Ye Family’s mother had always known that her second daughter’s grades weren’t good, and that spending so much money on her studies was just a waste.

So when Ye Shaohua said she wanted to work part-ti, she readily agreed.

Whether she studied or not didn’t matter, as all she could get was an ordinary second-tier college degree, and finding a good job afterwards would still be unlikely.

It was at this mont that Ye Fan finished his waterlon and spoke up, "I’ll also get a part-ti job during the sumr vacation."

"No way!" Ye Family’s mother frowned deeply when she heard Ye Fan say this, "You have math competitions during the sumr vacation. Just focus on your studies earnestly; you don’t need to worry about money."

"I can work and study at the sa ti, it won’t affect , and I’ve grown up," he said.

After saying this, he went straight to his room.

Seeing his resolute attitude, both Ye Family’s father and mother were infuriated, "What’s wrong with this child, why doesn’t he listen?!"

Ye Jinlan had been at university and had only co back for a few days, so she only just learned about the Ye Family’s current situation.

Observing her brother’s reaction, she hesitated for a mont and then said, "Dad, Mom, there’s no need to buy a new phone."

Ye Jinlan was going abroad, and living expenses there were not comparable to ho. Moreover, Ye Family’s parents didn’t want their daughter to feel shortchanged. Upon hearing her words, they objected outright, "Your phone has been with you since the high school sumr vacation; of course you can’t continue to use it abroad. Just go abroad and focus on your studies with peace of mind."

The Ye Family was not well-off either.

In earlier years, there had been so savings, but since they bought the school district house, those savings were long gone.

Now, they were living on the father’s monthly salary of less than ten thousand yuan, and the expenses of three children were too much to bear. The fuel cost alone for Ye Family’s father’s truck was almost two thousand a month.

They lived a tightly budgeted life.

Ye Fan rarely asked his parents for money. He was a boy who didn’t smoke, drink, snack, or go to bars.

As for Ye Shaohua, due to the original protagonist’s belief that she was a burden to the family, she was even more reluctant to ask her father for money.

The two of them together didn’t spend as much in a year as Ye Jinlan did in a month at university.

Even so, the Ye Family’s life was still sowhat strained.

But Ye Jinlan going abroad was a good thing. The Ye Family’s parents regretted not having received a high education themselves. Now that Ye Jinlan had the opportunity to go abroad, they would struggle to earn the money needed, whatever it took.

Once she ca back from abroad and found a high-paying, respectable job, their efforts would be worth it.

Ye Shaohua thoughtfully glanced at the tightly closed door of Ye Fan’s room.

Then she finished the last bite of her waterlon, entered her room, and took a set of T-shirts and shorts to the bathroom for a shower.

The next day was Saturday.

Ye Shaohua and Ye Fan attended the sa high school, with one in their first year and the other in their third year respectively. Neither of them had to go to school that day.

When she got up, it was already past nine o’clock.

Ye Fan, who was studying for the competition in the Hall, was surprised to see Ye Shaohua getting up so late; his sister rarely got up this late.

"Second sister, there’s still porridge in the pot," Ye Fan reminded her when he saw her squinting her eyes in search of the bathroom.

Ye Shaohua casually answered, "Hmm."

While she was washing her face, she heard soone knocking on the door.

The person at the door was Tian Yu from across the street.

"Tian Yu, you’re just in ti. A look at this problem for , please? Our teacher said it’s a bit advanced, and he doesn’t understand it very well either," Ye Fan promptly showed his competition book to him.

Tian Yu took the book and swept the room with a casual glance.

"Why are you alone?" he asked while looking at the competition problem.

"My parents are out, my eldest sister is at a gathering with classmates; it’s just and my second sister at ho," Ye Fan replied.

Upon hearing this answer, Tian Yu didn’t say anything further.

However, Ye Shaohua, now finished with brushing her teeth and washing her face, sneered to herself. Tian Yu’s true interest was clearly not in his question; he was actually asking about Ye Jinlan’s whereabouts.

"Isn’t this problem from last year’s IMO, the final question?" As a forr competitor, Tian Yu recognized the last question at once, "A challenging math problem involving set theory and graph theory. I know the first three parts, but I’m clueless about the proof of the last conjecture."

IMO problems could be as obscure and profound as possible.

Especially on these seemingly trivial problems, so were even derived from experintal conjectures nad after mathematicians found in math publications.

At this point, it’s not just testing individual ability, but also the extent of one’s extracurricular mathematics reading.

This was sothing neither Tian Yu nor Ye Fan possessed.

"Our teacher said he’d check the resources," Ye Fan was not disappointed, having anticipated this, "He should have the result by Monday."

Turning the page, he asked Tian Yu another question.

Ye Shaohua finished her al and washed her own bowl.

The two were still discussing the problem.

As she passed by them, she saw Ye Fan’s calculation draft paper set aside, sat down in the Hall, and turned on the TV.

She currently had no phone or computer, so other than reading books, watching TV was her only option.

Ye Shaohua thought about what she should do to earn so money.

Tian Yu, noticing that Ye Shaohua was actually watching TV in the Hall, frowned slightly. Didn’t she see that Ye Fan was studying?

But since Ye Fan didn’t seem to care, he kept silent.

"Shaohua, don’t you need to review?" After guiding Ye Fan, Tian Yu sat down not far from Ye Shaohua, "The college entrance exam is only a month away."

Holding a cup of water in her hand, Ye Shaohua replied, "I just finished studying, taking a break now."

Seeing her resigned attitude, Tian Yu said nothing more, but this ti he noticed Ye Shaohua’s hands.

He didn’t expect that despite lacking other notable attributes, her hands were exceptionally beautiful.

He was montarily taken aback.

Then he looked away and lowered his eyes to his phone.

When Ye Family’s parents returned, Tian Yu was still there.

"Uncle, Auntie." When he saw Ye Family’s father and mother, Tian Yu imdiately stood up, greeted them, and very naturally took the waterlon from Ye Mother’s hand.

Ye Mother, looking at the handso and tall boy, thought well of this child who had good looks, good grades, and respect for them.

Especially since Tian Yu’s family was well-off, owning a small villa in the City Center.

However, Tian Yu’s parents didn’t seem very fond of Ye Shaohua, which made Ye Family’s father and mother feel uneasy.

Looking at Ye Shaohua sitting to one side, Ye Mother’s heart couldn’t help thinking more than once that it would be better if Tian Yu’s girlfriend were their eldest daughter.
