I deployed all my enchanted devices in the morning. Then I ford the prison high in the sky before dropping it and adding in the bottom. Much the sa as I had done to Evil Eye Umbra, so I did to the Roman incarcerating them into a steel box.

I consulted no one, I asked for no opinions and acted based on my mind.

When questions ca, I gave brief, concise answers that seed to satisfy them. I worked on enchantnts for Tara’s prosthetic hand. I absorbed myself in magic and worked with astral power.

I checked in later and as predicated Mars had smashed a hole in the box prison. I repaired the damage and fixed it. Petty, but that was their punishnt. If they were going to commit war then they would beco prisoners.

I knew that any offer of peace, truce or ceasefire would be a trick. I targeted only soldiers. They would suffer for their occupation.

Mars would not move to retreat. He feared his father more than . Did I have the malice to be cruel enough to break Mars? I doubted it.

I should be enjoying my life. Fucking lovers who threw themselves at . Maybe the maid next once she gets used to her new body. The maid, isn’t that so patriarchal ideal? Bah! Or one of my lovers whose lives depend on and are grateful to beyond imagining.

Am I not powerful?

I wanted to create a place of wonder where the people I care about don’t get killed in the streets, where Tulisa doesn’t feel the need to throw herself at to get my favour and everyone is free and happy. When I can just live with Morgana, Iris, even Umbra and I guess raise Samiya.

I tinkered with the enchantnt. So, it would still function like a real hand, but with so added benefits. There would be less feeling than real flesh. I wasn’t quite sure how to do sensation yet which was going to be a problem if Tulisa wanted sex for she would feel pleasure and could orgasm but less like a shadow of what actual flesh makes us feel. Better than a steel limb, but not quite a real arm again, just yet, for Tara and most of Tulisa’s body.

Like a real hand, it would open and close the fingers, but to create the sensations so her brain would receive them. It was like a translation error of a bottleneck in the response between the brain and my magical false flesh. That was a work in progress.

I experinted on Tara’s enchantnts and would add more to Tulisa’s body.

I worked in a basic power enchantnt that would grant long life, vitality while also enhancing her natural abilities though to a lesser extent than my lovers because of the limited space to carve the power enchantnt and her utter lack of innate magic. She would be superhuman compared to normal humans and surpass olympic athletes, a sort of captain Arica type buff. It was in effect a battery and an amplifier.

The power rune required so drain from , more than I would like, but it was fine for now that I only applied it to a limited number of people. It did little to affect my quantity of mana, but rather interfered with the flow of mana like a great river getting parted bit by bit.

I stocked in two mana barriers that worked two fold: a basic, thinner shield that would cover her whole body like an outer layer of skin and the second was a proper thicker barrier that she could extend out like a tal shield but far more durable. Both would regenerate and be powered by the power enchantnt.

The most ambition was to allow the hand the elasticity enchantnt so the hand could be reshaped like it was plastic. It could be stretched, enlarged (and made small), shaped into a hamr, or blade. As the false flesh was near invulnerable this would offer many tactical options for Tara.

I also set in an inactive antimagic enchantnt which could be activated but would kill the arm, but also all other magic in the area. For Tulisa this would also be a suicide switch (as she need the false flesh to survive) and so like all the other enchantnts had been layers of defence.

I watched Tara and Tulisa try out their enchantnts when I was done.

"Damian." Iris said.

I hadn’t noticed her either.

"You need to sleep." Iris told .

"I don’t need sleep." I told her.

"Maybe... but you haven’t said a word in two days and nights."

"I’m working."

"You have been amazing. You helped Tara. You have stopped the Romans; they cannot maintain their siege now. The clans are already planning heavily guarded land trade again."

"I failed..."

She pulled into a hug.

"Slánaitheoir, we’re alive."

"I have a hand again." Tara added, pinching her fingers open and closed.

Why were they comforting ?

So many had died, Tara lost her hand and Tulisa most of her body. The latter two now wears a poor imitation of what they once had.

Why were my feelings being placed first?

"Can you let go of the magic for , love. Let see your eyes again."

The fierce, bright blue glow shone out of my eyes. I’d embraced magic and I hadn’t let it go since the fight with the stranger and Jack. Jack what an odd na for a monstrosity.

"Please." She asked, but her voice wavered.

I could remove her pain with a single stroke of magic. I could improve her and make her deathless. I could force nirvana onto her. What is enlightennt when compared to magic? What is wisdom to wonder? Yet in magic I felt enlightennt and felt no awe or attachnt to the world. It seems I was standing upside down.

I let go of the magic.

She wiped leaking tears. Her thumb cleared away the wet drops from what I hoped was a stoic expression. In reality, I was crying.

"I couldn’t do anything."

"None of us could." Morgana said.

She was here too. Sitting further away.

"We were hit by a major player, my Paragon. One who could afford to lose dozens of warriors and has terrible minions."

"It doesn’t change that we were helpless."

"Clavile struck us. This is his doing. The worst of Albion just hit us and we are still alive. I don’t know how to explain to you how impressive that is. Clavile made a targeted strike with his most impressive forces to assassinate us and he failed. In fact, he was so sure of its failure that he didn’t co himself."

"Or he will co next ti to ensure the work is done." Tara offered.

"No, I don’t think so. When Clavile wants sothing he appears in person. When it is out of a pact he has made and he is obliged to act that is when his minions work."

"You think sothing else is going on?" Iris asked.

"I don’t know. Not truly. Romans, Unseelie...mountains are moving against us. We are a small bloom."

"I hit the Romans. Not a re small bloom."

"The Romans will not be stopped by this." Morgana said.

She seed wary.

"I know."

She sighed in relief, "It is right what you did. But The God of War cannot be caged. Not like his predecessor if the stories are true."

"We have ti while the Romans are too busy to deal with the Unseelie. We won’t be caught by surprise twice." Tara said.

They chattered away. I thought. I dealt with the Romans first because they were the easiest. I’d had ti to think about it in the back of my head. Mars was held by ball and chain by his warriors much in the sa way I was.

I couldn’t just rely on Ladir. The cloaked warrior I could take much in the sa way as I could Ladir. I had to prepare against Jack.

"I need to prepare against them. I must."

I let magic take .

I stared out from glowing blue eyes.

"Damian." I heard, but paid no attention to.
