Chapter 569: Departure

The water splashed on Victor and Eduta as they started to wake up. Jace is on his hoverbike driving over the water. Behind him tethered to the back of his hoverbike is a makeshift tube that was carrying Victor and Eduta. He had made it to carry them across the dwindling ocean while they were asleep.

He called it dwindling because the water was draining and getting lower as he moved toward the Northern Continent. He did it so they could get a move on. Getting off his planet beca a bigger priority when the consciousness started talking.

"How long were we knocked out?" Victor asked. As he pulled himself up. As he did the raft they were on shook slightly.

"You are going to want to stay down." Jace responded. "The raft is not stable enough for either of you to move around." Victor laid back down and Jace answered his question. "You were knocked out by the death screech of sothing in the pit. You were both out cold for the last few days. A lot has changed in that ti."

"Are we still going to the Northern Continent?" Victor asked from the back. Checking to make sure the coat covered him completely.

"Yeah, we are almost there as well." Jace answered. "But the water level has gone down enough that we will have to make a slight climb up to the area where the spacecraft is waiting. A few other things as well, the planet is halfway to independence from the ruling governnt structure and we do not want to be here when it does."

"How far out are we?"

"An hour before we reach land." Jace answered honestly. "When we get there, you will take Eduta and the others and go. I am surrendering myself to the local governnt so they can take

aboard their ship."

"Why?" Victor asked.

"We need a way to navigate this galaxy. Know who is who. I am going to go get it. The military ship will have the data we need but the remote bases and other things do not have it." Jace explained as he sped up a bit. "So I am going to go steal it. I will leave instructions for Cain."

"Couldn’t you have just contacted him and told him what to do?"

"Nope. At least not all of them. I do not think our communications are secure. I will not underestimate the locals. Besides, the information I will give you would be compromising." Jace explained.

"In what way?"

"Well for one, I think I am mutating and I believe I am not the only one. Have you felt strange since getting on the planet?" Jace asked as he looked in the distance at the shoreline. Or rather the new shoreline.

"I an... a bit... but it was. I am not sure how to describe it." Victor explained. "How are we mutating?"

"I have a few theories, mostly because of a few records I have perused in the past. Shilla should have so information if I am right. Ask her to create a temporary asure before I figure out sothing permanent." Jace told him.

—--------------------

Sherlock moved quietly through the building as he adjusted his stance. Once he was at the window he looked out of it at the hangar in the distance. All around it were the remnants of destroyed buildings and downed small craft and vehicles.

"Do any of you have sight of any of these people?" Sherlock asked as he aid through his rifle’s sight at the hangar. It took him a few days to co up with a plan. "The explosives should be ready. We just need to make sure the foreigners are on sight."

"I have sight of a robotic dog. But it appears to be the only one. It is moving back inside." One of his people inford him.

"Oversight has a thermal scan of the building. We see a few bodies and one large object with a heat signature. Did they build a space craft?" Oversight was the small craft they were using to watch the building with thermal equipnt.

Sherlock thought about the data he had collected. "Possibly. We need to move in-"

Crash!

They watched as the hangar broke open and a spacecraft ca out. Destroying the hangar as it did. Sherlock barely had an idea before the rectangular ship took off. "This is Sherlock! Secure the do’s ship pathway!" He waited a mont and only heard static. "Damn it. What is going on?"

"Sir! I am getting reports that the do’s pathway control center was attacked!" He heard through his communications.

—----------------------

K humd as she typed on the console. "Huh hum huh hum... do you like music Jamal?" She asked as they heard the roar of tal and the pathway began opening up. A mont later a larger rectangular ship with engines flew inside the pathway.

"Gustavian. I like Gustavian. Now co on. Destroy the controls and let’s head on out." Jamal told her as he shot one of the injured guards that K had failed to kill, that she had left alive on purpose because his injuries were grievous and painful. "We have to join the others."

"Oh? Okay! Let’s go!" K skipped happily to the doorway and opened it.

Jamal watched her go and sighed before shaking his head. He pulled a device shaped like half a ball and clicked a button before tossing it onto the controls that K just left. He then followed K out as it exploded and the entire room lit up in fire.

They moved to the edge of the walkway as fire spewed out of the doorway. The ship moved closer to them and an airlock opened to reveal Shilla. K jumped across the gap first. Throwing herself across the gap between the walkway and airlock with laughter of excitent that was filled with glee.

Jamal grunted as he ran forward and jumped after her. He landed on the edge of the airlock but then started to slip out before Shilla reached out and grabbed his hand. Pulling him into the ship. "Thanks." He told her.

"No problem." Shilla answered as she closed the airlock door. "We are all aboard Cain. Crystal, take us out into space."

—---------------------------

Sherlock watches through his mobile command center through a screen as the foreigners ship went out into space. Then his eyebrows twitched as the ship disappeared. He reached up and rubbed his eyebrows. A mont later a communication device began ringing and he answered.

"Yes?"

"Sherlock, do you have the foreigners?" The prince asked.

"No." Sherlock chuckled. "They made a space craft from scratch and apparently sothing to make themselves invisible like the Chaleon League. Tell the crew to run a full spectrum scan on the external entrance of the pathway to this do. If we do not know how to find them, we won’t be able to."

"Sherlock, I thought you already knew where they were. Why did you not try and take them sooner? Did you wait for this day specifically because you knew they would be leaving today?" The prince asked with a trace of suspicion and paranoia filling his tone.

Sherlock frowned as he looked at the screen. The people around him stopped working and looked toward him. They had looks of shock on their faces. "Sir..." Sherlock sighed. "We could not just move against them. We needed a plan and to observe them. We also needed to figure out what they had in there."

"It does not take three days to do that! Are you incompetent or just playing at being incompetent?" The prince demanded before the communication was suddenly cut off.

"Who shit on his toast?" One of the nearby soldiers asked in shock.

Sherlock shrugged, "I have no clue. But sothing is clearly going on and I think the prince is playing into soone’s hands while he has us on this wild goose chase." He told them. "Prep our ships so we can return. Any word on West yet?"

"The last communique with her had her heading to the eastern side of the Northern Continent. Apparently she was tracking a group of bounty hunters who were tracking her prey. She said she was actively on them but she had to go incognito to prevent being caught up with the rebels that are in the region." One of the soldiers started explaining.

"The prince’s ship was trying to watch her from orbit but lost her almost imdiately after she landed. I think he is paranoid of you after that. Apparently the crew is worried about his paranoia, it is only getting worse." A different soldier explained.

"Yeah... soone is definitely aggravating him." Sherlock clicked his tongue. "Bring all the information about what they got and give it to our engineers. See if they can figure out what they made."

"What about the archivist?"

"I do not trust that woman. She has been up to sothing since they got here." Sherlock explained.
