Kael’s POV

I ran.

My feet pounded against the pavent. Aria’s body was limp in my arms. Too light. Too cold. Too still.

The car was only thirty feet away. It felt like thirty miles.

*Faster,* Fenrir snarled. *Move FASTER.*

I was already moving as fast as I could. My lungs burned. My muscles scread. None of it mattered.

Only she mattered.

I reached the car. Sohow managed to open the back door without dropping her. Slid her across the leather seat. Her head lolled to the side. Her silver hair spilled across the dark interior like moonlight.

"Aria." I cupped her face. Her skin was ice against my palms. "Aria, stay with . Please."

Nothing.

No response. No flutter of eyelashes. No whisper of my na.

Just silence.

I slamd the door. Ran around to the driver’s side. The engine roared to life before I was even fully seated.

The tires screeched as I tore out of the parking lot.

I didn’t care about speed limits. Didn’t care about traffic lights. Didn’t care about anything except getting her to the hospital.

My eyes kept flicking to the rearview mirror. Checking on her. Making sure she was still breathing.

She was so pale. Like paper. Like a ghost.

This was my fault.

All of it.

"Don’t you dare die on ." The words tore from my throat. Raw. Desperate. "You hear , Aria? Don’t you fucking dare."

The car swerved around a slow-moving truck. Horns blared behind . I didn’t care.

I reached back with one hand. Found hers. Squeezed.

"Hold on," I whispered. "Just hold on a little longer."

The hospital finally ca into view. The ergency entrance glowed like a beacon in the afternoon light.

I pulled up to the doors. Didn’t bother parking properly. Just stopped the car and jumped out.

The back door flew open. I gathered Aria in my arms again. Cradled her against my chest like sothing precious. Sothing irreplaceable.

Because she was.

God help , she was.

"I need help!" My voice echoed through the ergency room. "Soone help !"

Nurses appeared imdiately. A gurney materialized from sowhere. They tried to take her from .

I forced my arms to release her. Watched them transfer her onto the gurney. Her arm dangled off the side. I caught it. Pressed her hand to my lips.

"I’m right here," I told her. Even though she couldn’t hear . "I’m not going anywhere."

The doctors wheeled her away. Through double doors. Into a part of the hospital I couldn’t follow.

I stood there.

Alone.

Staring at those doors like I could will them to open. Like I could see through them to wherever they’d taken her.

My hands were shaking.

I sank into a plastic chair. The waiting room was sterile. Cold. The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead.

Minutes passed. Maybe hours. I lost track.

My mind kept replaying every mont with her. Every touch. Every word. Every ti I’d hurt her when I should have been holding her.

I pressed my palms against my eyes. Felt the burn of tears I refused to let fall.

"Mr. Blood Crown?"

My head snapped up.

A doctor stood in front of . Middle-aged. Kind eyes. A clipboard in his hands.

"Is she okay?" The words ca out rough. Desperate. "Tell she’s okay."

"She’s stable." The doctor’s voice was calm. Professional. "But the specific results still need so ti."

"Can I see her?"

"She’s still unconscious. We’re moving her to a private room now. She’ll need ti to wake up naturally." The doctor paused. "Are you family?"

"Yes." The lie ca easily. "I’m her mate."

The doctor nodded. "Follow ."

The private room was quiet. Soft beeping from machines. Gentle hum of air conditioning.

She lay in the hospital bed. Eyes closed. Face pale against the white pillows. An IV dripped into her arm.

She looked so small.

So fragile.

I pulled a chair close to her bedside. Sat down. Reached for her hand.

Her fingers were warr now. That was good. That had to be good.

"Hey," I said softly. "I’m here."

I lifted her hand. Pressed my lips to her knuckles.

The beeping of the heart monitor was steady. Reassuring.

"When you wake up," I continued, "things are going to be different. I promise. I’m going to make this right. I’m going to show you that I’m worth taking a chance on."

I leaned forward. Brushed my lips against her forehead. Let them linger there.

"Just wake up," I whispered against her skin. "Please. Just wake up."

The minutes stretched into hours. I didn’t move. Couldn’t.

My phone rang.

The sound shattered the silence. Jarring. Unwelco.

I considered ignoring it. Almost did.

Then I saw the screen.

Father.

My jaw tightened.

Not now. I couldn’t deal with him now.

The phone kept ringing. Persistent. Demanding.

I let it go to voicemail.

It rang again imdiately.

And again.

And again.

Finally, I answered. If only to make it stop.

"What?" My voice ca out harsh. Cold.

"Where the hell are you?" My father’s voice was ice. Pure fury barely contained. "I’ve been calling for hours."

"I’m busy."

"You have thirty minutes to get ho." My father’s voice was cold. Final. "If you’re not here in thirty minutes—"

"I already told you. I can’t."

"Let make sothing very clear to you, Kael." His words were slow. Deliberate. Each one a threat. "If you don’t co ho right now, you can wait to see your mother and your brother’s corpses."

My blood turned to ice.

"What?"

"You heard ." I could hear the cruel smile in his voice. "Selene and Lucian are both here. In this house. With . And I’m in a very bad mood, Kael. A very, very bad mood."

"You have thirty minutes," he repeated. "Don’t be late."

The line went dead.

I stared at the phone. My mind raced.

Mother. Lucian. Both of them vulnerable. Both of them at his rcy.

I knew what my father was capable of. Had seen the bruises he left on my mother. Had watched him beat Lucian until he couldn’t stand.

He would do it.

He would actually hurt them just to make a point.

But Aria—

I looked at her again. So peaceful. So unaware of the chaos surrounding her.

I stood slowly. My legs felt like lead.

"I have to go." The words tasted like betrayal. "But I’ll be back. I promise."

I leaned down. Pressed another kiss to her forehead. Let my lips linger against her skin.

"Wait for ," I whispered. "Please."

Then I forced myself to walk away.

At the door, I stopped. Turned to the nurse who’d been quietly checking monitors.

"Take care of her." My voice was firm. Commanding. The Alpha heir giving an order. "Anything she needs. Anything at all. I want her to have the best care this hospital can provide."

The nurse nodded quickly. "Of course, Mr. Blood Crown."

"And if anything changes—if she wakes up, if there’s any problem, anything—call imdiately." I pulled out a card. Pressed it into her hand. "That’s my personal number. Use it."

"Yes, sir."

"I’ll be back," I said. More to myself than to anyone else.
