Chapter 562: Western Continent III
"No. I would suggest climbing the mountain." Jace told them. "You can figure out your solution on your own. I am just providing a few possible options." He announced before walking past them and towards the road that would likely lead farther up the mountain. If the coordinates were right, he would find another village before he arrived at the spot higher up the mountain.
He walked through the jungle. Keeping watch for any sign of movent as he did. He was not the only one. Several others followed him. He walked for several minutes until he arrived at a river. There was what was definitely supposed to be a bridge here.
His belief was corroborated a few seconds later by several of the tribal people yelling at each other. "Umm... they are saying sothing destroyed the bridge."
"No shit." Jace chuckled as he looked at the massive river that was blocking their path. "Please tell
there is another-
"Raaarrrghh!" They heard a roar that shook the ground. Then the river that was moving slowly before began bubbling until suddenly bursting in flas. It was not the only thing either as a mont later a few of the bushes surrounding the river burst into flas.
"What the hell!?! Why is it so hot?" One of the soldiers asked. While the tribal people scread and ran back through the jungle.
"I suggest you retreat." Jace told him as his armor picked up the increase of temperature. He walked towards the bridge as he looked up towards the sky as his visor picked up a heat signature.
"What about you?" One of the soldiers asked before his arm caught fire and he scread and put it out.
"I will be fine." Jace answered as he dematerialized his rifle from his back.
The creature flapped its wings before landing in the river. Throwing up water onto the shore that put out fires for only a mont before it turned into steam and the river continued to boil. He looked up to the head of the creature as it looked down.
Honestly... he would not have believed it if he did not see it. "Now, considering I am sealed off completely and nothing is probing my mind. I am going with the assumption you are real."
"Raaarrrghhh!!!" It scread again before snapping its jaws down to try and bite him.
"Okay!" Jace grunted out as he leaned to the side and grabbed a bone that was protruding from its head. So as it pulled its head back he went with it. "I guess giant lizards that look like dragons are not actually intelligent!" He called out as he landed on the creature’s back and pulled out and stabbed the creature in the back.
It roared again as it flapped its wings and flew upwards. Jace grabbed hold as he tried to keep hold as the dragon, he did not have a better na for it, flew upwards toward the sky. If the visor was to be believed, he was climbing fairly high up above the sea level of the planet.
Then his helt began crackling to life as it started picking up signals. He did not even think for a second before he called Cain. After a mont he picked up.
"Yes, Jace-"
"Cain, there is a blackout zone over the Western Continent. Try to get a ssage to them informing the local military that the creatures from the Mortella ship were released and running rampant!" Jace told him as he climbed up. The air started getting thinner but it fortunately did not matter to him. Nor apparently did it matter to the creature. "Holy shit, are we going into space?"
"Umm..." Cain made a noise of surprise. "You are not just climbing up to space. You are going towards the Imperial ship-" He was cut off as the dragon suddenly flipped and began flying downward.
"Fuck!" Jace scread as he climbed up the dragon’s neck.
"I did not need to contact them. Several ships are inbound, all of them coming toward you-zzzttt!" The radio cut out as they probably passed the blockage again.
He was near the neck. So Jace stabbed upwards and through part of the neck. The dragon scread again before suddenly flipping over and spreading its wings. Which resulted in him flying off its back.
He crossed his arms over his chest as he passed through a storm cloud. Then he felt the impact as he crashed through sothing. Which hurt. But not enough to make him pass out. Then he slamd into sothing else and could tell the impact was massive as he was buried under debris. He groaned as his visor picked up several broken limbs before he passed out.
—-------------------------
The storm had set in just about the sa ti that the sun had risen. But it seed to only cover this upper area of the mountain. Aside from the mountain top that was covered in snow and a snowstorm constantly.
Victor had been down here for only a few days but it had thrown him for a loop. The constant clouds were blocking the sunlight which allowed him to move around and help the people from the monastery. As well as helping the guards that were guarding the path from a variety of creatures that tried to make its way to the monastery.
They heard a roar that shook the ground. But they ignored it as it was normal around here. Just another day for them. The thing that was roaring, a thing from fucking legends, a dragon. Victor approached another of the injured people to check on them. Mostly to check on their blood flow. Which was sort of like his job.
He would go around and check on the status of people that were injured or that had been patched up. His ability had beco useful for-
"Raaarrghh!" That was much closer.
Victor stood up and walked to the door. It swung open as he approached. The civilians were being funneled in but still made way for him. As soon as he was out of the monastery Eduta approached him.
[Even the creatures from beyond are retreating. Sothing has angered the-] He stopped mid thought as they saw the giant gray behemoth of a dragon fly over them and higher into the sky. A wave of heat passed over them that turned any tiny puddles of water into steam.
Victor froze. Not because of the sight of the creature. It had flown by a few tis but typically stayed away. But now it was flying right over them. Acting out of nature for itself. He thinks he knows why as well. Because he spotted sothing that made him freeze, a figure in white armor.
[Who is Jace?] Eduta asked as they watched it climb up into the sky and pass through the clouds.
"My commanding officer..." Victor answered as he saw the lightning stopped for a mont as they passed through the clouds.
[He was riding the back of the dragon. Why was he riding on the back of that dragon-like creature?] Eduta asked as they approached the edge of the wall that enclosed the monetary and the temporary camps.
"I am guessing he did not an to. I an... he is crazy. But definitely not that crazy." Victor inford his new friend.
[Yes well your friend is likely dead. He was probably an anchor for electricity when they passed through the storm cloud. By this point that creature has reached the upper atmosphere which no normal creature can survive without proper armor.] Eduta explained. [I know the master sent us to et one of your people. But it might have been a fool’s errand.]
"I doubt that." Victor answered and then they heard a sonic boom. Then both the dragon and a smaller figure ca through the cloud layer again. The dragon was flopping side to side before disappearing past the wall, out of view.
But the smaller figure was coming towards them. Going right for the monastery. "Oh that is not good." Victor remarked as he watched the white armored figure slamd into one of the towers of the monastery, which fortunately redirected him as he tore through it like a cot before flying into the side of the mountain that was just behind the monastery.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
The bell from the tower he tore through rang as it fell and slamd into the ground. As it did, Victor ignored it. He walked towards the crash site.
[If your friend was not dead before he is dead now.] Eduta pointed out.
"Not my friend." Victor chuckled as he jogged around the building and toward the hole. Climbing up a bit to look at the deep hole. "But he is definitely buried. Can you hear his mind?"
[No, that is so impressive shielding around his mind. How is he doing that?] Eduta asked as he climbed up next to Victor.
"Experience." Victor answered.
