,000-plus schoolmates in the university.

The explosive force of Xu Bai’s kick was no less than that of the hamr.

Boom!

Xu Bai’s kick was no weaker than a hamr, and the door ca down easily. With a loud noise, the entire door flew inside and smashed into the wall behind it.

Su ng took a deep breath and stood beside Xu Bai. She held the gun nervously with both hands and looked into the room as vigilantly as she could.

After all, this was the first ti she was at a real cri scene. It was understandable that she was nervous.

Xu Bai could also feel her tension. He whispered, “Don’t be nervous.”

Then, he turned his gaze into the room and he saw it.

On the floor of the living room, there was a pool of blood, and in the pool of blood, there was a body.

The body was lying on its back in the pool of blood. The clothes on its upper body were torn apart, and so organs were casually thrown on the body or in the pool of blood.

Good heavens.

What a pleasant surprise.

This was a murder

case, Xu Bai thought to himself as he saw the baseball bat in the body’s hand. Slowly, he walked into the room.

Su ng stood next to Xu Bai.

“Dead.”

Xu Bai squatted down next to the corpse to confirm the state of the bloody corpse, then looked at the two rooms connected to the corridor with closed doors, and pointed: “Over there.”

Su ng pursed her lips and nodded, her face pale.

It was obvious.

The corpse had given Su ng quite a shock, but the danger was still present. Su ng could only look away quickly to prevent herself from vomiting.

Su ng took a deep breath and tightened her grip on the gun. She carefully walked towards the two closed rooms.

Xu Bai followed.

“Bang!”

“Be careful!”

“Ah!”

Just as Su ng walked to the first room, a loud bang ca from the door. Then the door flung off the hinges entirely and hit the opposite wall with a bang.

Xu Bai imdiately pulled Su ng out of the way of the door. Otherwise, Su ng would have been slamd into the wall by the door.

At this mont.

A black shadow suddenly darted out of the room.

Su ng couldn’t help but widen her eyes. She took aim and pulled the trigger.

But…

Just as Su ng was about to pull the trigger, the shadow, as agile as a monkey, dashed in front of her and slapped Su ng’s hands from below.

Bang!

The bullet went straight into the ceiling above.

“Move aside!”

“Bang!”

Xu Bai quickly pulled Su ng behind him. When the black shadow attacked him, he quickly bent his right arm to block his chest.

The black shadow swung at Xu Bai’s right arm with a loud bang.

“Dong dong dong!”

“Eh, Martial Apprentice?”

Xu Bai’s right arm hurt, and he couldn’t help but take three steps back. He steadied himself and looked at the black figure who spoke. He was stunned. “Liu San?”

Was this strength really Liu San’s?

Xu Bai was stunned.
