*Daphne*
The air was crisp and cool. The light afternoon breeze danced around my neck, tickling my skin.
The early spring morning was invigorating, the vibrant leaves and flowers making the land of Thorn Forest appear even more alive.
I patted the neck of the young mare that I was riding on. We rarely rode horses, especially in the Light Realm, but the roads in these pack lands were more like walking paths, not fit for cars.
Alpha Cyrus had been planning on giving Rion and a formal tour of the expansive land ever since we made it to the pack, but between building plans and then twins, we just never found the ti.
There was still so much to do.
Now that fortification efforts had cald imnsely, Thorn Forest Academy was full of students, and the twins seed content at ho with sitters, we finally had a day to survey the territory.
Rion and Alpha Cyrus were ahead of as we rode confidently through the outskirts of the pack community. From on top of our horses, the pack’s challenges were especially apparent. Many of the cabins and barns were clearly in need of repair, the wood old and many of them threatening to collapse in on themselves.
“When were these barns built?” Rion called to Alpha Cyrus, who was leading us along.
Alpha Cyrus looked over his shoulder at us and then at the barns. “Oh, it would have been more than a few decades ago.”
Rion and I glanced at each other and grimaced. We would have to arrange for them to be repaired soon.
It wasn’t just the barns that needed attention. The animals that lived on the lush land appeared to be underfed as well, the ribcages on the cows and goats visible even beneath their fur.
Despite the buildings that needed to be redone, the livestock that required more attention, and the weeds that were threatening to overtake the vast fields, there was still so much beauty that filled the land as well.
Just beyond the farms and fields was a gorgeous landscape full of fresh, towering pine trees and flowering dogwoods. The rolling hills in the background were dotted with wildflowers of various colors.
“It’s beautiful out here,” I found myself saying, breaking the companionable silence that had fallen over us as we continued through the vibrant landscape.
Alpha Cyrus chuckled. “Yes, you can see why I was so determined to see my pack thrive here. The land offers so much. We have been very blessed.”
I couldn’t help but agree as we continued our ride. We started along a rushing river that was filled with fish and other wildlife. I shut my eyes briefly, just taking in all the sounds of the forest, from the gentle wind rustling through the autumn leaves and the birds and other woodland creatures just going about their day.
This land was weary but still vibrantly alive.
My eyes rounded as we approached the mountains. It was getting significantly cooler, the air even fresher than it had been during our journey. We stared up in awe at the mountain in front of us with the various ridges and valleys that shaped its form.
“I’d best head back,” Alpha Cyrus said, signaling for his large, but visibly aging stallion to turn around. “Old Cooper here doesn’t do well traveling through mountains anymore, do you bud?” He patted the horse, causing the animal to snort in response.
Rion turned to . “How are you feeling, Daphne? Are you well enough to continue up the mountain?”
I was getting a bit tired from our travels, but I wanted to keep going. There was sothing about the crisp mountain air and being surrounded by nature that drove forward. I didn’t want it to end.
I nodded with a grin. “We’ve made it this far. Let’s keep going!”
Alpha Cyrus chuckled and waved before leaving us alone.
“You have to let know imdiately if you start to get tired,” Rion ordered sternly as we continued up the path.
I rolled my eyes but my heart ward at his concern as always. “I will.”
Rion led the way and it wasn’t too long before the unmistakable sound of roaring water caught our ears. We urged our horses into a slightly faster trot. We pushed through so shrubs and were face-to-face with the most breathtaking sight.
We found ourselves in front of a gorgeous waterfall with cascading waters that created a veil of mist. The water tumbled from above in a collection of tiers, creating intricate patterns as it descended to the shimring pool at the base. The late afternoon sunlight shone through the fog, creating a glow around the whole area.
Rion and I just glanced at each other, our eyes wide. We shared an excited smirk before hopping off of our horses and taking off full speed toward the pool, laughing wildly right before shifting into our wolf forms.
An elated bark ripped from my throat as rushing water surrounded . I yelped in surprise when Rion barreled into , pushing further into the water. I growled playfully at him and tried to get on top of him, but he was so much bigger than I was.
I sprinted as quickly as I could in the shallow part of the pool, trying to lose him. He snapped at playfully, nipping at my neck and ears as we ran together. Water and fur flew through the air as we succumbed to playfulness.
The sun was beginning to set when we finally collapsed beside the pool, our thick fur slick but our tails wagging from the residual exhilaration.
Rion’s wolf form was gorgeous. His dark fur was almost black due to the water sticking to it. His coat looked shiny and mysterious as he lifted his large head to look at . His gray eyes were huge and deep, the setting sun bringing out the greens and golds that swam in them.
Rion shifted back right as the sun completely disappeared over the horizon, leaving us shrouded in a warm darkness. I felt my heart stutter violently as I followed his lead, shifting back to my human form.
I shivered slightly as I felt the cold rocky ground against my bare flesh. I felt my breath hitch when Rion reached out for and his fingers closed around my wrist. He pulled against his bare chest and I imdiately relaxed against his warmth.
“Daphne,” Rion murmured before his lips pressed against mine. His hands were suddenly everywhere, running up and down my sides as he kissed hungrily.
I shivered again with pleasure and anticipation as I responded, moaning against his mouth.
The sound of the rushing waterfall only seed to amplify the pounding of my heart and the spark that went through at Rion’s gentle, but firm touches. As Rion carefully lowered onto my back against the ground, I looked up at the sky that surrounded his glowing face. His eyes weren’t as rough as they were before we made love. They were full of passion and they seed to lt into .
Rion gazed into my eyes for a mont, his legs straddling my hips. He lowered his body over so that we were completely pressed together. One of his strong hands went up to caress the side of my face, his fingers grazing against my cheek lovingly.
Tiny droplets of water fell from his hair, falling onto my face and chest. The sensation was electric, making hyper-aware of every nerve in my body. They were all alive and on fire and begging for Rion to ignite them even further.
I arched my back, pushing my hips into Rion’s, needing to feel him even more than I already was. Our wet bodies pressed together as we started to move more fervently against one another.
My hands started to run over Rion’s body as well, my fingers itching to feel every defined ridge in his chest, every plane on his abs and back. I was already shaking heavily when Rion’s jaw locked and he pushed himself up slightly so that he could line his cock up to my eager entrance.
“Please,” I begged, my moans growing exponentially in volu.
He smirked and dropped a kiss onto the tip of my nose and then to my mouth right as he slid into . I gasped against his lips and he took full advantage, delving his tongue inside as he thrust powerfully into .
Our moans intermingled with the rushing waterfall, the symphony echoing against the rocky walls and through the mountain.
Rion was gentle as he cradled close to him, moving his hips against mine. I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him closer each ti he slid back into .
I shut my eyes for a mont, taking it all in from the absolute fullness and warmth that flowed through as Rion took roughly but still gently to the natural sounds of the world around us. It was suddenly as if the world was giving us its blessing through the gentle breeze and the echo of the rushing water against the rocky cliffside.
As we moved against one another, Rion and I weren’t just becoming one with each other. It felt as if we were becoming a part of the gorgeous landscape.
My eyes snapped open when Rion’s hands found my hips and he gripped firmly. I reached up and cupped his face in my hands, bringing his head down so I could kiss him hard. He humd against my mouth and pressed his whole body to mine, trapping beneath him as he rode even more intensely.
Tears filled my eyes as I barrelled over the edge, shrieking as I ca hard around Rion, my whole body trembling.
Rion wasn’t far behind. I felt his entire body stiffen before he spurted deep inside of , filling completely with his warm essence. I tossed my head back at the overwhelming sensation, moaning as I dug my fingers into Rion’s shoulders.
Rion held tightly to him long after we finished. He kissed over and over, murmuring words of endearnt that caused my insides to lt even more than they already had. His hands continued to caress as if I were a priceless treasure. His lips found every inch of my face, from my slick forehead to the tip of my chin.
I didn’t even realize that I was crying until Rion started to gently push the tears away with his thumbs. He seed to understand the reason for my overflow of emotions. I saw it swimming in his deep gray eyes as well. He was smiling down gently at , his expression full of compassion and understanding.
We sat up together and Rion imdiately pulled against his smooth chest, cradling as I continued to release the emotions that have been building up since we arrived in Thorn Forest.
Eventually, my tears subsided and we held each other tightly while listening to the calming waters. Rion turned and kissed again, and I once again felt everything pouring out.
It was evident that we were both in love with this pack, with this community that was now ours. As I held Rion close, I was more determined than ever to nurture this land and our people back to prosperity.
I knew I wouldn’t rest until every building was sturdy and glowing, each animal was well-fed and thriving, and all the children were given every opportunity they deserved.
Rion pulled away and grinned at , his eyes impossibly bright.
This was ho–our ho.
