Gu Nian and Qin Yuanyuan ca around the elevator lobby one by one and saw Jiang Xiaoqing, with her back to them, picked up a big bouquet of shiny yellow flowers and turned around.
Jiang Xiaoqing was delighted. "Look! What kind of flowers are these? They are so pretty!"
Qin Yuanyuan stepped up, too, in awe. "They don't look like the generic flowers that you see all the ti. I don't recognize them either. Where did you find them?"
"Right outside of our apartnt." Jiang Xiaoqing turned while holding onto the bouquet. "That's odd. All three of us are single. Did they deliver these to the wrong place?"
"These don't look like flowers for a girlfriend either. They looked like they were yanked right out of a pot……"
"Haha, this was definitely the first ti I have seen these flowers. They are quite pretty."
"Bermuda cream flowers."
"–– huh?"
Jiang Xiaoqing and Qin Yuanyuan both turned around at the sa ti and looked at Gu Nian, who chid in abruptly.
Gu Nian frowned at the bouquet of flowers. "This is Bermuda cream flowers; it belongs to the Oxalis corniculate family."
"Eh? You recognize this, Gu Nian?" asked Jiang Xiaoqing without any suspicion. Blinking, she asked, "Oh, are these for you then?"
Qin Yuanyuan did not gossip with Jiang Xiaoqing; instead, she rummaged through the wrapping paper. "There's a card here."
Jiang Xiaoqing's eyes lit up. "Hurry up and look. See if they are for Gu Nian!"
Qin Yuanyuan pulled out the black card with gold and red patterns and opened it up.
Inside the white card was a flamboyant signature.
"Is this still your favorite?"
Qin Yuanyuan read it hesitantly.
"Z…… Z. H. L.?"
After Qin Yuanyuan was done reading, she looked up blankly at Jiang Xiaoqing.
Jiang Xiaoqing, "Who's this Z H L?"
Qin Yuanyuan shook her head as well. "I have no idea. Not soone I know, that's for sure."
Jiang Xiaoqing, "I don't know anyone who's so ostentatious. Couldn't they have just sign their nas? What's with the initials? Do you recognize it, Gu Nian?"
"……"
Gu Nian gave the bouquet of flowers a cold look, took it from Jiang Xiaoqing, turned, and threw into the trash bin in the stairwell.
Jiang Xiaoqing and Qin Yuanyuan, who didn't even have the chance to stop her, watched Gu Nian returning expressionlessly. As she walked between the other two, she finally elaborated, "It's from Zheng Haolei."
"––?"
Gu Nian walked inside their apartnt.
Jiang Xiaoqing and Qin Yuanyuan, left where they were, looked at each other.
"So Z H L was Zheng Haolei?"
"Looks like it. That would be his initials. So that was for Gu Nian from him?"
"For sure they weren't for . Gu Nian said that they never dated and that he never pursued her. But given that he was sending her flowers for no reasons and then there was that card, this is pursuing, right?"
"I don't know……"
The two chattered for a little while outside the door and finally walked inside slowly and quietly.
Gu Nian had already changed and sat down on the barstool by the countertop. When she saw the other two girls walking in, she waved the club soda that she had pulled out from the refrigerator and said, "I got so for you two as well. Have so."
"……"
Getting the ssage, the two suppressed their curiosity, quickly changed out of their shoes, and gathered around the countertop.
Two minutes later.
After they had listened to Gu Nian's very high level and vague story of how she knew Zheng Haolei from the past, Jiang Xiaoqing slamd her hand down on the table angrily. "So this shaless guy was your boss at your very first job and he tried to coerced you into joining their illegitimate business and unspoken favor? And when you turned him down, he ruined all of your accomplishnt from your first job??"
Gu Nian thought about it so and nodded casually, taking a sip of the club soda.
The cold air bubbles rolled into her stomach, and she squinted her eyes in content. Her voice was languid when she talked, "You can put it that way."
"And this shaless man had the audacity to harass you?!"
Gu Nian cocked her head. "We made a bet at the ti."
"Huh?"
Both equally infuriated, one verbally and one more subtly, turned and looked at Gu Nian.
