The collective of the masses of flesh that was introduced to Jyuuk as the 'Filth' was convulsing and slowly moving toward each other, trying to combine back into one. The wet squelching started to sound almost like words were being ford, and Jyuuk carefully listened.
"We dON't HavE a ReaSon!"
"You don't have a reason for being here?" Jyuuk asked with a raised brow, "So you're here because you were summoned, and that's it? Want to get you back t o where you ca from? My wife is on her way, she could make that happen."
The flesh continued on to practically scream, though Jyuuk had no idea where that sound could possibly co from. Though, the beastman figured that it didn't really matter anyway. He was talking to a sentient hivemind of flesh right now.
"wE WiLl NoT go bAcK!" the Filth responded, and Jyuuk let out a long groan.
"Fine, fine, you don't wanna go back, I get it. Just take it easy. So, what do you want? Even if you don't have a reason for being here, there surely must be sothing you want, right?"
"We HaVE no WaNTs!"
Jyuuk rolled his eyes, "Clearly, that's not the case. Because at the very least, you don't want to go back to where you ca from. Co on, just tell , we can make it happen. Food, entertainnt, freedom, whatever. You'd have to do us a couple of favors in return, of course, but-"
In response to Jyuuk's offer, the filth seed to almost beco angry, letting out a screech similar to before. Its flesh once more ford hands that crawled toward each other, and for now, Jyuuk just continued watching. There wasn't anything he could do about this one either. This thing didn't have anything like health that he could whittle down, and was clearly unable to die.
Jyuuk could probably trap it sohow, he certainly had a few different monsters that could contain creatures, but since he had no idea what he was actually dealing with, he didn't want to risk those monsters getting hurt sohow.
It seed like a better option to just wait for Xenia and have her deal with this weird thing that was summoned through a magic Jyuuk didn't even recognize, than for him to try sothing and just make it worse. Not to ntion, it wasn't even that strong, so he could just keep destroying it whenever it tried sothing.
And so, the beastman watched as the hands crawled toward each other, climbing on a pile to form sothing of a pillar. The hands grasped each other, tightening parts of the pillar and widening others, until what stood in front of Jyuuk was a person made out of disfigured hands.
"We Will Not Serve You!" the mass of hands yelled out, but Jyuuk just stood there.
"Mhm, sure," he let out a slight yawn, turning around toward the other end of the canyon. In the distance, Xenia and Brody were both approaching. Apparently Brody heard that there was sothing happening here and wanted to join because the treaty eting was too boring for him.
Which was fair enough; Jyuuk felt the sa, so he didn't even hesitate to leave when the shadow mouse ca and reported that sothing was happening.
"Honey!" Xenia exclaid, the wings of compressed air on her back putting her down in front of Jyuuk, "Are you okay?"
Brody, who had accompanied Xenia by simply running and jumping, also slowed down next to him but was rather focused on the Filth that was still forming its body right there in front of them, "Sheesh, what happened? So kind of satanic ritual or sothing?"
Jyuuk shrugged, "I don't even know. It doesn't seem to be related to the underworld if that's what you an, anything there is still so kind of living being in so way or another. This thing is just... a bit too 'wrong' for that. It's called 'Filth', apparently. Dear, do you know what this is?" he asked, looking at the high elf beside him.
She had already started glancing around the area, having spotted the magic circle on the ground and the number of trinkets that had been placed down. Her ears twitched in recognition, but she still shook her head.
"I don't think I know... maybe I knew, but not right now. It does seem familiar, though.
From what I can tell, it's definitely similar to so demon summoning rituals from earth," Xenia pointed out, "Of course, 'demon' is kind of a religious term on earth, while here it's the na of a species of people that got their na from the 'demons' like the type that Eisen is, but that's really just a na that was given to it because of our connection to the concept of demons that we already knew of beforehand."
Brody raised his brow. Being a half-demon himself, he knew a bit of the history of his species, but he didn't really see how that mattered, "So, if that's not a demon, then what is it?"
"Well, that's the thing, it might be one?" Xenia suggested, "The word 'demon' is, again, just what we call them in modern tis, and the word has deeply religious connotations. But these types of rituals date back to long, long before modern religions. It's more like they were trying to summon these deeply vicious forces to do their bidding, or to run rampant, or whatever.
I think this might be exactly that kind of ritual, that kind of 'deeply vicious force'."
With an imnse sense of curiousity in her eyes, Xenia looked at the figure, "Filth, huh? I wonder, is that a category, or a species? Or is that this entity? But it's made of hands, I wonder why that is... It's forming a person right now, so can it talk?"
"I guess so," Jyuuk replied, looking over at the mass of hands that was seemingly turning more and more into a humanoid form, "Just ask and it might answer, I guess."
"Oh, perfect!" Xenia responded, clapping her hands together excitedly, "In that case, Filth, what are you exactly?"
"We Are Filth," it replied simply, its words already sounding a lot clearer than they did before. Not to ntion, the hands that were making up its body seed to be a lot less 'wrong' all of a sudden. They still had too many digits, for the most part, but they were starting to bend in the correct ways at the very least.
"Right, right, but what does that an exactly? Are you the incarnation of the concept of 'filth', or is that a na that soone gave to you in the past?"
"We Are That Which is wrong," Filth replied, as all the hands had gathered back together. Jyuuk noticed that it was much smaller than it should be considering the massiveness of that flood of hands from earlier, "We are that which is filthy, which is not supposed to be. The touch of that which repulses, and the rage of those that are repulsed."
"... Is it or is it pretty articulate right now?" Brody asked, looking over at Jyuuk, as the beastman nodded his head.
"Yeah... it's learning, I think? Learning how to properly talk and move, I an."
That idea seed to make Xenia even more excited, "Interesting! Okay, Filth, what are you here for? What are you planning on doing next?"
The Filth stood there silently for a few monts. Its hands were carefully forming a mouth across its head, cutting vertically through its 'face'. From there, it began to speak again, with fingers wriggling inside of that mouth like teeth, "We will simply be. We will exist. But existence is hard for us. Existing is...
exhausting."
"An, brother," Brody scoffed, crossing his arms with a slight laugh. But the Filth slowly continued on, clearly not having joked.
"To continue to exist, to stop ourselves from ceasing, we need energy. Everything is energy, so we will take everthing, so we may not cease."
Jyuuk looked at Xenia with a slightly worried expression, "Do you know how to send that thing back from where it ca from?"
The high elf slowly shook her head, "Actually, I don't think it ca from anywhere. I think it's a concept that was just... brought into being," she pointed out, clearly understanding Jyuuk's anxiety, "But whichever it is, if it exists, then we can... make it unexist, right? It says it needs energy to exist, so if we stop it from eating and getting new energy, it should 'die', right?"
Jyuuk nodded, "Right. Let's do that. Brody, would you..."
"Join you in breaking this thing a couple tis? And here I thought you'd never ask."
