Chapter 115: Chapter 114: Overnight in the Wilderness
Qin Tian carried ng Yao on his back as they made their way slowly through the forest.
Luckily, with years of experience carrying out tasks in the wilderness, Qin Tian could easily discern the north and continued walking in that direction.
But the forest was vast, and the sky was about to darken, the two of them still hadn’t found their way out.
"Qin Tian, it’s getting dark, what should we do?" ng Yao panicked as she saw the blackness slowly descending.
"It’s getting dark then, we won’t make it out today, let’s find a place to spend the night," Qin Tian said.
"Ah?" ng Yao was startled.
"What, do you have a problem?"
"No, no problem..."
ng Yao looked around with a hint of worry, spending the night outdoors with Qin Tian?
That sohow felt very unsafe.
Qin Tian placed ng Yao on a rock and said, "We’ll spend the night here tonight, if we keep going, it’ll be too dark to find a better place to settle."
He glanced at the hesitant ng Yao and said, "I’m going to gather so firewood, you straighten out the area nearby, clean it up a bit."
After finishing speaking, Qin Tian was ready to leave, but then rembered sothing and handed ng Yao a handgun: "It’s not safe in this forest, you take a gun for self-defense, it only has four bullets." At the sa ti, Qin Tian returned her service pistol, which was devoid of ammunition, after all, a police officer should not lose her service weapon.
After a fierce battle with Qiao Zhicheng and his n, Qin Tian had scavenged four guns and nearly a hundred bullets from them. A machine gun was too cumberso, and inconvenient for Qin Tian to carry with ng Yao, so he didn’t go back to retrieve it.
Qin Tian knew these four guns would co in handy later, so he stashed them in his backpack.
After Qin Tian had left, ng Yao rested on the rock for a while, then slowly got up from the rock to hurry and clean up the dry branches and fallen leaves nearby.
These large rocks were located next to a hill’s stonewall, which was ideal for blocking the wind.
In front of the stonewall was a flat area. If sothing was laid on the ground for sleeping, it wouldn’t be too bad.
However, ng Yao worried, sleeping here with him tonight?
Would he harbor indecent thoughts towards ?
Looking down at her ample bosom, ng Yao quickly covered the slight cleavage that was exposed with her clothes, talking to herself, "No, I can’t give him any chance."
But then she thought, "No way, although he appears casual, he’s probably not that kind of indecent person, right?"
Thinking about it, Qin Tian had even given her a handgun; how could he still harbor indecent thoughts towards her, isn’t he afraid she would use the gun in self-defense? With this thought, ng Yao felt much more at ease. With the gun in her hands, she wasn’t afraid.
After waiting for about half an hour and Qin Tian still hadn’t returned, ng Yao started to think, "Actually, this guy isn’t as bad as I imagined. It feels... like he’s pretty decent."
Recalling how Qin Tian had bravely confronted robbers in the mall to rescue hostages, ng Yao nodded lightly, "He is skilled and courageously plotted alone to save the hostages... there’s indeed so heroism about him."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk, I shouldn’t overestimate him though. However heroic, he’s always informal and dubious," she huffed.
Thinking and thinking, before she knew it, an hour had passed. By then, it was almost completely dark. From the depths of the forest, the howling of wolves could be heard.
Hearing distant wolf howls and the sound of large birds brushing through the branches as they flew, ng Yao beca incredibly tense.
She vigilantly looked around, gripping the gun tightly in her hand, fearing that if a wild beast appeared, she wouldn’t have ti to react.
"Where could this guy have gone? Why hasn’t he co back yet..."
ng Yao muttered, her heart sinking with disappointnt and even despair, "Could he have taken this chance to abandon
and run away?"
The more she thought about it, the more scared she beca, feeling uneasy and anxious.
She didn’t know Qin Tian very well, if Qin Tian had really left her behind because her injuries were too troubleso...
ng Yao shook her head violently, afraid to continue the thought, she just prayed silently, "Qin Tian, please don’t leave
behind. You have to co back. I don’t want to die... As long as you co back, I won’t be difficult anymore, I’ll be nicer to you, just don’t leave !"
Finally, after about an hour and a half, the sound of twigs being stepped on ca from the distant woods.
ng Yao’s face tensed up with nervousness because it was almost completely dark and she couldn’t see if the far-off noise was a person or a beast. She raised her hand with a gun, lying on a rock, nervously aiming.
"ng beauty, are you still there?"
Qin Tian’s voice ca from afar.
Upon hearing his voice, ng Yao almost cried out in relief—Qin Tian hadn’t abandoned her!
"ng beauty..." Qin Tian called out again.
"I’m here," ng Yao replied.
Just as she was about to put on airs, rembering her vow that she wouldn’t if Qin Tian ca back, she imdiately pursed her lips and composed herself.
As Qin Tian approached, ng Yao saw him carrying a big bundle of firewood and on his back, tied with a grass rope, so wild ga including a wild rabbit and a chicken.
"What took you so long to get back? I thought..." ng Yao couldn’t help but complain.
"You thought I had run off and left you?"
Qin Tian sat down beside her, smiling, "How could I? If I wanted to abandon you, I would have done it earlier."
Hearing this, ng Yao felt a warmth in her heart, "Thank you."
"Now that I haven’t abandoned you, I obviously have to bring you back. By the way, given all the care I’m giving you, your family will surely give
so reward, right? Hehe, your dad is an official, he must have money and power, right? They’ll give
so reward for sure, won’t they?"
"You..."
ng Yao couldn’t help but laugh and cry at Qin Tian’s following words, right after she had thanked him.
And here she thought he was a good guy, only to find out he was after a "reward"—she was so mistaken about him, a greedy character!
Although she was annoyed internally, ng Yao still said, "Alright, alright, bring
back and my dad will give you a reward." She was still worried about Qin Tian abandoning her, so she dared not talk back.
Qin Tian dug a pit between two large rocks, made a fire, then skillfully cleaned up the wild chicken and rabbit, preparing to roast them.
ng Yao watched from the side, seeing how adept Qin Tian was, she couldn’t help but ask, "Qin Tian, are you a chef? Or a butcher?" Despite having spent quite so ti together, ng Yao still didn’t know Qin Tian’s profession, only that he was involved with the Fire Dragon Gang.
"Neither," Qin Tian dismissed her without paying much attention.
After a while, Qin Tian started skillfully roasting the cleaned wild rabbit and chicken over the fire, with ng Yao silently watching.
Howl!
Just then, not far away, the howling of wolves suddenly erupted!
