*Zara*
“Zara, why don’t you sit down.”
I glanced over at Noah, trying not to let my anxiousness and frustration show any more than they already were.
Noah just raised an eyebrow at from his spot in the plush sea-blue armchair. “You’re pacing,” he inford in a tone that suggested that I was unaware of my quick steps.
It was true. I had been walking briskly back and forth in the large lavish resort suite for probably close to an hour by this point. I couldn’t believe the room we were in. The seashell bedspread and bright colors served as a stark contrast toward the dark inner turmoil that was wreaking up a storm inside of .
We were anxiously waiting for Eva to et us. It felt wrong to lounge around on the huge canopy bed or pull out a book to read on the beach.
We weren’t on vacation.
A demon sorcerer had our child. We shouldn’t have been sitting at all.
Noah seed restless too, but he was much better at controlling it than I was. He was able to sit down, even though he was tapping his foot nervously. He was fidgeting as well, his large hands twitching slightly as they gripped the arms of the chair.
I continued to pace. After several minutes of just watching , Noah finally had enough. He rose from his seat so he could grab my arm, pull back to the chair, and yank into his lap.
“Noah!” I protested imdiately, wriggling against his hard thighs. “Let up!”
Noah didn’t answer right away, just tightened his hold on my waist. He kissed my ear. “Please, Zara. Just let hold you for a while.”
I sucked in a breath and finally looked into the dark, serious eyes of my mate. They held so much seriousness. It was then I realized that he needed to hold him almost as much as I needed to be held.
I swallowed the huge lump in my throat and nodded, wrapping my arms around his shoulders and pressing my face into the crook of his neck.
Everything was going to be fine. We just needed to hold on together.
As the hours stretched on, and we were approaching midnight, we reasoned that Eva probably wasn’t going to make it that night. She must have decided to arrive in the morning, which was appropriate. We surely didn’t want her traveling late, despite the direness of our situation.
With much difficulty and even more restlessness, we climbed beneath the covers and sohow were able to fall asleep.
The next morning, there was still no sign of Eva. Noah and I exchanged a worried glance before we decided to walk around the island, hoping to run into her on her way to et us. After walking all day, there was still no sign of her.
On the third day, despair slamd into hard. I could feel myself growing ill with worry and guilt. This was our only chance toward a lead to find Briella. If Eva didn’t show up, I didn’t know what we were going to do.
I wanted to look for Eva again, but Noah was stern after I started feeling weak and ordered to stay in bed. The crying returned. I could barely eat anything, despite Noah’s pleas for to have so soup or half a sandwich.
“Zara, it’s going to be alright,” Noah said, sitting on the bed beside . He tucked a strand of lifeless hair behind my ear. “Eva will be here soon. We’re going to get answers.”
I didn’t respond, feeling as if I was withdrawing further into myself. The stress of not knowing if Briella was safe and not being able to do anything about it was causing to swirl downward into a dark despair.
On the fourth day, Noah’s patience was wearing out as well. I could tell that watching fall into depression was weighing heavily on him. He finally snapped. Cursing Eva, he grabbed a nearby lamp and hurled it against the opposite wall. The expensive piece shattered imdiately upon impact.
I felt weak and a little dizzy from not being able to eat but was able to heave myself out of the armchair I had been occupying and threw myself at Noah. I wrapped my arms around his chest before he could do any more harm to the lavish room we were staying in.
“Noah, please stop!” I pleaded, grabbing his arm when I saw him eye a vase on a nearby table.
“We’re leaving, Zara,” he said flatly. “I won’t watch you spiral into depression any longer. We’re going to send out a team to search for Briella ourselves.”
“Noah, we don’t even know where to start,” I reasoned, feeling tears prick my eyes. “Please, let’s not lose hope yet. I’m sure Eva will be here soon. Sothing urgent must have co up. Let’s wait just a little longer.”
Noah growled, but his expression softened when he finally t my desperate gaze. He sighed and traced my cheek with his fingers. “We’ll stay one more night,” he said sternly. “But if the witch doesn’t show by morning, we are taking matters into our own hands.”
I nodded, knowing that this was all I could hope for at the mont.
That night, the moon was full. We didn’t need to look outside the balcony window to know that this was true. We could both feel the celestial pull even as we lay in bed with our eyes closed.
I could feel pressure building up deep in my core. I was practically shaking with the need to stop resisting the call of the goddess.
I needed to succumb to my wolf.
Almost as one, Noah and I rose from the bed. After a quick glance at one another, we linked hands and threw ourselves from the balcony window.
When we landed in the garden below, we were in our wolf forms.
I was just a step behind Noah as we took off, sprinting through the lush jungle. The moon was high, bathing us in the magical glow.
The pale but vibrant moonlight toyed with Noah’s thick black fur. I gazed at him as we ran, taking in his muscular form and sure, graceful movents.
He was glorious.
I couldn’t believe he was mine.
I shut my eyes for a mont, allowing instinct to take over completely as I felt the cool breeze ruffle my thick fur. I let myself go, allowing my wolf to lead the way, taking over bushes and through the trees.
We ran tirelessly through the moon-drenched jungle, thoroughly enjoying the wind in our fur and clean crisp jungle air. I would never grow tired of the absolute exhilaration that ca with sprinting in this form. I felt powerful and unstoppable like I could move mountains and ta seas and not even break a sweat.
When I opened my eyes again and focused back on my mate, I felt sothing else that rivaled the current high I was sporting from our run. My eyes road over my mate’s strong form. As if feeling my gaze, he glanced at from over his shoulder, his large eyes piercing straight into my soul.
As soon as our eyes locked, I knew he felt it too. He growled low in his throat and wordlessly changed course, tearing up the mountain. I followed eagerly, knowing he was searching for the perfect spot.
Noah led to a secluded glen with soft, tall grass and bright wildflowers that seed to shimr in the moonlight.
My heart leaped into my throat when Noah shifted back into his human form, his nude form glowing. I quickly followed suit. Despite the cool, crisp air, my entire body felt warm as I gazed at my mate, every rippling muscle and smooth plane.
Noah strode toward , and my breath caught as he imdiately swept up into his arms as soon as I was close enough for him to do so. His lips quickly captured mine in a heated kiss that had my heart pounding wildly in my chest. His large, sure hands gripped my hips, pressing tightly against his front.
He nibbled my lower lip. Without breaking the kiss, he lowered down to the soft ground below us. The tall grass tickled my skin in all the right places. I threw my head back as Noah’s lips began to travel downward, leaving light kisses on my neck and chest.
I ran my hands over Noah’s chest, feeling the ridges with my feather-light touch. Noah sucked in a breath at the contact but continued to explore my body with his mouth, causing every inch of my skin to tingle.
Noah moaned in my ear and then suddenly flipped us over so that he was on his back and I was straddling his hips. I looked down at him, my head a little dizzy from the quick movent, but I was quickly moaning as well when Noah slid into with practiced ease. I gasped at the sudden, full sensation, tossing my head back so the moonlight kissed my face.
I hissed slightly as Noah’s wide length filled completely. Gravity was doing wonders while we were in this position. Noah lifted with his strong hands before dropping onto his hard cock, causing him to drive all the way in .
“Noah,” I gasped out, bouncing over his thickness.
Noah groaned at the sound of his na on my lips and thrust his hips upward with even more zeal, pounding into over and over.
I looked down into his eyes, alight with passion as he slid into again and again. His blue eyes were impossibly dark, a perfect reflection of the night sky. My nerves were tingling as we gazed at one another.
“You’re so beautiful, Zara,” Noah murmured, his voice completely in awe as he stared up at . “And you’re all mine.”
“Yes,” I agreed. “Yours.”
With a heated growl, he rolled us over again. I was again on my back and completely breathless as Noah took charge completely, grabbing my ankles so he could spread my legs wide and take with the sureness and strength of the wolf I had just run with minutes earlier.
He thrust into with slow, asured movents. I gasped with each one, feeling my whole body begin to shiver as I approached the edge. The corner of Noah’s lips tilted up in a smirk as he caught my pleading look. He obliged and pushed his hips against harder than ever, causing to cry out as I ca hard and violently around him.
Noah groaned as I tightened around him. He stilled inside of , relishing in the sensation. He spread my legs even further and moved skillfully inside of , rolling his hips and lifting my legs so that my hips t his. A second, earth-shattering orgasm shook right as Noah climaxed and released his seed into with a low growl.
My head spun when Noah finished and slowly lowered himself down on the soft grass beside . I moved so that I could cling to him, craving his solid strength to anchor amidst inner storms.
Noah grinned and pressed a kiss to my lips, but his eyes were sad and serious. I knew that he had snapped out of our post-sex high as well. We didn’t speak as we lay together, listening to the calming whisper of the wind rustling through the tall grass. The full moon shone down on us like a spotlight, bathing our naked bodies in a hazy glow.
Although I had Noah pressed up against and we were currently naked on a stunning tropical island paradise, foreboding visions of the demon Malphas still haunted my thoughts, filling with dread of what the new dawn might bring.
