Ye Shaoyang was surprised, “What is it?”
“I am at a cri scene . There’s a dead victim, and sothing doesn’t seem right . ”
Ye Shaoyang replied, “Of course, sothing doesn’t seem right . That’s why the police exist . It’s your job to find out the truth . ”
Xie Yuqing was pissed, “Do I have to spell it out for you? We believe it might be a paranormal event . Co back now!”
It seed that Ye Shaoyang had no choice but to end his vacation early . He quickly boarded a cab and headed to Stone City to et Xie Yuqing . He arrived at a residential area for factory workers . The place looked rather old, even older than the place he lived in . Old n and won filled the streets; it was rare to even spot a younger person .
“What took you so long?” Xie Yuqing complained with a grumpy face as soon as she saw him .
“I don’t have a car, it took so ti to find a cab . ” Ye Shaoyang was a little pissed . How dare she complain when she was asking for my help?
“Forget it . Let’s go!” Xie Yuqing led him through an alley and introduced him to her colleagues . She briefed him on the case while they walked: The dead victim was a lonely old man living on his own . His na was Old Wan . His sons and daughters are working outside of the town . He spent most of his ti alone, other than playing chest with passers-by occasionally .
“His neighbors noticed that he had not exited his house for the last few days . His door was locked . Nobody answered door knocks or calls .
“Worried that he might be in trouble, a few neighbors forced his door open to check . They slled a foul stench upon entering the house . It ca from the bedroom . The neighbors walked up to the room . Through the window, they saw the dead Old Wan, whose body was still moving . Two of neighbors fainted on the spot, while the rest of them ran and contacted the police . ”
Ye Shaoyang interrupted, “Wait a minute . This doesn’t sound right . If he was moving, why would people think he was dead?”
Xie Yuqing bitterly smiled, “Why don’t you go inside and find out? I wouldn’t have called you if this wasn’t a paranormal case . ”
They soon arrived in front of an old hut . Two policen were guarding the entrance . They greeted him with a smile as soon as they saw him, “Good day, Mister Ye . ”
Ye Shaoyang politely nodded, but he had no idea who they were . As soon as he entered the compound, he asked Xie Yuqing, “How do they know ?”
Xie Yuqing teased, “Everyone in the Stone City police force knows you, Master Ye . ”
“I didn’t know I was famous . ” Ye Shaoyang mischievously answered .
Upon entering the living room, Ye Shaoyang imdiately slled the foul scent in the air . He frowned in disgust . Two more policen were guarding the room entrance, both wearing masks . They politely nodded upon seeing him and passed him a mask .
Instead of taking the mask, Ye Shaoyang grabbed so dried mugwort leaves from his backpack and filled his nostrils with it and passed so to Xie Yuqing .
“Does it even work?” Xie Yuqing doubted Ye Shaoyang’s thod, but she followed nevertheless . True enough, the leaf seed to filter out the stench, and she could hardly sll it now . She curiously asked, “How did this happen?”
“Dried mugwort leaves can filter out corpse Qi . ” Ye Shaoyang explained as he walked up to the window and peeped into the room . The concrete wall was painted with dried blood . Corpse Qi was getting thicker and thicker in the air, and there was a trace of demon Qi mixed in it .
However, Ye Shaoyang could not find anyone in the room . So, to get a clearer look, Ye Shaoyang squeezed his head through the window bars, trying to look at the blind spots in the room .
“Be Careful, Mister Ye!” The two policen warned, but before they could finish the sentence, a white figure raised up from below the window and gripped Ye Shaoyang’s neck .
Damn! A sneaky bastard! Ye Shaoyang instinctively pushed the figure away and pulled his head out from the bars . A policeman comnted from behind, “Wow, master, you are really brave! Who would have dared to lure out the creature using their own life!”
Ye Shaoyang guiltily faked a cough, but took the complint like a boss, “Don’t worry, there’s a window bar here, it can’t get out . ” In his heart, he was just thanking his luck for being able to escape in ti . If he had to use his own life as bait everyti he was catching spirits, he would have died a thousand tis .
The creature was lying on the floor after Ye Shaoyang pushed it away . It got into a staring competition with Ye Shaoyang . Now, Ye Shaoyang could see it clearly, and he was taken aback by the sight:
It was a creature with a human figure . It had rotten flesh below its waist instead of legs . White hair covered the rotten flesh . Wounds seem to cover the upper parts of its body, and white hair seed to grow out of the wounds as well . It had a pale face, wandering eyes . Anybody who saw this creature would know this was a dead person .
However, as dead as this person could be, it was not lifeless . Instead, it stood with its upper limbs . As it shook its head, it growled furiously at Ye Shaoyang .
Xie Yuqing and her colleagues took a few steps back upon sighting this creature .
“Little Ye, is this an undead?” After everything they had gone through together, Xie Yuqing finally gave up on calling Ye Shaoyang a ‘Little Trickster’ . Instead, she followed Xiao Ma, and called him Little Ye, signifying a closer relationship .
Ye Shaoyang did not answer . Instead, he observed the surroundings before he walked up to the room entrance . The door was locked, so he instructed, “Open the door . ”
The two policen stared at each other in awkward silence . Nobody dared to open the door, as they feared they would unleash a monster upon themselves .
Xie Yuqing, on the other hand, knew better . She had witnessed Ye Shaoyang’s abilities . So, she walked up to the door and kicked it open before she stepped backward . Ye Shaoyang leaped into the room . Upon seeing him, the creature crawled toward him like a beast, using its two hands .
