Right at this ti when everything was about to combust into one big supernova, a light chuckle sounded, followed by a strange voice. "My dear. You can stop now. I have taken care of everything."
More shocking was the fact that Sylvia seed to have sohow responded to the voice and stopped in her tracks, now staring dumbfoundedly into the darkness.
Sylvia stood frozen. She couldn't believe it. She did not want to believe it.
And yet... the voice was unmistakably his.
For a mont, the blood spilled around her, the sll of the grueso war, everything was forgotten. All she could see was that familiar outline and all she could think about was that voice. Her mind beca blank and her body was not responding.
"I am sorry. I got here a little late." The figure stepped out of the darkness with a sheepish smile and an awkward deanor. He ruffled his long unkempt yet gorgeous hair as if he was uncomfortable but he did not break his eye contact even once.
But when Sylvia continued to stare mutely, he lost a little bit of his cool.
"Damn it. You didn't forget , did you? You are not even wearing my ring any longer." The person frowned.
"Mikel!" Roman's voice broke the silence. "What are you doing here? Why is there a demonic aura around you?" The Lycan Lord had already sniffed the unmistakable scent of demonic madness on the human. "Where were you all this ti? Are you working with them?"
But wait. This was not the important point at the mont. The thing was they were all in danger right now.
Grave danger from a creature they did not recognize. The barrier Sylvia had erected was already cracking and now there was nothing in between the three of them and the weird creature.
"MOVE!" Roman shouted but Mikel unexpectedly waved him away with a casual gesture.
"What? You are scared of this cute thing here. No big deal. Here. I can take care of it for you." In a flick of his hand, Mikel tossed sothing at the creature right in front of their eyes and the next second, the horrific creature started spasming uncontrollably.
The creature, which monts before exuded an aura of unbridled malevolence, now writhed in agony. Its form began to dissolve, lting away into nothingness, leaving no trace behind except for a lingering sense of unease in the air.
The abrupt resolution left Sylvia, Roman, and even the creature itself, in its last monts, completely dumbfounded.
Sylvia's gaze shifted from where the creature had been back to Mikel, her mind racing to piece together the puzzle of his sudden appearance and his inexplicable power.
"Mikel... how?" Sylvia finally found her voice, though it was barely above a whisper. Her eyes searched his for answers, for any hint of the man she once knew. The man who had disappeared without a trace, leaving her world darker in his absence.
Mikel's eyes softened as he looked at Sylvia, his earlier bravado fading into a more sincere expression of remorse. "There's a lot I have to explain, Sylvia. About where I've been, what I've beco," he admitted, his gaze shifting away montarily before returning to et hers.
"But I promise you, I'm not your enemy. Nor am I an ally to those creatures."
Roman, still on high alert, remained skeptical. "Explanations can wait. Right now, we need to secure the area and ensure there are no more threats lurking. Mikel, if you truly are on our side, help us with that."
Mikel nodded. "Of course. I am here to help you. And then, we talk."
The man then tossed a ring at Roman and then another one at Sylvia. It only took a mont for Roman to inspect it and find that the ring was a spatial item and within it, there were a lot of small shiny gems, on each of which so sort of intricate symbol was carved.
"These are runes. You can craft runes?"
Mikel winked. "Later."
"Oh. By the way, there are so healing runes and there are also empowering runes. Feel free to use everything." He was about to say sothing else when he noticed that Sylvia was oddly still standing at the sa spot. Tears were dripping from her eyes.
The cheeky grin imdiately faded from Mikel's face as he rushed to her side the next instant, much faster than Roman could react. The mont he reached her side, Sylvia closed her eyes and fainted, falling into his arms.
"I am here. I am here. I am not going anywhere this ti." Mikel whispered softly in her ears and she drifted into a deep sleep, resting comfortably in his arms.
Roman watched the scene unfold with a mix of confusion, concern, and a hint of suspicion. Mikel's sudden appearance, his mysterious powers, and now this intimate mont with Sylvia—it all painted a complex picture that Roman couldn't quite decipher.
However, the imdiate threat had been neutralized, and Sylvia was safe, at least for the mont. Those were the only things that mattered to him right now.
"Mikel," Roman began, his tone firm yet carrying an undercurrent of curiosity, "you've got a lot of explaining to do. Starting with where you've been all this ti, what happened to you, and how you just... did what you did."
Mikel nodded, holding Sylvia close to his chest. "I know, Roman. And I will explain everything. Sylvia, more than anyone, deserves that. But right now, let's make sure we're safe here. I'll stand watch; you should rest too. We'll talk as soon as Sylvia wakes up."
Making it abundantly clear that he was not going to part with the woman in his arms, he tossed a few more rings at Roman. "Supplies for your n. You can ask for more if you need it."
Roman stared at the man for a mont and then at Sylvia. He then clutched the rings in his hand and turned to walk away. There were many conflicting emotions in his heart at the mont but he had a duty to his people above all.
