Ti passed and a week went by.

This ti the high-level negotiations were unusually swift, concluding in just one week.

The outco was pretty much as Xiao Zhan and the others had analyzed—joint developnt.

However, the thod of joint developnt was slightly different. It involved drawing a dividing line, with each party developing their own territory rather than jointly developing everything and then sharing it equally.

Xiao Zhan understood this approach to so extent but also had his reservations.

He understood that joint developnt could be difficult to manage and that the areas closer to the entrance tended to be more dangerous, so this thod seed reasonable.

What he didn’t understand was, with separate developnt, resource distribution would inevitably beco uneven. Wouldn’t that lead to disputes again?

But since this decision had already been made above, Ye Wudi and his team had no choice but to implent it.

Thus, after the Secret Realm was bisected and the boundaries were drawn, both parties started to set up camp, construct fortifications, and prepare to exploit the realm’s resources.

"The Secret Realm surely needs supervision, not only for oversight but also to prevent any incidents from the Northern Bear Federation. Let’s discuss, who should stay behind?" Ye Wudi asked everyone in the command room.

As the overall Commander, he certainly couldn’t stay, as the daily military affairs of Northern City were enough to keep him busy.

"I’ll stay behind. Facing the Northern Bear Federation requires sufficient military strength, and my Third Legion has already been stationed here," the Third Legion Commander suggested.

However, Ye Wudi shook his head, "That’s unnecessary. We can guard against the Northern Bear Federation, but there’s no need for heavy defense. We’ve reached an agreent, and they won’t easily violate it. Taking action now would be no different from invading their territory."

"Moreover, the Demon Beast surge is approaching, and your Third Legion has more important tasks to handle."

He was right; boundaries had been clearly set, and they must not be crossed arbitrarily.

Crossing them would be seen as an act of sovereignty infringent!

Such actions could easily provoke a war between the two great Federations, and nobody would dare to take such risks lightly.

"Then maybe I should stay," Xiao Zhan stepped forward to offer himself.

The military force in Northern City was actually sufficient, especially after the return of Ghost Abacus and others, who had undertaken significant recruitnt.

The main shortage was high-powered commanders.

In this situation, having a strong and sowhat intelligent commander here was far more effective than leaving a large number of soldiers.

Xiao Zhan was indeed a suitable candidate.

But Ye Wudi was sowhat concerned, not about Xiao Zhan’s strength, but about his temperant.

Given his defiant nature, what if he could not restrain himself and clashed with soone from the Northern Bear Federation? What if he couldn’t hold back and attacked?

Wouldn’t that exacerbate the conflict?

But looking at his subordinates, no one was more suitable than Xiao Zhan. After Huang Yuan’s betrayal, there had been a shortfall in high-end military strength—no Sixth Grade Spirit Masters, only Fifth Grade for appearances.

Guarding the Secret Realm with Fifth Grade was fine, but the First Legion Commander stationed on the other side was a Sixth Grade Spirit Master.

Could he really counter that with just Fifth Grade?

This was a matter of preserving face.

It would make them look weak to others.

Reluctantly, Ye Wudi had to agree to let Xiao Zhan remain.

"For now, you stay here temporarily. Once the Demon Beast surge calms down, I’ll arrange for soone to relieve you."

Xiao Zhan nodded, "Sure, I don’t have much else to do anyway. The scenery here is quite nice, good for recuperation."

Though he said this, he didn’t quite an it.

He volunteered to stay because it was to his advantage.

Otherwise, why would he want to remain? Even if Ye Wudi was short on people, pulling a random replacent wouldn’t be a problem.

"Alright, I’ll leave everything here in your hands then. Safety cos first," Ye Wudi instructed.

"Isn’t the Federation’s interest supposed to co first?" Xiao Zhan chuckled, teasing him.

Ye Wudi gave him a look, "What era do you think we are in? We need to adapt. Today this place is his, but will it still be tomorrow? If he dares to take one inch of my land, I dare to sweep a foot of his!"

Now Xiao Zhan understood.

Following that, Ye Wudi briefed him on other related matters and then returned to Northern City.

Although Xiao Zhan was stationed here, in reality, he didn’t need to manage much, just to keep an eye on the Northern Bear Federation’s movents.

The rest would be handled by the professional deputy commander left by Ye Wudi.

Xiao Zhan was more or less like a retired emperor now.

The next day, Xiao Zhan called Liu Xin to his room.

"I’ve asked Li Teng to protect you and assigned a few others to assist you. Harvest all the life-extending resources in the Secret Realm."

This arrangent displeased Liu Xin, "I’m surely your lifesaver, yet why do I feel like I’ve beco your subordinate?"

Xiao Zhan was taken aback, reflecting, and it did seem sowhat true.

So, he approached Liu Xin, testing, "Or should I hold a knife to your neck? That might prevent you from feeling like a subordinate being ordered around?"

Liu Xin rolled his eyes, "You might as well treat as your subordinate."

With that, she huffed out of the room.

Xiao Zhan imdiately signaled Li Teng with his eyes to follow and protect her diligently, ensuring no mishaps.

Once everyone had left.

Xiao Zhan leisurely resud his role as the retired emperor.

However, just then, his communicator rang—it was Qin Wanfeng calling.

Xiao Zhan thought it was Ye Wudi.

"What’s happened?" Xiao Zhan asked straightaway.

Typically, Qin Wanfeng wouldn’t contact him unless sothing was up.

But this ti, Xiao Zhan guessed wrong.

"What, can’t I contact you if there’s no issue?" Qin Wanfeng said.

"Really no issue? I’m actually quite unaccustod to that."

"If you’re not used to it, I can arrange so tasks for you."

"No, no, no, just kidding," Xiao Zhan hurriedly replied.

Why not enjoy these comfortable days instead of looking for trouble—only soone with a screw loose would do that.

"Have you heard about a Secret Realm appearing outside of Northern City?" Qin Wanfeng asked.

"Yes."

"Then make sure to stay safe, the world is undergoing significant changes lately. A Secret Realm has also appeared in our Southwest Border."

"Is it starting another battle for Secret Realms?" Xiao Zhan asked, frowning.

"No need for you to get involved this ti, they’ve already started fighting."

"Started fighting?"
