Minister Shen had been around the block and was no fool.

He had noticed Su Lan early on, and after Ye Shaohua left, he rely greeted Su Lan out of politeness. When he heard that Su Lan was Ye Shaohua’s mother, he instinctively gave her so respectful courtesy.

But now that he thought about it carefully, he realized sothing seed off.

Was Ye Shaohua’s attitude toward Su Lan sowhat cold just now?

Thinking this, he couldn’t help but take another look at Su Lan, and his smile faded considerably, "So Mrs. Ye doesn’t know what her daughter is doing?"

Su Lan felt a bit awkward, her smile awkward and hesitant, unable to get the words out.

On reflection, she had been devoted entirely to Ye Tong, and since Ye Shaohua had returned, she indeed hadn’t tried to understand her...

Seeing Su Lan’s embarrassing expression, Minister Shen pretty much understood.

"Perhaps Mrs. Ye could ask her daughter when she has the ti. I have so other matters to attend to." He nodded at Su Lan and, without the warmth of before, left the place rather coldly.

Su Lan stood still for quite a while, only snapping out of it when her phone made a noise.

She glanced at the ssage on the phone, a flash of malice in her eyes.

An hour later.

Beijing Prison.

Ye Tong sat behind the separation glass. In just over a dozen days, she no longer resembled the Young Lady of the Ye Family, her face worn, as if she had aged several years, and looking very haggard.

Her lips were sowhat pale as she sat in the wheelchair, dazed, until a shadow fell in front of her and she suddenly looked up. Seeing Su Lan’s undisguised look of disgust, Ye Tong sneered, "What do you want? To gloat?"

Su Lan stared intently at Ye Tong. The Ye Tong of now lacked her usual grace and elegance, her face was marked by sharp acidity, and she bore a sullen air of defeat.

However, Su Lan’s gaze no longer held the pity it once did for Ye Tong.

"Do you now regret believing my words back then? Such a sha, Ye Shaohua won’t forgive you, will she?" Ye Tong, sitting in the wheelchair, raised her head to look at Su Lan and said softly, "I won’t just die here in prison."

Su Lan, looking at Ye Tong’s smug expression and thinking back to Minister Shen’s treatnt of her, could hardly wait to tear Ye Tong’s face apart.

It was all because of this person—she lost not only her two daughters but now even her son and husband paid her no heed.

But it was too late for words now.

Su Lan’s body swayed slightly; she collapsed onto the chair behind her, her deanor defeated, her heart felt as if it was being churned by knives.

How had she not seen Ye Tong for who she was? Why, just on Ye Tong’s word, had she forsaken Ye Shaohua to the point where even after so long Ye Shaohua still wouldn’t forgive her...

Su Lan was filled with regrets, but she was utterly powerless, only able to watch Ye Tong with gritted teeth.

Seeing Su Lan’s state, Ye Tong finally withdrew her gaze, laughing with so satisfaction.

Ye Tong pushed her own makeshift wheelchair, planning to head back to her cell.

But before she had gone far, she saw a familiar old man standing by the door, wearing a long robe.

She did not recognize the man, but he also looked sowhat familiar. Ye Tong, observing his profile, suddenly rembered seeing this man by Ye Shaohua’s side.

"Are you here for ?" Far from the leisureliness she had when seeing Su Lan, Ye Tong was noticeably on guard upon seeing the Butler.

And there was a hint of expectation.

"Of course, there are so things I’d like to clarify before you et your end," the Butler said with a mild smile, very polite.

Ye Tong suddenly looked up, realizing sothing, and gripped the wheelchair tightly, "What did you say?"

The Butler smiled faintly, "You nearly hard Young Lady Ye, and the higher-ups are very angry."

"Are you joking with ?" Ye Tong pursed her lips, scoffing, "From start to finish, I haven’t done anything, nor have I truly hard anyone. The Ye Family might have sent to prison, but surely they can’t ddle with things here..."

Ye Tong had always believed that as long as she was alive, there was hope.

"The Ye Family naturally can’t," the Butler gazed gently at Ye Tong, "but the status of Young Lady Ye is sufficient."

"Her?" Ye Tong was dismissive, "What kind of status could she have..."

"Ye Tong, do you rember how Ye Li, the Young Master, was seriously injured and helpless?" the Butler looked at Ye Tong almost pityingly.

A flash of realization struck Ye Tong, "Because of Doctor Nan... Does Doctor Nan truly know Ye Shaohua?"
