In the back room, on the bed, lay a young girl who looked to be about seventeen or eighteen. Her face was swollen, black and blue from being beaten, and she had passed out. More than half her clothes had been stripped off. The bed was a complete ss, showing clear signs of a struggle.
Su Qing took a few steps forward, quickly pulled a blanket over the girl, and said to Li Huan, "Go check the room across the way and see if there’s a phone. If there is, call the police imdiately."
When Su Qing had surveyed the situation earlier, she’d already determined there were only five n in this house. She also knew there was a phone in the room across the way. This actually surprised her. After all, in this day and age, people with phones at ho were extrely rare. It wasn’t strange for a family like Li Huan’s to have one, but for a human trafficking den to have a phone... that was sothing she hadn’t expected.
Still, it was convenient for her and Li Huan. They wouldn’t have to run an errand; they could just call the police station directly.
She’d sent Li Huan away so she could take a piece of clothing out of her space for the girl to wear. The girl’s clothes, especially her top, had been torn to shreds and were clearly unwearable.
"Oh, okay. I’ll go right now." Without a hint of suspicion, Li Huan nodded and headed for the room across the way.
Seeing Li Huan head to the other room, Su Qing quickly took a plain n’s shirt out of her space. It was a very common shirt, the kind that nearly every man in this era owned. Su Qing had originally gotten it for herself for a ti when she might need to disguise herself as a man, but she had never ended up using it.
Su Qing quickly helped the girl into the shirt, tidied up her other clothes, and, while she was at it, sent a wisp of green mist into her.
A mont later, Li Huan returned. She said to Su Qing, "I can’t believe it, they actually had a phone. I already called the nearest police station... Hey, where did you find those clothes?"
This back room only had a bed and a table, no wardrobe. Li Huan hadn’t seen any clothes lying around earlier.
"Oh, there was a shirt lying in the corner by the bed. I guess it belongs to one of those guys. It’ll have to do for now," Su Qing said, casually telling a white lie.
Li Huan didn’t suspect a thing and nodded. "Right. Good thing there was a shirt. We should have given that man another beating just now. He’s despicable, hitting her like this."
Looking at the girl’s face, black and blue and swollen, Li Huan felt a pang of pain just seeing it. Her sense of justice flared, and she wished she could drag those n up and beat them all over again.
"’At least she only has superficial injuries and wasn’t hard in any other way.’ Su Qing was incredibly relieved. She couldn’t imagine the consequences if the girl had actually been violated by that man just now. In this era, people’s mindsets were extrely conservative. She didn’t dare to think about the kind of rumors and gossip the girl would have to face if that had happened."
"’Thank goodness.’ Li Huan nodded, a wave of fear washing over her in retrospect. It was a good thing Su Qing had such sharp ears and heard the commotion. Otherwise, that girl would have been done for today."
As the two were talking, the unconscious girl slowly ca to. Sensing soone beside her, she began to struggle violently before she could even see who it was. "Let go! Let go! Help!"
Su Qing quickly took the girl’s hand and said, "Don’t be afraid. You’re safe now."
Su Qing’s voice seed to have a calming effect. The girl recovered so of her senses from her panic and terror. When she saw that the people in front of her were two other girls, not that terrifying man from before, she relaxed slightly and asked in a small voice, "You... That man, he..."
Although she had regained so of her composure, the girl was still so terrified from her earlier ordeal that she couldn’t form a complete sentence.
Li Huan quickly said, "Don’t be afraid. My friend knocked those n out. They’re all lying outside now. You’re safe. No one is going to hurt you anymore."
Hearing Li Huan’s words, the girl asked uncertainly, "Really?"
"’Yes, really. We’ve already called the police. They’ll be here soon, and all of you who were captured will be able to go ho,’ Li Huan quickly added."
Hearing this, the girl couldn’t help but burst into tears. "Really."
"’Of course it’s real,’ Li Huan replied affirmatively, nodding emphatically. ’Don’t worry. You’re really safe now.’"
Su Qing also said, "We’ll wait with you until the police arrive."
"’That’s wonderful! Wonderful! Thank you, thank you,’ the girl said, sobbing uncontrollably. After being captured by these n, she thought she’d never see her family again. Just monts ago, as she was about to be violated by that man, she had even considered killing herself."
She never would have dread that she could be rescued.
"’Oh, right! There are a dozen or so other people in the cellar,’ the girl said suddenly to Su Qing and Li Huan, rembering the others who had been captured with her."
"’They’ll all be let out once the police get here,’ Su Qing said quickly."
’Since they had already called the police, it was best to leave these matters to them. After all, there were ten children among the captives. Right now, it was just her and Li Huan. If the children started crying and making a fuss, she really wouldn’t know what to do. She had absolutely no experience in comforting kids.’
The two of them spoke with the girl for a while longer, and her emotions finally stabilized. She got off the bed and went into the main room. When she saw the man who had tried to assault her passed out on the floor, she walked up hatefully and kicked him hard in the face several tis.
Instantly, several dusty footprints appeared on the man’s face, and two streams of blood slowly trickled from his nose. ’Hmm, with that much force, he’ll have a mild concussion at the very least.’
However, neither Su Qing nor Li Huan stopped the girl’s act of revenge. After all, anyone in her shoes would likely be unable to swallow that much anger.
The police arrived quickly, but when Su Qing saw the person leading the team, she was rather speechless.
’It’s that Captain Zhang again.’
When Captain Zhang saw Su Qing, he too looked completely bewildered. ’It’s only been a few days, and we’re eting again?’

As she spoke, Su Qing pointed to the girl beside her.
