The two returned to the vehicle, tore open the envelope, and found just two short sentences inside: “Find a way to Mount Everest Base as soon as possible, transportation will beco the biggest difficulty.”
The question was whether the difficulty with transport was due to a lack of vehicles, or because the vehicles couldn’t get through?
Although Gu Pan had all kinds of vehicles, this piece of information was still crucial; they had many friends and relatives and needed to gather information in advance to ensure everyone’s safety during the move.
Having returned to the villa, Gu Pan printed out the cruise ship materials and gathered everyone at Squad Leader Fang’s place because Fang had mobility issues, so they didn’t make him co out; instead, everyone went over to him.
Once there, Lu Ruisheng distributed the printed materials among the neighbors who were at ho, assigning each person to master a particular area of expertise, including learning to pilot a cruise ship.
A cruise ship couldn’t be piloted by one person alone. If they needed this form of transportation for the move, they couldn’t end up spending the rest of their lives on the cruise ship because they couldn’t drive it away, could they?
This genuinely frightened everyone.
Squad Leader Fang looked at the materials in his hand: “Do we really need to learn this? We don’t have a cruise ship.”
Gu Pan replied, “We are just preparing for the worst-case scenario. What if we do need it one day? We need to learn not just how to pilot a cruise ship, but also how to fly an airplane and drive a tank, just in case. The situation is becoming more dangerous by the day, and our only chance to survive is to improve our own capabilities.”
Since Guo Gang knew how to fly planes and Squad Leader Fang could drive tanks, if they had enough resources and people who knew how to teach, they could all learn. Although Guo Gang wasn’t currently there, Gu Pan and the others could send him the materials.
Learning in advance, even without practice, was better than complete ignorance should the need arise.
After all, there was no harm in preparing for the worst now.
Hearing Gu Pan’s words, Squad Leader Fang fell silent for a mont before agreeing, “That’s right, having more skills is better than fewer. Since we can’t go out anyway, we might as well learn.”
Cheng Yang was quite interested in learning to fly: “It would be great if I really had the chance to pilot an airplane.”
Chen Lang looked at his own hand: “Can one hand pilot a ship?”
Lu Ruisheng nodded, “Of course, so study hard.”
Chen Lang nodded happily in agreent.
Then the group held a eting to discuss the areas they were each responsible for learning. With a focus, they would be able to master the skills faster.
That evening, they all had dinner at Squad Leader Fang’s place, a small gathering. Though it was not as large or as safe as the dormitories in the Underground City, they had more freedom, which was even more essential to them.
Over the past few days, they had repaired the first floor of the houses, and since their container hos were fixed close to the villa, they had added steel fras covered with tarp and plastic sheeting at the entrance from the villa to the containers. Now they didn’t have to go outside to move between the containers and the villa’s first floor. The usable area had increased and the villa’s bathrooms were still functional, with more convenient access to water and electricity.
The rare chance to rest in such a comfortable environnt relaxed everyone significantly.
After resting for a couple of days, Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng planned to go to the Underground Entertainnt City and stay for a few days longer than usual to exchange for gold and locate the oil field’s position as ntioned by Gu Ci. Later, when the timing was right, they planned to take everyone out in several vehicles to collect more non-renewable resources before Gu Pan went to claim the oil field.
Since they had a lot of information to gather, they would stay at the Underground Entertainnt City for a few days. They had offices there, and it was spacious enough to sleep and had everything they needed.
They briefed Squad Leader Fang and the others on their goal before driving to the Underground Entertainnt City.

Although the sandstorms made travel difficult, it was still possible for those with vehicles. Hence, the road was not without traffic; there were base patrol vehicles, private cars, freight trucks, and also vehicles delivering supplies to the high-rise buildings.
However, there were hardly any pedestrians, as most people now lived at their workplaces. Those who went to work stayed at their places of employnt, enduring subpar conditions—many dormitories were just army cots. But it was safe, and having als and lodging provided at the workplace spared everyone complaints.

When they reached the gate, today’s guard was Xiao Lin.

With that, Lu Ruisheng and Gu Pan nodded, then drove off.
After they left, Xiao Lin felt the chocolate in his pocket and quietly thought to himself that he couldn’t ntion it. Resources were becoming increasingly scarce, and he understood that it was a gesture of goodwill.
After Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng left the base, they drove to a different entrance of the Underground Entertainnt City, a gate for insiders, unlike the forr. This one allowed vehicles to enter, and it was like a tunnel carved into a mountain, heavily guarded.
After parking the car and entering a password at this door, they accessed the office area.
As they approached the door, Gu Ci ca over: “You’re here. I was just about to look for you to discuss sothing.”
Lu Ruisheng opened the door and invited Gu Ci inside.
Gu Pan boiled so water, and then all three of them sat on the sofa to talk.
Gu Ci said, “The variety of items at our auction is not as rich as before, so the prices and people’s enthusiasm are not as high as they used to be. I was wondering if you could bring in so fresh items.”
Gu Pan thought for a mont and asked, “Would dicine work?”
Gu Ci’s eyes lit up: “What kind of dicine?”
Gu Pan replied, “Antibiotics? Insulin? Or what do you think would fetch a good price now?”
“Wait, what did you say? Insulin? You can still find that nowadays?” Gu Ci asked in surprise.
Gu Pan nodded, “And we can guarantee the quality of the dicine.”
Gu Ci clapped his hands: “How much grain do you want for it? This will be considered your personal asset; you can set the price. Having this item in our auction house to attract custors is good enough; we won’t try to profit from it.”
This was different from the seeds they had provided before: the seeds were an investnt given to the Entertainnt City, a form of expression or gesture of goodwill and sincerity as shareholders.
But dicine was another’s own property, which they could auction off at the base or exchange with the Base Commander for resources. In any case, this represented an individual’s personal capabilities, which they wouldn’t claim as their own.
