Chapter 88: Mistakenly Held Rich Heiress 087 (11)

“Butler, take the young lady and the family doctor to her bedroom,” Mr. An glanced at Mrs. An, “You co with to the study room. Li’en, entertain Lady Pei and the others.”

Mrs. An followed Mr. An to the study room.

“Did you see the injury on Shaohua’s hand?” After sitting down, Mr. An didn’t rebuke Mrs. An, but simply asked.

“Injured?” Mrs. An’s mouth fell open, but she couldn’t co up with an answer and felt so regret in her heart.

Seeing her like this, Mr. An sighed, “I know you’ve always been proud of Toutou, but Shaohua is your daughter, even if the scales of fairness don’t balance, you should at least have so asure in your heart.”

In another place, Ye Shaohua was having her hand injury examined by the family doctor.

Her injury had already been dealt with; the dical laboratory was full of dical fanatics.

As the family doctor undid the bandage, he watched the nominal young lady to the side.

Truth be told, this young lady, who had been nurtured outside of the family, was already outstanding enough; not everyone who desires the title of Number One Scholar could easily obtain it.

Moreover, she had not received any special nurturing.

Unfortunately, she was compared to An Toutou.

Now, who in the outside world doesn’t know the An family’s Lady An Toutou? She is almost a universal genius; she has been winning math olympiad trophies since early years and is now a seed player in the world of Go—it is said that her accomplishnts are even reported in R Country. How can anyone in the literary world not speak of her with admiration when she has such achievents not yet eighteen years old?

And those hands—An Toutou’s hands have been well cared for since childhood, smooth and delicate.

This Miss Ye, though her hand shape is beautiful, was raised in a middle-class family after all; the roughness in the palms is evident.

Speaking of individual achievent, Ye Shaohua is successful, but when compared to the trophies garnered by An Toutou, she seems to fall a bit short. Mrs. An’s maternal family has a scholarly background, but looking at Ye Shaohua, one might fear she has never even touched a chess piece or a zither.

Let alone accomplishing other comndable feats.

As the family doctor thought this, he removed the bandage.

Seeing the wound mostly scabbed over, with a patch of light green ointnt in the deeper cuts, he paused, “Where did you get this dicine from?”

It looked sowhat familiar to him as sothing from Hua Country’s laboratory, a dicine only found in the hands of very few, reputed to have the strongest healing effects that leave almost no scars—a dicine he’d only heard described by dical doctors.

The light green, almost transparent ointnt was highly recognizable.

“Just bought it at any pharmacy,” Ye Shaohua casually re-wrapped the bandage.

The doctor, seeing her nonchalance, also felt it was probably just as she said; after all, even Mr. An wouldn’t be able to get his hands on such a dicine, let alone just Ye Shaohua.

However, the injury didn’t need further treatnt, so the family doctor tidied up and went to the study room to greet Mr. An.

Ye Shaohua didn’t want to go, but at that mont, she received a ssage from the laboratory and followed him.

When she reached the corridor, she saw Mrs. An.

“Shaohua, I’m sorry, is the injury on your hand okay? Just now, your mother didn’t an it, I’ve been preoccupied with Toutou’s upcoming competition, you know…” Mrs. An started to reach out to take her hand.

Ye Shaohua subtly stepped aside to avoid her touch.

Mrs. An only heard her calm voice, “Excuse , please move.”

Not until Ye Shaohua entered the study room did Mrs. An co back to her senses, still standing in the corridor.

Ye Shaohua didn’t expect the Pei Family to be present when she entered.

“Is your hand okay?” Pei Xu noticed her injured hand.

Ye Shaohua shook her head slightly, her voice light, “It’s alright.”

Pei Xu wanted to say sothing, but seeing Ye Shaohua’s cold deanor, he suddenly didn’t know what to say to start a conversation.

“Mr. An, we’ve thought it over. Although the engagent was with our Axu and the young lady of the An Family, Toutou is soone we’ve watched grow up, knowing her well. She and Axu also have deep childhood camaraderie,” Lady Pei glanced at Ye Shaohua who had entered, then quickly averted her gaze, “What I an is, the engagent should proceed as usual, and we’ll go ahead with the engagent banquet.”

Lady Pei was aware of Ye Shaohua becoming the Number One Scholar and had once marveled that soone from the An family could be so accomplished.

There was controversy within the Pei Family regarding this union, but most favored An Toutou.

Although An Toutou was not born into the An Family and might not inherit its wealth, the Pei Family no longer needed to rely on a marriage alliance for growth.

Furthermore, having raised An Toutou for eighteen years, the An Family had moulded her into an outstanding individual in every aspect, unlike Ye Shaohua who, aside from her academic success, seed to have nothing else impressive to showcase.

But…

Seeing her usually reserved son taking the initiative to speak to Ye Shaohua, Lady Pei frowned slightly, not seeing it as a good sign.

On the side, An Toutou was watching Mr. An nervously.

“As long as you have no objections, that’s fine,” Mr. An deliberated for a long while before finally nodding, his words making An Toutou almost jump with joy.

He was satisfied with Pei Xu’s talent and character, but since the Pei Family was not interested in Shaohua, he wouldn’t let his granddaughter be treated unfairly.

Turning to look at Ye Shaohua, his gaze softened, “Shaohua, is the injury on your hand alright?”

The family doctor quickly described Ye Shaohua’s injury.

Mr. An was then reassured, but still took the ti to instruct her carefully.

Everyone in the study room was surprised; who doesn’t know Mr. An’s fierce temper, one that never softened despite his years.

This was the first ti they had seen him treat soone so gently.

Lady Pei observed Ye Shaohua with an inquiring look.

“It’s okay, I’m going back. But before I leave, I have sothing for you,” Ye Shaohua was used to such gazes and didn’t mind, instead, she took out a white bottle from her pocket.

She had originally wanted to stay overnight to monitor Mr. An’s condition, but the laboratory reported an issue, so she had to hurry back.

The pure white bottle lacked any label or description of its contents.

“What is this?” Mr. An received it.

“It’s for nourishnt. I got this dicine for you,” Ye Shaohua didn’t say it was for alleviating heart disease, her tone unhurried, “Three pills every morning should be sufficient.”

“Miss Ye, where did you get this tonic from?” Seeing her like this, Lady Pei couldn’t help but ask, “Mr. An’s dication is prepared by the Military District Hospital; he shouldn’t take dicine of an unknown origin…”

“No worries, they are all tonics; it doesn’t matter if you take one less or one more,” Mr. An waved his hand nonchalantly.

Plus, he believed Ye Shaohua wouldn’t harm him.

The family doctor hadn’t left yet; he wasn’t so much concerned.

He was just staring at the neck of the white bottle where there was a prominent mark; the more he looked, the wider his eyes grew.

An Tingjun was most afraid of his grandfather, and now seeing the doctor’s reaction, he frowned, turning to Ye Shaohua, “Toutou previously bought dicine for grandpa from M Country’s newest research, acquired through a chess player she knew who had to wait a month to get it. If you really want to show concern for grandpa, please be more serious. This unmarked, unidentified dicine—don’t you know taking it might kill soone?”
