*Zara*
I felt lust rush through my veins as Noah brought to a quiet spot, away from the party, away from everyone. I was overwheld with the sensation of him.
He laid down and began removing my clothing, his movents swift. I gazed up into his gorgeous, blazing blue eyes, wondering if he finally rembered everything.
What I saw, however, was no recognition of as the woman he loved—just lust and need, much like the first night we were together. He was overco with the sensation to lay with , to make love to , but the tenderness from mories we should share... they weren’t there.
I could tell.
My heart lurched, but I didn’t deny the lust, and wanted him right here, and right now. His hands brushed over my body, sending shivers of wanting down my spine.
Every move he made was wonderful, and I wanted more of it. I let out a gasp as his fingers brushed over my nipples, then a moan escaped from my lips, encouraging him.
I was being driven by the need for him to take , fill , claim , but the lack of feeling loved bothered . I had trouble completely letting go knowing that Noah didn’t rember or what we truly ant to each other.
It was a problem.
My worries were interrupted as his lips t mine, bedazzling and sending into a whirlwind of lust once more. I wrapped my arms around him, grinding against his erection.
His movents reflected mine, and soon he entered , filling up entirely. I gasped into the kiss as he began to move in slowly, then out.
The chemistry between us lit up like electricity rushing through both of us. A cascade of pleasure rushed over at every one of his strokes.
The feeling was so powerful and raw, my breath was taken away entirely. Moans spilled from my lips as I felt him make love to , his hands continuing their exploration all over my body.
All my thoughts were on him, and our mont right now, as the pleasure built up within . The warmth erupted into my climax.
Soon after, Noah groaned, his own pleasure pulling him over the edge as well. We lay there together for a mont, my eyes closed as I basked in the afterglow.
But the rich, happy feeling faded quickly as I rembered the truth.
Noah still didn’t rember . And he would forget this mont by morning. I furrowed my brow, feeling the positive emotions fade into sorrow. My body shuddered as I swallowed, feeling the sadness grow stronger and stronger.
Suddenly it erupted as I covered my face with my hands and began to weep, shaking as I did so. I felt Noah sit up and pull onto his lap.
He ran his fingers through my hair, and asked softly into my ear, “Zara? What’s wrong?”
“Y-you still don’t rember .”
A long pause passed between us before he finally replied, “My feelings for you are strong, Zara. I can feel it. I don’t know what happened, but....”
“That’s the problem. You don’t rember anything about us at all. This just isn’t the sa.”
“It can be. We can make this work.”
“Noah, it hurts so badly. You’ve forgotten so much of our love, so much of what built our connection in the first place. And tomorrow....”
I leaned away, tearfully looking into his eyes. He stared at with sorrow in his gaze as well, his brow furrowed as he no doubt tried so hard to rember .
He just couldn’t.
There was no recognition in his gaze. He just knew he was drawn to and wanted . My heart clenched as more tears stread down my cheeks.
“We just aren’t the sa,” I whispered.
“I... well, I ca all this way to rescue you, Zara. How about we return and try to fix this?”
“That isn’t necessary.”
Noah winced, and I felt a pang in my heart at his expression dropping further. But I just couldn’t accept things that way.
My heart was torn into a thousand pieces, and though I desperately wanted it to work out, the fact that he rembered nothing still was so terrible.
“Why isn’t it necessary?” he finally asked, breaking the silence that had stretched between us. I let out a sigh, reaching up to rub at my temples.
“Because I’ll be out of here myself soon. Alpha Daven is sending ho after his son’s wedding.”
“He is?”
Noah sounded skeptical, and I gave a nod.
“Yes. His son, Grey, found a match. He was a bit more stubborn than you were.” I tried to give Noah a faint smile ntioning that.
Noah’s eyes sparkled with a deep sense of sadness, but also with a touch of curiosity. “What do you an by that?”
“You tried flirting with to get off of your back about the mate bond,” I said flatly.
Noah chuckled, raising a brow. “I did?” he murmured. “It does sound like . I’ve been described as very stubborn.”
“I would have never guessed,” I said in a tone with a slight bit of sass. My heart leaped as I saw his half-hearted smile. At least it held so radiance.
“I wish I could rember. Zara... I am so sorry.”
Any positive feelings I had faded away as I sighed and just shrugged. “We worked together a lot, Noah. But the problems you were helping with are taken care of.”
“Problems?”
“Yes. I was cultivating the Luna Lilies. So rogues were trying to stop by attacking. You... helped defend . But that’s no longer needed.”
Noah nodded, staring down toward the ground. “I can escort you, if you’d like, back to your ho.”
“No thank you,” I said shortly, swallowing.
It just couldn’t work out if he wasn’t going to rember at all. How would we raise our child together? Their life wouldn’t be happy at all.
My heart broke at the increasing sadness in Noah’s eyes. He straightened up and nodded, letting out a sigh.
“Alright. If you change your mind, well, about anything, please let know.”
With that, he was gone.

The next day, I woke up feeling hollow and heartbroken. Questions flooded my mind. Had I made a mistake with Noah? Should I have given him more of a chance?
The feeling I had after we made love was so horrible, I couldn’t let it go. The mory of those feelings surged back, and I sighed.
Everything was going wrong. I wanted things to work out, but I needed to get ho as soon as possible. I needed to work on the lilies, and my career... and prepare for my child.
There was a lot to do, and being there, worrying about Noah, wasn’t going to help. My hope dwindled to nothing when I realized he just wasn’t going to rember.
I began to pack, allowing relief to flood through . At least I was going to be able to go ho soon. That was one good thing about my situation, at least.
But as I packed, I heard a slamming noise a few halls down. My wolf pushed to go check out what was going on.
Sothing was amiss.
I made my way down the hall, and when I got closer to the source of the issue, I heard yelling... Gray’s voice. This really couldn’t be good, I thought.
A sinking feeling twisted in my stomach as I got closer and began to understand what he was saying to none other than his mate, Lorelei.
“How many tis do I have to fucking say it?!” Gray hollered. “Your rank is too low for . We’re done.”
“But Gray!” she protested. “I love you! Last night was amazing. I thought you enjoyed yourself.”
“I did. You did well even though it was your first ti. But that doesn’t matter.”
“Why doesn’t it matter? We’re true mates, Gray, I love you, and–”
“Like I said, your rank is too low. Get off this.”
I heard a slam, which must have been Gray slamming his foot on the ground. It caused to wince and Lorelei to let out a whimper.
“I can’t, Gray. We’re mates. Please.”
“No. I said no. I, Gray Fang, reject you, Lorelei Winter, as my mate.”
I watched Lorelei crumple in pain to the floor. I hurried to her, and no one else dared to move and give her aid. Her body was frail and shaking from the rejection. Tears stread down her face. I rubbed her back soothingly to comfort her.
She shuddered, leaning into and covering her face with her hands as she sobbed.
At that mont, Alpha Daven rounded the corner and snapped at , “What is going on?!”
“I–” I began
“Never mind that,” the Alpha snapped, cutting off. “Gray! Get over here.”
Gray stomped back into the room, looking from to Lorelei and scoffing.
“I’m done being bothered,” he snapped. He pointed to Lorelei. “She isn’t my mate. Get her out of my sight.”
He didn’t add anything else, rely whirled and stord off to his room.
What a disgusting piece of shit he is, I thought. I felt anger surge through , but I bit my lip, trying not to snap after him. Matters got much worse, though, when Alpha Daven swore and turned toward .
“Until you find my son a suitable mate, you will remain here. You aren’t going anywhere.”
“But–”
“Shut up,” he snapped. “Do your job correctly this ti.”
It was clear he wasn’t budging, so I quickly led Lorelei to the room I was staying in to help calm her down. My eyes were as wide as saucers as I took a seat.
Lorelei continued shaking with sobs, unable to get ahold of herself. I knelt next to her, gently rubbing her shoulder.
“Hey, you’re not alone. I’m here for you.”
“H-how could he reject like that? I thought we were t-true mates... things had been going fine, and....”
“So people just aren’t good at all,” I said softly. “Let’s take it easy for the next few days and gather our bearings. I won’t let you deal with this alone.”
“Really? You’d help like that?”
“Of course,” I whispered, taking her into a hug.
We sat there, crying together, for the next few hours. And for the next few days, I made sure to be there for her.
One day, we found ourselves sitting in my room again, muttering to one another back and forth, making sure the guards wouldn’t overhear.
“Zara,” Lorelei muttered. “I can tell you’re very miserable here.”
“I am,” I said, my voice breaking. “I... I want to go ho.”
“I understand. I have an idea. I can help you escape, you know.”
“You’d help ?” I gasped, hope blossoming in my heart.
She nodded. “Yes, but only if you promise to take with you to the Light Realm.”
I nodded firmly. “I can do that. I would love to help with that, Lorelei. We’re in this together now.”
