Simone heard Cole’s scream, resulting in a feeling of fear gripping his heart while looked towards Cole’s direction, and seeing his rapidly approaching figure, he was imdiately startled.
He felt true fear from the attack approaching him so fast.
In a split second Simone had already thought of a way to escape.
"He doesn’t seem capable of changing directions; let move away," He thought.
Then he looked to both his sides.
On his left, Lucius was waiting with a spear aid directly for his chest.
On his right, Linda was ready with her sword that was currently producing imnse heat.
Seeing his two paths blocked, he panicked a little before thinking again.
"Then up is the only way then," He thought after regaining his composure.
He didn’t bother looking up and instead bent his knee, ready to jump.
ROAARRR!
He suddenly heard from above him.
The Life beast that had previously slipped into the shadows finally found a chance to act again.
With a swipe of its paw, it hit Simone heavily on the head, sending him plumting back down.
At that instance, Cole arrived.
"Get lost," He shouted out while sending a punch straight at the observed weak point.
"Noooo, this power bestowed upon can’t lose to you re kids."
"Innate spirits are bound to die out," He said while attempting to counter.
But the force behind Cole’s attack was too high; it was so high Cole could feel so internal damage to his organs.
The attack hit squarely on the exact spot on the chest, penetrating his defense and destroying the source of dark energy and even his heart.
Without Cole’s notice, more dark energy already escaped Simone’s body and bore into him, proceeding to join those he had suppressed quietly.
The destruction of the core didn’t go down easily, though; as a source of energy, its destruction would result in devastating damage.
And that was exactly what happened.
The mont the Core was destroyed, dark energy fluxed out wildly, resulting in Simone’s body ballooning just like it did with his partner.
Cole knew what was coming, but he was just too weak to move.
He fell flat on the ground, his body completely refusing to move.
He lay there staring straight at Simone’s expanding body while thinking.
"Victory at last."
Just before it was too late.
He suddenly felt sothing grab him by his clothes while running.
"Rest well, Cole; we did it." He heard sothing from sowhere beside him.
BOOM!
An extrely loud explosion suddenly resounded from behind them.
They didn’t bother looking back; they just ran as fast as they could to escape the explosion.
Thankfully, they moved quickly enough; they were able to escape the blast radius without any extra energy.
About 5 minutes later, they arrived outside the barrier that had already begun to collapse.
It appeared it was created by simone in one way.
Minutes earlier.
"What’s that large noise coming from in there?" The second-year styear asked worriedly.
But he didn’t attempt to go in. He just stood outside.
"Trash," he suddenly heard from behind him.
With extre vigilance, he turned around to find out who it was.
Upon seeing who it was, his chest tightened.
Standing behind him were so teachers of the academy and an old man.
He stared at them blankly for a while before regaining his senses.
The old man completely ignored his presence and proceeded to check the barrier.
"This looks like a type of barrier Quinox typically uses," The old man said.
"The one that filters out the strong,"
"They really ca prepared."
The teachers were also hopeless since they couldn’t force their way into the barrier.
Attempting to do that will imdiately result in collapse and the death of everyone within it.
"We can only wait now," He said with a calm look.
"I hope the casualties aren’t too high then," another teacher responded with a lancholic gaze.
Present ti.
While they were running, everyone felt a bit of excitent and happiness having survived that sort of ordeal.
But Cole was in another place at that mont.
"I couldn’t fully understand the ability before I used it; good thing I was actually able to activate it."
"But I will be bearing the consequences of that right."
He could feel it; he could feel the damage.
A page of the Codex had already burnt away, leaving nothing at all behind.
He had lost flaming fist, his first and most used ability, leaving him with just Kinetic Acceleration and a free page.
His previous three-page Codex is now reduced to two pages.
The destruction of that page was the exact reason Cole was in such a wasted condition.
"The sacrifices of victory, uhh,"
Though his injuries from the battle were severe, he shouldn’t be completely incapacitated like he currently is.
On another hand, Cole was actually quite happy, not due to their victory, though ithough itto other reasons.
"I think I know what direction I need to progress in to advance," He thought.
This battle had been the source of great exposition for Cole at the mont and for eand foryone else.
Not long after, they could finally see the exit out of the almost completely gone barrier.
The world outside was much different from where they were coming from.
It was fresher and alive, giving the students a deep sense of peace.
They even caught a faint sight of people in front of them but couldn’t really make out who they were.
Cole had also regained a little bit of himself back; he could move his head around and open his eyes despite not being able to move his body.
"Hey, I think they are teachers," Cole suddenly heard Moses say.
"Teachers? But the test isn’t supposed to end till so days later," Cole thought.
When they got closer, Cole could finally see more clearly.
He noticed the familiar old man staring at him with a smile; behind him were people Cole couldn’t actually recognize.
But one of those people caught Cole’s attention in particular.
"Why does his aura feel so familiar?" he questioned.
Then he rembered.
"It is the sa one I felt on the first day I resud at the academy. The threat."
"Why is he here?"
